ULTRAVOX - WHEN YOU WALK THROUGH ME (INSTRUMENTAL)

- NON SUPPORTER OF THE ULTRAVOX UNOFFICIAL REGIME!
From the 1978 "Systems Of Romance" album this track really hinted at the direction the band were heading in. However, there was to be a very turbulent time in store for the members which essentially whittled them down to a singerless trio. John Foxx left to pursue a solo career and Robin Simon, after just this one album as part of Ultravox, decided to quit and stay in America when the tour ended.
Not the best of times.
Enjoy!

Today is my musical tribute day to Chris Cross... as Friday, it's a longer day. The first half being all instrumentals, and the second half live... WOW! Very much so on this, it being instrumental.. the bass really comes out, inc parts that were basically hidden under vocals.
Thanks for this! And a waves to my friend Autumn... who I see messaged here 5 days ago!
Oh! ...John leaving Ultravox, and Midge ruining them? As some say (hahaha) ...when ya analyse Systems and Vienna albums.... they merge! And the writing of the songs was generally a combined thing... so the vocalist changed, but I don't believe the band did much, it was just natural progression, the way they were going... which wasn't far from Systems, as both have lots of synth and guitar! Just a lot more production. And like MOST 70s Vox fans... if not for Midge, I might have never known of them.
As much as I love John Foxx's music... Midge I believe is a better singer, especially live! But As Autumn said... YES!!! Vienna and Metamatic , cos of John leaving, and both incredible albums!! I do love all John Foxx synthpop tracks! Also much of the very ambient kinda coral type too, though I do find he did too much of it... But Midge! Always will be my fave musical artist/singer, love everything! Even 'The Blooodied Sword' lol...which he did with Maxwell Langdown & Chris Cross.
Rest In Peace Chris Cross
Definitely a turbulent time but I'm happy with the way things worked out because not only do we have the Vienna album we also have Metamatic, my top two albums
Two outstanding albums for sure.
Are you following me Autumn? in a time travel kinda way! As you commented first! HAHA!!
Both truly are amazing albums!! ...After writing my comment above... I just realised! I gotta fit The Bloodied Sword into todays musical tribute day... but as all instrumentals and live... as had an Ultravox albums/B-sides day not long ago!
So! Found an online vocals removal site that allows upto 20mins! Which means adjusting the tempo of the album.. which I have in two 20.16sec parts! ...I hope someday somebody uploads a good quality instrumental version of the album! I'm sure it will be amazing music, as an extra to me, as I love the album anyway! But then me loco! HAHA!!
@PUPNRC.Mixes.Suites.Extended now there's a challenge. "The Bloodied Sword" - I'd never thought of that one. I don't use the online vocal removing stuff (I call them "scrapers" as that's basically what they do). They're too rudimentary for my projects. But I'll check and see if TBS is on TH-cam and I'll download it. See if it makes merits any investigation.
Autumn? She's a friend of mine on Facebook and has been for a long time. I'm sure it's only a coincidence that she's always in the same place as you lol.
@PUPNRC.Mixes.Suites.Extended P.S. I'm currently working on something from the "Ingenuity" album. My first foray into the 90's stuff.
Great song from the old Ultravox, you could hear the band developing on this album but it was time for John to go. Keep them coming Andy.
Plenty more to come Lenny. I agree. They had reached a point where change was needed. They had found their sound but needed that extra something. That something was Midge Ure.
Sadly Chris can't not hear it as he pass away two weeks ago
Chris passed away on Monday 25 March. Such a sad and unexpected loss.
