I've been playing this for the last 2 hours - I've gone from 1400 to 1050. Thanks for the tips coach!
Gambit doesn’t matter here way you continue from that position matters bro
Learn all the lines and you wont lmao look from the database how to play against blacks most common moves if you are 1400 and you drop to 1000 with this maybe its time to go play checkers or dont play gambits if you are scared passive player 👍
Bcoz if u play the diemer gambit properly either u will win or if ur opponent play well u will have a good position to play
The gambit played properly gives you a good position as white. All this means is that you couldn't continue from that position.
I beat magnum condom with this gambit
With this Gambit I will beat magnus Carlos.

@@armstrongtixid6873 Yeah.
I feel like it's worth mentioning for the beginners, the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit can be played into the Scandinavian Defense too!
Yeah it's a valid option if you're bored of playing the scandi line. Playing straight in to the scandi is still the strongest response but this isn't much worse. And it's unlikely a beginner or maybe intermediate scandi player will have faced this often prior.
Bruh I dont think beginners should be playing this gambit...
@@rayyanshaikh5591 my thought process is, a beginner playing the Scandinavian probably has never seen the Blackmar-Diemer, so if a beginner learns the first few key moves they could get an advantageous position pretty easily.
@@rayyanshaikh5591 Yea true that :D
But Black is likelier to play 1 ... d5 after 1 d4 than after 1 e4. Not that White should want the Blackmar--Diemer Gambit anyway.

He does live in New York.
This is one of my favorite openings for white! I like to play offbeat ("incorrect") lines in the Queen's Gambit (going for b4 asap), the Polish opening (early b5), the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit (c4 after exd4; before N-c3), and the Grob's Attack (early g5); in most of these you get a fighting asymmetrical game, in which your opponent is not likely to know the best moves. None of it is strictly 100% sound, but even strong players can''t play like a chess engine so it rarely matters.
...
What I can say about the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit is that it's easy to play, because it has a sort of mechanical nature. You can just follow a few reliable rules of thumb rather than memorize exact move sequences. These are the rules, in order of priority:
- Do not take an enemy piece unless the opponent blunderer a free piece.
- If the opponent took your piece, retake that piece in a way that develops.
- If you can push a pawn to displace an enemy piece, push that pawn.
- Develop a piece to take at least one good move away from the opponent.
- If you have no such developing moves, it is time for you to castle.
...
These rules get you through the early game pretty much entirely. Occasionally you will note an exception to these rules in a certain position, which is all that you need to actually memorize. Here's another way to look at the rules:
- Displace enemy pieces.
- Keep tension in the center.
- Develop your pieces.
Note that if you mix the order of these rules up, you sometimes don't push pawns to relieve tension and displace knights. Those lines... some of them are fine. But the pawn push is pretty much always better. That's why I don't like to operate too simply, with "keep the tension"; there are moments where you gain advantage by pawn advances.
...
An even simpler rule in the gambit:
- Try not to have pieces on squares where they are under threat.
This gambit is all about superior development. Do NOT get yourself into pins and binds.
Thanks for these rules; I know you commented this nearly a year ago but in the middlegame, how are you supposed to know the right moment to break the tension in the center that's been building? Is that just a matter of experience?
@@aniruddhvasishta8334 yes. also just middle game study
The line where you take back the pawn with the queen is actually the best one, recommended by Diemer himself (i recommend looking up his games using this opening, amazing stuff). It's super aggressive and there are a ton of traps black can fall into easily in just like, 10 moves. I think if you're gonna play the blackmar-diemer you might as well go all in.
The Ryder Gambit?
That's actually called the Ryder gambit, it's only good against players below 1500 because most players above that know all the tricks to it
Yeah let's play this gambit!
*plays black*
You can do the same thing with black, but without moving your other pawn first. Also, if they go D4, you can do albin counter gambit, or maybe even a reverse blackmar-diemer if they don't.

Hi Levy. I couldn't resist to say that I miss your videos so much as an Indonesian. The amount of negative comments towards you is unacceptable and I sincerely apologise for some of the Indonesians that are acting this way. I really miss watching your videos without using vpn. Really, you brought my love for chess and im all the way at 2000 in rapid and I couldn't have done that without watching your videos. Please continue to make these videos and I love you so much as a content creator. I hope you re consider making Indonesians allowed to watch your videos again without VPN. Please just realise that some Indonesians do not act this way and actually know how to play the game of chess. I dont care if you disable comments for Indonesians (if there's a setting for that, not too sure) or even not allowing indonesians to like/ dislike. I just want to watch your videos freely and I know alot of Indonesians miss your videos.
