Hey! I love your content, I hope you'll continue your content. It opened more of my eye to Dark Souls lore and the content you have is very relaxing to listen to. Thank you for your content and keep up the good work!!
Could you please do a video on the Deep? I really feel likes there’s some pretty important stuff lost in translation especially on things like Deep Protection.
Thank you Jefe, fresh and solid theories as always! I hope you’ll delve into the Demon Souls Remaster and Elden Ring (could help build your subscribers)! Wish you the best brother, keep up the excellent work 🤙🏼
The name of the Undead Legion is a play on words; it could also be interpreted as Undead Lesion, as in scar tissue. Scars are mentioned in the Cleansing Greatshield desc. (5:39), as well as in the Demon Scar. The Coiled Sword refers to Gundyr as a scabbard which is a play on the word, scab. (Aside: Consider how the runes of the Astora Straight Sword were translated as; "The Setting of the Sun was Delayed, A wound cuts deeper into Humanity") These might be references to the Blood of the Dark Soul. Legion is derived from levy, which is comparable to how Velka is Finnish for debt and the symbol of Londor (Phi) is pronounced fee. These might be references to Karmic debt. The symbol of Londor can be seen on the crucifixes of Farron, alongside the symbol of the Darkmoon. The symbol of Londor is also used to pin together the shrouds of the Farron "Ghosts" (as well as the Millwood Knights) "A pointed hat is the signature of a heretical sorceress" - Karla's Hat. The pointed hats of Logan, the Sages, the Sealers and the Legion follow this motif in reverence of Velka.
@@ChannelYoshimitsu I didn't translate it myself, it was ZullieTheWitch and her friend - googling "Astora runes" should take you to the source if you want to double-check. Astora seems to be a transposition of the word Ostara, referring to the pagan goddess of the Easter festival. The Blades of the Darkmoon covenant item says they were the original Blue Sentinels, and I think it's referring to the Astora Knights of Blue that were copied by Heide/Lindelt (there are knights in the Elite set, wielding Drakekeeper weapons in Eleum Loyce, and a dude with a Mirrah hat in the Frigid Outskirts) - see also the Golden Wing Shield and Spirit Tree Crest Shield, noted as shields of Knights of Blue. I think Velka was the original Darkmoon deity and precursor to Gwyndolin. The Sealers of New Londo wear Darkmoon pendants too. Maybe "Blades" of the Darkmoon actually designates them as Blades of Grass/Grâce? And the Legion's use of Swordgrass echoes this? (Bit of a stretch, but it goes with Velka=Filianore) I think Farron spellswords were a kind of Frumentarii that did covert ops and reconnaissance for the ULF (nice acronym; means Wolf in Norse) and had connections to the Vinheim spooks (hence Griggs' encampment there). They'd inherit Ciaran's legacy as assassins. I think the wound and scar might refer to the Dark Sigil and Darksign, caused by Filianore's Holy Spear, similar to King Arthur's spear wound in Parzifal, but it's hard to know for sure - it would fit in with the Lordvessel as the "Holy Grail". Sorry I'm rambling a bit.
Great video as always with lots of insightful. But I still believe that the "beast" (魔物) that Artorias made the pact was Kaathe (Kind of trying to "fix" the problem he caused in Oolacile by helping Artorias). But again Yoshimitsu Great theory :) I have a question about the citizens of Oolacile is there anything that was lost in the translations of the descriptions of your "heads" (The ones that you can equip) ?? And I also asked another question related to translations in the "discussions" area of your channel but I think you didn't see it if you could answer me I would be very grateful (Of course if it is not a problem for you) Again great video and I'm looking forward to the next :)
Thanks Erick! :) With the Oolacile Bloated Head & Bloated Sorcerer Head, I personally think the translations are quite spot on. Didn't really notice anything missing. Apologies for missing your previous comment. I will go over to the discussions and reply.
I just noticed the white hairs in the farron followers helmet and the shape of the helmet. Could the followers symbolize Ciaran? Also if they share the soul of the wolf blood master could that mean that Ciaran used Artorias's soul and Sif blood as a tie binding the Abyss watchers together.
I think it's very possible the Followers symbolize Ciaran. In my head-canon, Ciaran created the followers so no one falls to the Abyss like Artorias did. I personally assumed Ciaran created her own Greatsword from the Soul of Artorias but it's very possible she used the Soul of Artorias and Sif to bind the Abyss Watchers.
hey yoshimitsu,I have a question you say you take an discrepancy, you use Japanese as fact because of translation error,Granted there's plenty of lore aspects that make more sense because of the cultural implications that make more sense with a Japanese cultural view but I have heard that dark souls lore was actually written in English first
Hey! Nice line of thought once again. Only I cant help but feel you reading the entire Japanese description is too long and wastes time. I dont gain anything from that, because I dont speak a word of Japanese. Even if I did, like with the english texts, Im only waiting for the stuff you want to get to, because I can read them myself and, more often than not, already have over and over. If you only pointed out, what you feel is important about the descriptions maybe while showing them on screen for those who want to pause and read them again, you could save us a bit of time, I think. Anyways, keep it up!
Thanks for the great comment! :) In my future videos, I'll incorporate your feedback and decrease the amount I read from the Japanese text description unless it's relevant to the lore.
@@ChannelYoshimitsu Cool, Im excited to see whats coming! Maybe Im mistaken and it will feel like something is missing or anything like that, but Im positive your videos will benefit from a little tighter pace. Thanks for considering my feedback. :) Keep it up!
Please keep making videos. This is some of the best Souls content out there.
Thank you for the great comment!

I don't have one for the Deep immediately planned but I will try to see if I can get a script going regarding the Deep.
Fantastic videos! These are some of the most significant contributions to lore-hunting out there!
Thank you! I will do my best to keep uploading lore videos. :)
Brilliant videos, really hope to see you start uploading again
I'm back and will upload lore videos again.
Extremely insightful, as always. Thank you so much!
You're very welcome. :) Thank you for the great comment!

I was hollowed out, but the blessing from the Elden Ring has brought me back.

Demon Souls and Elden Ring are games that I definitely plan to cover the lore on. Thanks for the great comment brother!

I was unaware the runes on Astora Straight Sword translated as that. Hmmmm, mind if I use that for a future content?

I am still waiting your next video yoshimitsu 😀😀
Apologies for the delay. I've uploaded a new lore video for Seath. :)
amazing video!!!
Ah yes, cat lore has finally been explained
Yay more lore, yayyyy
Wouldnt the Ancient beast that Elizabeth is referring too (Manus) thus be the Abyss Beast that made a covenant with Artorias?
