The sideskirts for german tanks (besides the maus) are like 5mm thick. They add nothing in terms of protextion against anti tank guns. They only thing they were for is to help against things like AT rifles.

You might think that stealing a tank is not that easy to get away with. But I put it to you that it's very easy..... since you now have a tank. Remember though, it's best if you make sure you steal the ammunition as well. I can't see many police officers wanting to try and pull over a tank, I can see even less being willing after you lob a couple of HE rounds about the place.
With that said, if you want to get away with it you best bet is probably taking it out into the middle of nowhere away from everybody, they're less likely to see you as a major threat and call in the people with bigger, better tanks, or the airforce with flying tanks, to deal with you.

You are doing way too much^^ Check the contract requirements. You rarely need to repair a tank to 95% or more.
