the discount should be 50% as a single person is half of a couple, the 25% is already unfair & this would make it even worse.

Whatever way you look at it, cutting the winter fuel benefit is cynical, calculated and cannot be defended on any level. If they stop the 25% discount on council tax for single occupancy and charge National Insurance for people over pension age who are still working, then they compound the problem and show the true colours of the Labour Party.

Are they trying to imply everyone has to be married or have a partner, and they can't be independent if they want? Can they explain to me how I am supposed to work double the hours or take on two full-time jobs to compensate for this potential council tax rise? I am not a pensioner, but working two full-time jobs would be logistically impossible and they are going to be forcing people out of their homes! Shame! A phone in the office packed up so she said I'll get one out of the petty cash as it was only a bog standard phone you could pick up from Argos or Currys. The lady in charge said it has to come from the correct channels ie who they use. When it came through she looked at the invoice and couldn't believe the price . The price they had charged was £140 . @@oliverplays9598 I retired from NHS (also admin) 15 yrs ago and I said back then and still say it now there is so much money wasted in the NHS not least because there are too many chiefs earning whopping great salaries and the instances of issues like the one you mention are multiplied thousands of times, paying top whack for items of furniture and other everyday equipment. Not only that, it often took forever to replace something we could have got from WHSmiths or even the local supermarket. It's so inefficiently managed imo.
