  • He was an athlete and an entrepreneur. His natural football IQ was recognized by the Hamilton Tiger Cats, and at 23 years old he played for the Ti Cats in the 1971 season wearing number 46. His love for training and rowing was recognized by Neil Campbell, and Canada was the better for their rowing prowess. He kept his love for farming alive with the establishment of the Upper Canada Cheese Company in Jordan Station, Ontario. He improved urban landscapes through his construction company. Few in this life have a legacy like Wayne Philbrick. He was a friend of mine. He was a friend of mine, and he died on the Niagara Road,
Wayne, your leaf fell from the tree of life - and drifted by my window
Blown down by time and illness too
But we know your smile and we know some of your wishes
We’ll remember the tales of life you told
But now you’ve gone away these days are grow’in long
Still we can hear our own winter songs
And we know there'll be a time a time for us all
When our leaf of this life too will have to fall
    Instrumental
So we say goodbye for now Wayne and God Speed to you on your way
to get the field ready for those of us who will return and continue this magnificent game.
Instrumental Sound Track - He Was a Friend of Mine, arrangement by Willie Nelson.
Produced by Tom and Eva Salter
