Lived in sandal until uni and walked around Newmillerdam many times. Lots of memories! There used to be lots of fishermen there but didn’t see any in your blog. Most memorable walk was Xmas eve 1968 when we could see the moon, then went home to hear the Apollo 8 broadcast from moon orbit. Now live in Md USA, but a great reminder ! Thank you.
You're very welcome, Michael. The lake is still fished but not as often as it once was. I dated a girl from Newmillerdam in the late 70's and I remember walking around the lake and seeing lots of anglers there. Thanks for your comment and feedback. 😊
Great vlog Ivor, thank you. I live in Ossett and go to the Fox and Hounds regularly (in normal times) for the Sunday quiz but I have never been for a walk round Newmillerdam. I need to rectify that, I'm going to rectifty that. I was talking to my son a few minutes ago about it. You haven't got an ugly face, you've got a nice friendly face 😉
@@TheYorkshireVlogger one of the best bike rides I’ve ever had , intended to go via Walton , new miller dam is a place I’d passed many times but never visited, it was stunning, the railway path I took from high bridge ( Notton lane) is a gem , pugneys wow! I have got to take my grandson there to see and ride on the little steam engine , next in the list to visit is Sandal castle , thanks for the excellent videos .
Veo que hay muchos lugares por conocer aqui en Wakefield. Me gustaría que visites las minas creo que hay y si puedes mostrar algo que sea único para que sea más interesante. Pero debo decir que me gustó este video. Greetings I am from El Salvador 🇸🇻

My grandma Hanah Edith Shires, lived in the small cottage at the top of the hill on the memorial side. She spoke of royalty visiting and horses and carriages going along the east side of the lake with lord and lady Pilkingon. My Great grandfather used to light the lamps in the area, which then was all gas.

My favourite walking spot in Wakefield. Especially in the woods.
Yes, I agree. I'm going to film in the woods soon.
