Praying for you. I am a survivor of a Neuroendocrine tumor in my lung that had spread to my liver. The tumor in my lung was surgically removed, and the liver tumor was treated separately with a procedure that targeted my liver only. Be encouraged. 💙

Tiffany dear - you don't have lung or liver cancer. You have metastatic colon cancer. Your cancer from your bowel spread to these other organs. This is very different than lung or liver cancer. I know you don't like researching but I HIGHLY suggest you research clinical trials. Stage IV cancer is a different game & time is of the essence to attack it. Please, for your family. If you can't ask Matt or another family member. Don't rely only on the doctors. This is your life & you need to take responsibility in being proactive in this fight. 💙
Oh my goodness. Am a doctor and I didn’t realize she may think she has entirely different, new cancers??? Surely as an eye doctor, and with her sister a doctor, she understands that it is colon cancer that has spread??? I was going to comment as well but I didn’t realize she may think she has 3 cancers?!!!! Stage IV is scary but yes time to attack.

You’ll get through this Tiffany, I’ve been following you since your journey began, and I was diagnosed with a relapse back then. I’ve been going through treatment ever since and just taking one day at a time. Don’t worry too much about the future, and live each day to the fullest. I’m always saying that cancer has taken a lot from me ( I’ve been fighting this for 7 years since 2016 when I was 13 and relapsed in 2021) but I’m intentionally choosing to live each day fully without cancer taking over. Tiffany the MOST common sites for metastasis of colorectal cancer are the liver and lungs. You DO NOT have lung cancer or liver cancer. Your original cancer has spread to your lung and liver. It is still colorectal cancer and you need to be researching “colorectal cancer metastasis”, because treatments and prognosis for lung and liver cancer don’t apply to you. Please have a conversation with your oncologist and have the basics explained. As someone who has spent a lot of time as a patient, it’s really important to be educated so you can advocate for yourself. Metastasis is very serious and needs to be treated aggressively! My advice would be: 1. Bring someone knowledgeable with you to your appointments so they can help ask pertinent questions, and understand what is being said. 2. Ask to please record your appointments, so you can listen back to them. It’s easy to forget things when a lot of information is being shared. 3. Ask your oncologist to clearly explain metastasis and what this means for your individual prognosis and treatment options. 4. Research clinic trials appropriate to your specific disease. 5. Push your doctors about clinic trials and if you can be included in any. 6. Get second opinions on the best course of treatment. Sending you so much love 💙💙💙
I totally agree with you. A patient and/ or caregiver needs to be informed/ educated to be able to ask the right questions and advocate for themselves.
Good points. On recording, I usually don't ask for permission because I don't want it to affect the interaction. Plus I'm not recording video. So I simply turn on my voice recorder app before they walk in. It's frustrating when people say they don't remember what was said. I'm like hello.. Record it. And also research questions to ask.
Excellent advice! She should print this comment and paste it in her bullet journal. Of course, she should definitely seek other opinions; it’s a common practice in oncology centers. She should especially request an opinion on different treatment options and clinical trials at Gustave Roussy Hospital, which is one of the best oncology centers in Europe/the world. Seeking a second opinion won’t cost her much, if anything.
Such good advice! I understand that her mum and partner love and care very deeply for her and that this naturally hard for them. However it’s important to bring the right person to the appointment, it’s not good to be more worried about other people and upsetting them when dealing with something so serious.
People have been saying this for a year+. The lack of education and self advocacy has been concerning since this cancer was diagnosed. Amma & the boyfriend are too emotionally involved.
Remember that if cancer is in your lungs and liver it’s not lung cancer or liver cancer. It’s bowel cancer that has spread to those places. So don’t google “lung or liver cancer” that has nothing to do with your situation. They are completely different kinds of cancer. I wouldn’t google anyways, but if you do make sure to research the right disease.

Yes and they found a tiny lesion on the liver with the MRI for bowel, too small for biopsy at the the time so they thought it was possibly inflammation but why doesn’t she remember ?
@@EmyUrban Trauma, I imagine. It was very traumatic at the time but she had a lot of trauma after that. I can understand how she would forget. I’m just trying to remind her that it was mentioned and hopefully it, again, turns out to be nothing.

Hi Tiffany, I wish you all the best like we all do. I hope though that you equip yourself with at least some basic knowledge. It will help you because realistically , you need it in case you are faced with making decisions in the future re treatment options. The liver is usually the first site colorectal cancer spreads to and next the lung. If you dont want to do chemo or if it isnt effective pls research Immunotherapy. Some have had good results with it.

I have read and followed all your blogs and I know in your shock you have mentioned that you’ve never had anyone mention liver but on one video you mentioned your surgeon told you and Matt that the likelihood was there could be mets in the liver and the lungs and it might be best to watch and wait before going through such extensive surgery. The title of the video is “No Surgery” *cancer I hope for the best results for you!
I remember that too. It seems Tiffany doesn't always retain information very well, not because of the situation (which of course is stressful) but in general. I followed her before all this and noticed it especially short term memory. It's one of the reasons we suggested someone other than Amma be at all the appointments to enable a clear understanding as Amma first language isn't English. I'm surprised someone from her MDT doesn't provide something in the way of a living document for notes to be added and copied to her. We do that where I'm from. It gives people a chance to go home, take a breath & go over the appointments and updates. It also helps the person prepare questions for the next appt. It is very disappointing that doctors haven't ensured she remained aware though. She has such faith in this oncologist that I don't think she'd have entertained a second opinion. Let's hope he can live up to that faith as this situation is awful for her 😢

Watch the video (or 2) right after that one because she was angry and was planning to confront the surgeon for more detailed info. She heard everything he said, as well as his warnings because she recorded the whole visit. She came back the next video, with: "Matt and I talked and I've decided ..." She changed her mind based on the two of them discussing the situation without either one having had any knowledge or experience on the topic. I was totally invested in her story then, until I heard her twisting things to suit her, which she was surprisingly good at.
It scares me that you dont know the basics. This isnt liver and lung cancer. It is still Colorectal cancer. You dont need to know everything but you cant ask the right questions if you dont know the basics. I am not being condescending or critical. I am concerned about you because metastatic cancer is much more serious than where you were last year. Pls dont waste time , make the right choices. There are patients who go on to do well even in this situation. I hope you will too.
Even though this is true going through something like this is terrifying and if she doesn’t want to learn the basics she doesn’t have to the doctors should be telling her what she needs to know and if there’s any confusion then ask them but researching on your own when you have this can be such a bad thing for your mental health, the doctors will do what they think is best and if the person going through this doesn’t want to learn more then that’s okay what ever gets them through this hard time.
@@Muluue i have been through this as a caregiver. It helps a lot when you do your own research so you can ask the right questions. Drs dont have hours with each patient to tell you everything you need to know. I have siblings who are Drs, their knowledge + my own research gave me a big advantage when our dad was ill with cancer. Also when my husband was ill though not with cancer. As a result he did much better and his specialist was very pleased he didnt have to explain the basics to us. Have you watched SJ Strum's channel? She and her sister were very hands on, did theif own research including about immunotherapy which the NHS isnt offering. So when the NHS Drs said they couldnt do anymore, they knew where to go next.

There are a lot of things that help and it's important because something is causing it to keep returning and there are lots of natural things she can do to help.

Unfortunately Tiffany it is what it is. I’ve had 2 different cancers within 3 years and like you never thought it’d come back so soon. But now that it has come back again I’m not anxious or scared of it occurring again. I know it will and when it does I’ll deal with it again. You have the best attitude in being you and not changing your new flow of life. Keep going - one day at a time. I’ve had PET scan every year and I’m quite “meh” about it now. I know it’ll be back but I’m not going to dictate my life because of that fact. We are all here for you.💙
Tiffany, my husband, a physician, wS diagnosed with colon cancer 20 years ago. At the time, he was told it was a small tumor and not aggressive. He had a surgical removal in which several inches of bowel were removed to ensure clean margins. He did not lose enough bowel to require even a temporary stoma. He was told he would not need radiation or chemo. Exactly 4 months post surgery he had a tumor on his liver. He was fortunate to find a very skilled surgeon who told him he could respect his liver and remove the tumor. My husband had the surgery and subsequent chemotherapy. It is very common for colorectal cancer to metastasized to the liver. As I said, that all happened 20 years ago. My husband celebrated his 80th birthday this year in May, and did not retire from his medical practice until this past January!! I am sharing his story to encourage you to keep your chin up and don't stop fighting. You are incredibly strong and if you need more c h emo and surgery you can handle it. It is a big blow, and very scary, but it is not the end of the road. Merely another battle in the war, and you are a warrior. We are praying for you.

you are so right that all of this cancer stuff is horrible. As a 2 time cancer survivor i can share that my cancer journey has definitely changed me in many ways. Life is really never the same but that is true for any major life event, I have found that i don’t sweat the little stuff in life anymore, and strangely even though cancer returning is always in the back of my mind i have learned to live with that, Please know that a normal, joyful and productive life can exist even with cancer concerns.
What many of you are not addressing or remembering is that Her original tumor adenocarcinoma of the rectum was staged at 4b as it had spread to nearby lymph nodes and through the colonic tissues to other surrounding tissue, thus stage 4b. She was put on hold for months having chemotherapy and no surgery for a long time and at one point she was unable to reach her surgeon as she waited for a possible surgery date. Waiting and waiting. She had a number of biopsies, one from an unfamiliar surgeon who was unable to access tumor site due to tumor invasion. Very unprofessional approach in my experience.This all while she was being put on hold by UK health system asking if she was ever to have surgery. So many professional supporters were outraged by this approach to her dangerous situation including me. Finally she had her extensive surgery but no follow up chemo. This is fragmented and very questionable treatment of this type of cancer situation. What do other professionals out there think about this
SHE decided against immediate surgery lived her life, but then found that her surgeon was ill (with no one taking over his case load?) - IDK what to think anymore.
Stoma dryness isn't related to your liver. If it is metastases it means the remnants of cancer cells in colo rectal area have travelled through your lymphatic system to your liver and/or lungs. It is still the original cancer but is no longer contained.
It probably happened before her surgery . The primary tumour has been removed but the bad news is some cells migrated before that to distant organs. The signs in the lung nodule was there. Sometimes it takes time for it to show up. That is why so soon after the surgery here she is. So long as they can still treat it , it is relatively good news.
@@Sunshine-zi4nq I don't think so. If they'd have suspected Mets in her lung before pelvic exteneration, they'd have made sure it was or wasn't and advised her accordingly, surely? What was she advised about the original lung nodules? There must have been scans etc to determine its origins?
@@sharonhoward884 it was stated then that they couldn't biopsy the lung nodule or confirm on a scan if it was cancerous because it was too small. The first hosp thought it was which is why they staged her as stage 4 and refused surgery. The RM gave it the benefit of the doubt but I remember her saying the surgeon mentioned that while they got clear margins of the primary tumour , they couldn't be sure it had no spread elsewhere.
Tiffany, although this is not gonna be an easy thing to do, you MUST ask your oncologist to tell you about Adenocarcinoma!!! I’m not a doctor but I’ve been through this w/my sister just a year ago. Please talk to your doctor. It makes you better able to prepare so you can be your own best advocate. Take care. I will continue to pray for you & your family. 🙏
Is adenocarcinoma her primary cancer? Because if it’s not, there’s no possibility that it’s adeno. Mets comes always comes thru as the patients initial primary carcinoma.
watch her video from 10/25/21 it has that type in her thumbnail. At first they thought there was a misdiagnosis, but then her surgeon repeated her PET scan & confirmed that it had spread to the lungs. Nothing about her liver until just this most recent follow-up scan, hence the MRI for the liver. Everyone is correct when they say everyone’s cancer is unique to them, but the specialist have the data & history of the different types & they pretty much know what those cells are gonna do or have already seated. She needs to tape her visits so she can go over what they tell her.
You're absolutely right to take one step at a time Tiffany. Googling will only worry you unnecessarily. So lovely to see you so upbeat and positive. Always try to live in the moment. You'll be fine. What they have found is very small and so whatever it is, they'll deal with it. We got this 💪💙💙💙
Hi Tiffany! I have a suggestion about googling and researching your treatments. As a friend or family member to get the information that you want. That way you don’t get sucked into the rabbit hole of information. It’s complicated when you have a chronic illness, and it’s important not to get too overwhelmed when you can. Best wishes.
Tiffany, it is totally normal to have up and down days! I have noticed this in myself as well with the issues that I am struggling with. Some days I feel like "I got this, and other days I cry and feel like all I see is darkness ahead. I've found it really helps me to remember that I'm not in control of any of it. I have to just take each day as it comes, and remember that God has His plans and His will for me and my life. I pray often for the Lord to take my anxiety and fear away, and replace it with His perfect peace. It's easier said than done, for sure! Thank you for keeping us updated, and know that so many of us around the world care about you. I am praying for you daily! ❤
Hi Tiffany, you are correct about cancer can comeback at anytime. I wonder if your doctor explained that to you after you finished all your treatment or even from the very beginning? They should have made that very clear to you so you wouldn’t be so shocked if it did return. Communication it key.
Isn't it amazing how just running into one person can change your whole mood and thought process and help to make a difficult task easier. With all the negativity in the world we need to remember a simple smile or a kind gesture can literally affect someone's whole day and bring a smile to their face. I sure do love when this happens.

I am glad you had a follower meet you in the MRI Waiting room. I think it helps to have someone to talk to that is experiencing the same things. She was a lovely lady and I believe she is just what you needed at the time. YOU GOT THIS TIFFANY!!!!!
It really matters what stage you are Tiffany. Anyone can get cancer. If someone has Stage 1, the chances of it coming back are really low. The higher the stage, 4 usually is incurable, the more chance it can come back. You should really look into what Stage you are. There is a big difference between 3 and 4. The benchmark is five years. If you can go five years without cancer, you are considered "cured". I had Stage 1 breast cancer, did all the things chem included. I have been "cancer free" for two years. I won't feel like I am cured until I have gone five years without cancer.
I wouldn't even think 5 years would be enough to be cured, some cancers don't make a reoccurrence until many years after that. DCIS for example which is what I had they say can lay dormant up to 10 years and that at the 10 year mark it was more common that at the 5 year mark of coming back.
Tiffany you are a warrior. I made the mistake of Googling my cancer and joining a support group. It was not for me. It gave me too much anxiety reading about my cancer and hearing others roads they have traveled.
I just started watching your journey. My prayers are with you during these tough times . I lost all of my siblings within a 2 year period (2 brothers and one sister) in 2020. I am still grieving and cursing cancer. I am the only family member left so I know how difficult a journey this is for you and your family. Love and hope sent to you.
Ok, I'm going to say this lovingly but very forthrightly, and re worded this more encouragingly I do hope. You do have a professional group with more info than you can probably take in by yourself. Cancer is an extremely complex disease that is so involved beyond compare in every single person it affects. The treatment follows a gold standard up to a point per the type of primary cancer, but branches into so many different protocols per the bodie's response to meds/chemo et al. Take heart Tiffany The best place to be is with your care team, i.e. Onco docs, nurses, support team, i.e psychologist, etc. An integrative approach between your full team. That is what they are there for. You. YOU, and YOU again! Good caring people are all around u already too. The family, eoe, that is the icing on the cake. Use the hell out of the docs in a professional but very proactive way. The word proactive I cannot stress enough. This is your right as a patient. Your duty is to live abundantly everyday as full as you can, with love, and laughter in your life. How wonderful is that! Now, go to it!!🎉!❤
My poor liver has been under assault for years and years. Not from my disease but from my treatments Shes been fighting for me all this time. I’m always surprised that she survives and regenerates beautifully. I imaging that she’s on the front line everyday.
Comments like this give me hope! They found 10+ tumours in my liver when scanning my body after my thyroid cancer diagnosis, but ruled out thyroid cancer spreading there, so now I have no idea what they are! I now on the wait list for surgery to remove my cochlear implant so I can have an MRI on my liver. Stressful times but comments like this help... Thank you for sharing and wishing you all the best.
At least you have the option of chemotherapy. My mother was just informed that there is nothing they can do and she has about a year left. Sometimes we don't appreciate how blessed we truly are in a bad situation.

I do not know how you do it , I am an oncology RN and believe me , you have handled all of this with grace ..I am a type A person that worries alot , the scanxiety seems to be one of the worst times for patients , waiting for the scans and then the results , YOU do what you want to , googling can take you down deep rabbit holes .. no one can tell you how to react , you have done a great job ❤
Definitely get the doctors to explain to you the metastasis process. My sister had bowel cancer which had spread to her liver and lungs. The bowel was totally cleared with surgery and chemo but unfortunately the liver cannot be transplanted after chemo so the only option for these sites is chemo and/or radiation therapy. Bowel cancer often spreads to these areas - they are linked somehow. Sending you lots of love and prayers 💙

Prayers for you Tiffany. The anxiety before any scan is normal just try and focus on the positive vibes that your Tiffanythinks family are sending your way. Take things one step at a time. You have a great support system in place lean on each other for support. We got this, Tiffany.💙💙💙🙏🙏🙏💙💙💙 Ask questions to your medical team, be careful about googling because some things aren’t reliable and could mislead you. Also googling can be scary. I made that mistake myself when I had thyroid issues that the biopsy showed as possible cancer, when in fact it was a benign adenoma and a common autoimmune disease called hashimoto. The liver itself acts as a filter from certain medications and is resilient in that if a tiny portion is removed the rest of the liver still can filter things out. The lesion in there is quite small so depending on what the diagnosis is doesn’t necessarily mean doing chemo. Take it one step at a time. Hopefully they will biopsy both the nodule in the lung and liver before they have a plan for course of treatment. Try to accent on positive as we uplift you in healing prayers. Thanks for your kind words 🥰@@Sedgies no I haven't thought of adoption yet , we were in a fertility procedure with the hope to have several options to give it a try when they hit us with the "cancer news" , it left me traumatized behind that it's still hard to accept that I Will never B be a parent, and some might think that adopting will soften the pain , but that's not the case...
As gut-wrenching as I can only imagine this is, thank goodness they are looking for any little rogue fires that may pop up along the way and put them out immediately so they can't go anywhere else. Hopefully it's just a little cyst that they found incidentally and are being very aggressive in checking it out. You're right to do what you need to do and just keep living your life. The video you done for the pet scan I thought you were trying to convince yourself it was going to be all ok. You kept saying it's going to be ok but looked as if you still had.doubts and that's totally normal. We all react differently to news and anyone's reaction is totally normal. I do hope you get good news, but whatever happens give yourself time to process what you are told, good news or bad you need to mentally process it. I can’t wear a ponytail either , I get a headache too. I’ve tried the silk scrunchies . They are better but only for a little while . The Biriyani Abba made looked delish ! I love a proper veg Biriyani , slow cooked in the oven , with saffron, cardamon , almond flakes and deep fried onions sprinkled on top! (The ones in the restaurants are just rice with veg cooked on the stove).. It’s amazing that you met one of us! It’s nice for you and her 🥰 . I’m not a fan of MRIs as they make me feel claustrophobic (. At one hospital they have a large one so that was better and I didn’t feel claustrophobic) . Tiffany it’s normal when you have any serious illness to feel strong and feel. you can fight it and other times feel defeated! Take each day at a time. Remember that each day is a blessing🙏❤️. I have 10+ tumours in my liver. I also have thyroid cancer. They have ruled out thyroid cancer in my liver as it did not light up in my scan for thyroid cancer. So now I am waiting to have surgery to remove my cochlear implant so I can have an MRI on my liver. Scary times but we got this!
My daughter in law...Malary age 38 had a PET-scan last week. Today she found out she has stage 3 Pelvic lymph node cancer. In 4 weeks she will start 36 radiology treatments. ALSO CHEMO ONCE A WEEK. She had her cervix and uterus removed 2 weeks ago. Cancer showed up then. She had fibroids.. please pray for her. She is not saved. I told my son...we got this. You got too. Tiffany your so incredible. You give me so much hope. My daughter who's 17 has a tumour on her brain, which we had surgery when she was 8 as it caused hydrocephalus. My concern now is she is fainting every month and her periods are all over the place and have been for a year. Praying for you. I am a survivor of a Neuroendocrine tumor in my lung that had spread to my liver. The tumor in my lung was surgically removed, and the liver tumor was treated separately with a procedure that targeted my liver only. Be encouraged. 💙

Tiffany dear - you don't have lung or liver cancer. You have metastatic colon cancer. Your cancer from your bowel spread to these other organs. This is very different than lung or liver cancer. I know you don't like researching but I HIGHLY suggest you research clinical trials. Stage IV cancer is a different game & time is of the essence to attack it. Please, for your family. If you can't ask Matt or another family member. Don't rely only on the doctors. This is your life & you need to take responsibility in being proactive in this fight. 💙

Surely as an eye doctor, and with her sister a doctor, she understands that it is colon cancer that has spread??? You’ll get through this Tiffany, I’ve been following you since your journey began, and I was diagnosed with a relapse back then. I’ve been going through treatment ever since and just taking one day at a time. Don’t worry too much about the future, and live each day to the fullest. I’m always saying that cancer has taken a lot from me ( I’ve been fighting this for 7 years since 2016 when I was 13 and relapsed in 2021) but I’m intentionally choosing to live each day fully without cancer taking over. It won’t necessarily be a different chemo. If this cancer is from the original source, it’s the same cancer, just metastatic. It’s not a new cancer.

Tiffany the MOST common sites for metastasis of colorectal cancer are the liver and lungs. You DO NOT have lung cancer or liver cancer. Your original cancer has spread to your lung and liver. It is still colorectal cancer and you need to be researching “colorectal cancer metastasis”, because treatments and prognosis for lung and liver cancer don’t apply to you. Please have a conversation with your oncologist and have the basics explained. As someone who has spent a lot of time as a patient, it’s really important to be educated so you can advocate for yourself. Metastasis is very serious and needs to be treated aggressively!
My advice would be:
1. Bring someone knowledgeable with you to your appointments so they can help ask pertinent questions, and understand what is being said.
2. Ask to please record your appointments, so you can listen back to them. It’s easy to forget things when a lot of information is being shared.
3. Ask your oncologist to clearly explain metastasis and what this means for your individual prognosis and treatment options.
4. Research clinic trials appropriate to your specific disease.
5. Push your doctors about clinic trials and if you can be included in any.
6. Get second opinions on the best course of treatment.

Good points. On recording, I usually don't ask for permission because I don't want it to affect the interaction. Plus I'm not recording video. So I simply turn on my voice recorder app before they walk in. It's frustrating when people say they don't remember what was said. I'm like hello.. Record it. And also research questions to ask.
Excellent advice! She should print this comment and paste it in her bullet journal. Of course, she should definitely seek other opinions; it’s a common practice in oncology centers. She should especially request an opinion on different treatment options and clinical trials at Gustave Roussy Hospital, which is one of the best oncology centers in Europe/the world. Seeking a second opinion won’t cost her much, if anything.
Such good advice! I understand that her mum and partner love and care very deeply for her and that this naturally hard for them. However it’s important to bring the right person to the appointment, it’s not good to be more worried about other people and upsetting them when dealing with something so serious.
People have been saying this for a year+. The lack of education and self advocacy has been concerning since this cancer was diagnosed. Amma & the boyfriend are too emotionally involved.
Remember that if cancer is in your lungs and liver it’s not lung cancer or liver cancer. It’s bowel cancer that has spread to those places. So don’t google “lung or liver cancer” that has nothing to do with your situation. They are completely different kinds of cancer. I wouldn’t google anyways, but if you do make sure to research the right disease.

Yes and they found a tiny lesion on the liver with the MRI for bowel, too small for biopsy at the the time so they thought it was possibly inflammation but why doesn’t she remember ?

Hi Tiffany, I wish you all the best like we all do. I hope though that you equip yourself with at least some basic knowledge. It will help you because realistically , you need it in case you are faced with making decisions in the future re treatment options. The liver is usually the first site colorectal cancer spreads to and next the lung. If you dont want to do chemo or if it isnt effective pls research Immunotherapy. Some have had good results with it.

I have read and followed all your blogs and I know in your shock you have mentioned that you’ve never had anyone mention liver but on one video you mentioned your surgeon told you and Matt that the likelihood was there could be mets in the liver and the lungs and it might be best to watch and wait before going through such extensive surgery. I remember that too. It seems Tiffany doesn't always retain information very well, not because of the situation (which of course is stressful) but in general. I followed her before all this and noticed it especially short term memory. It's one of the reasons we suggested someone other than Amma be at all the appointments to enable a clear understanding as Amma first language isn't English. I'm surprised someone from her MDT doesn't provide something in the way of a living document for notes to be added and copied to her. We do that where I'm from. It gives people a chance to go home, take a breath & go over the appointments and updates. It also helps the person prepare questions for the next appt. It is very disappointing that doctors haven't ensured she remained aware though. She has such faith in this oncologist that I don't think she'd have entertained a second opinion. Let's hope he can live up to that faith as this situation is awful for her 😢

Watch the video (or 2) right after that one because she was angry and was planning to confront the surgeon for more detailed info. She heard everything he said, as well as his warnings because she recorded the whole visit.
She came back the next video, with: "Matt and I talked and I've decided ..." She changed her mind based on the two of them discussing the situation without either one having had any knowledge or experience on the topic.
I was totally invested in her story then, until I heard her twisting things to suit her, which she was surprisingly good at.
It scares me that you dont know the basics. This isnt liver and lung cancer. It is still Colorectal cancer. You dont need to know everything but you cant ask the right questions if you dont know the basics. I am not being condescending or critical. I am concerned about you because metastatic cancer is much more serious than where you were last year. Pls dont waste time , make the right choices. There are patients who go on to do well even in this situation. I hope you will too.
Even though this is true going through something like this is terrifying and if she doesn’t want to learn the basics she doesn’t have to the doctors should be telling her what she needs to know and if there’s any confusion then ask them but researching on your own when you have this can be such a bad thing for your mental health, the doctors will do what they think is best and if the person going through this doesn’t want to learn more then that’s okay what ever gets them through this hard time.
@@Muluue i have been through this as a caregiver. It helps a lot when you do your own research so you can ask the right questions. Drs dont have hours with each patient to tell you everything you need to know. I have siblings who are Drs, their knowledge + my own research gave me a big advantage when our dad was ill with cancer. Also when my husband was ill though not with cancer. As a result he did much better and his specialist was very pleased he didnt have to explain the basics to us. Have you watched SJ Strum's channel? She and her sister were very hands on, did theif own research including about immunotherapy which the NHS isnt offering. So when the NHS Drs said they couldnt do anymore, they knew where to go next.

Unfortunately Tiffany it is what it is. I’ve had 2 different cancers within 3 years and like you never thought it’d come back so soon. But now that it has come back again I’m not anxious or scared of it occurring again. I know it will and when it does I’ll deal with it again. You have the best attitude in being you and not changing your new flow of life. Keep going - one day at a time. I’ve had PET scan every year and I’m quite “meh” about it now. Tiffany, my husband, a physician, wS diagnosed with colon cancer 20 years ago. At the time, he was told it was a small tumor and not aggressive. He had a surgical removal in which several inches of bowel were removed to ensure clean margins. He did not lose enough bowel to require even a temporary stoma. He was told he would not need radiation or chemo. Exactly 4 months post surgery he had a tumor on his liver. He was fortunate to find a very skilled surgeon who told him he could respect his liver and remove the tumor. My husband had the surgery and subsequent chemotherapy. It is very common for colorectal cancer to metastasized to the liver. As I said, that all happened 20 years ago. My husband celebrated his 80th birthday this year in May, and did not retire from his medical practice until this past January!! I am sharing his story to encourage you to keep your chin up and don't stop fighting. You are incredibly strong and if you need more c h emo and surgery you can handle it. It is a big blow, and very scary, but it is not the end of the road. Merely another battle in the war, and you are a warrior. We are praying for you.

you are so right that all of this cancer stuff is horrible. As a 2 time cancer survivor i can share that my cancer journey has definitely changed me in many ways. Life is really never the same but that is true for any major life event, I have found that i don’t sweat the little stuff in life anymore, and strangely even though cancer returning is always in the back of my mind i have learned to live with that, Please know that a normal, joyful and productive life can exist even with cancer concerns.
What many of you are not addressing or remembering is that
Her original tumor adenocarcinoma of the rectum was staged at 4b as it had spread to nearby lymph nodes and through the colonic tissues to other surrounding tissue, thus stage 4b. She was put on hold for months having chemotherapy and no surgery for a long time and at one point she was unable to reach her surgeon as she waited for a possible surgery date. Waiting and waiting. She had a number of biopsies, one from an unfamiliar surgeon who was unable to access tumor site due to tumor invasion. Very unprofessional approach in my experience.This all while she was being put on hold by UK health system asking if she was ever to have surgery. So many professional supporters were outraged by this approach to her dangerous situation including me. Finally she had her extensive surgery but no follow up chemo. This is fragmented and very questionable treatment of this type of cancer situation. What do other professionals out there think about this
SHE decided against immediate surgery lived her life, but then found that her surgeon was ill (with no one taking over his case load?) - IDK what to think anymore.

Stoma dryness isn't related to your liver. If it is metastases it means the remnants of cancer cells in colo rectal area have travelled through your lymphatic system to your liver and/or lungs. It is still the original cancer but is no longer contained.
It probably happened before her surgery . The primary tumour has been removed but the bad news is some cells migrated before that to distant organs. The signs in the lung nodule was there. Sometimes it takes time for it to show up. That is why so soon after the surgery here she is. So long as they can still treat it , it is relatively good news.
@@Sunshine-zi4nq I don't think so. If they'd have suspected Mets in her lung before pelvic exteneration, they'd have made sure it was or wasn't and advised her accordingly, surely? What was she advised about the original lung nodules? There must have been scans etc to determine its origins?
@@sharonhoward884 it was stated then that they couldn't biopsy the lung nodule or confirm on a scan if it was cancerous because it was too small. The first hosp thought it was which is why they staged her as stage 4 and refused surgery. The RM gave it the benefit of the doubt but I remember her saying the surgeon mentioned that while they got clear margins of the primary tumour , they couldn't be sure it had no spread elsewhere.

Is adenocarcinoma her primary cancer? Because if it’s not, there’s no possibility that it’s adeno. Mets comes always comes thru as the patients initial primary carcinoma.

watch her video from 10/25/21 it has that type in her thumbnail. At first they thought there was a misdiagnosis, but then her surgeon repeated her PET scan & confirmed that it had spread to the lungs. Nothing about her liver until just this most recent follow-up scan, hence the MRI for the liver. Everyone is correct when they say everyone’s cancer is unique to them, but the specialist have the data & history of the different types & they pretty much know what those cells are gonna do or have already seated. She needs to tape her visits so she can go over what they tell her.

That way you don’t get sucked into the rabbit hole of information. It’s complicated when you have a chronic illness, and it’s important not to get too overwhelmed when you can. Best wishes.
Tiffany, it is totally normal to have up and down days! I have noticed this in myself as well with the issues that I am struggling with. Some days I feel like "I got this, and other days I cry and feel like all I see is darkness ahead. I've found it really helps me to remember that I'm not in control of any of it. I have to just take each day as it comes, and remember that God has His plans and His will for me and my life. I pray often for the Lord to take my anxiety and fear away, and replace it with His perfect peace. It's easier said than done, for sure!

It really matters what stage you are Tiffany. Anyone can get cancer. If someone has Stage 1, the chances of it coming back are really low. The higher the stage, 4 usually is incurable, the more chance it can come back. You should really look into what Stage you are. There is a big difference between 3 and 4. The benchmark is five years. If you can go five years without cancer, you are considered "cured". I had Stage 1 breast cancer, did all the things chem included. I have been "cancer free" for two years. I won't feel like I am cured until I have gone five years without cancer.
I wouldn't even think 5 years would be enough to be cured, some cancers don't make a reoccurrence until many years after that. DCIS for example which is what I had they say can lay dormant up to 10 years and that at the 10 year mark it was more common that at the 5 year mark of coming back.

Tiffany you are a warrior. I made the mistake of Googling my cancer and joining a support group. It was not for me. It gave me too much anxiety reading about my cancer and hearing others roads they have traveled.
I just started watching your journey. My prayers are with you during these tough times . I lost all of my siblings within a 2 year period (2 brothers and one sister) in 2020. I am still grieving and cursing cancer. I am the only family member left so I know how difficult a journey this is for you and your family. Love and hope sent to you.
Ok, I'm going to say this lovingly but very forthrightly, and re worded this more encouragingly I do hope.
You do have a professional group with more info than you can probably take in by yourself. Cancer is an extremely complex disease that is so involved beyond compare in every single person it affects. The treatment follows a gold standard up to a point per the type of primary cancer, but branches into so many different protocols per the bodie's response to meds/chemo et al. Take heart Tiffany
The best place to be is with your care team, i.e. Onco docs, nurses, support team, i.e
psychologist, etc. An integrative approach between your full team. That is what they are there for. You. YOU, and YOU again!
Good caring people are all around u already too. The family, eoe, that is the icing on the cake. Use the hell out of the docs in a professional but very proactive way. The word proactive I cannot stress enough. This is your right as a patient. Your duty is to live abundantly everyday as full as you can, with love, and laughter in your life. How wonderful is that! Now, go to it!!🎉!❤
My poor liver has been under assault for years and years. Not from my disease but from my treatments Shes been fighting for me all this time. I’m always surprised that she survives and regenerates beautifully. I imaging that she’s on the front line everyday.

They found 10+ tumours in my liver when scanning my body after my thyroid cancer diagnosis, but ruled out thyroid cancer spreading there, so now I have no idea what they are! I now on the wait list for surgery to remove my cochlear implant so I can have an MRI on my liver. Stressful times but comments like this help... Thank you for sharing and wishing you all the best.

At least you have the option of chemotherapy. My mother was just informed that there is nothing they can do and she has about a year left. Sometimes we don't appreciate how blessed we truly are in a bad situation.

Definitely get the doctors to explain to you the metastasis process. My sister had bowel cancer which had spread to her liver and lungs. The bowel was totally cleared with surgery and chemo but unfortunately the liver cannot be transplanted after chemo so the only option for these sites is chemo and/or radiation therapy. Bowel cancer often spreads to these areas - they are linked somehow. Sending you lots of love and prayers 💙

Ask questions to your medical team, be careful about googling because some things aren’t reliable and could mislead you. Also googling can be scary. I made that mistake myself when I had thyroid issues that the biopsy showed as possible cancer, when in fact it was a benign adenoma and a common autoimmune disease called hashimoto.
The liver itself acts as a filter from certain medications and is resilient in that if a tiny portion is removed the rest of the liver still can filter things out. The lesion in there is quite small so depending on what the diagnosis is doesn’t necessarily mean doing chemo. Take it one step at a time. Hopefully they will biopsy both the nodule in the lung and liver before they have a plan for course of treatment. Try to accent on positive as we uplift you in healing prayers. As gut-wrenching as I can only imagine this is, thank goodness they are looking for any little rogue fires that may pop up along the way and put them out immediately so they can't go anywhere else. Hopefully it's just a little cyst that they found incidentally and are being very aggressive in checking it out. You're right to do what you need to do and just keep living your life. The video you done for the pet scan I thought you were trying to convince yourself it was going to be all ok. You kept saying it's going to be ok but looked as if you still had.doubts and that's totally normal. We all react differently to news and anyone's reaction is totally normal. I do hope you get good news, but whatever happens give yourself time to process what you are told, good news or bad you need to mentally process it. I can’t wear a ponytail either , I get a headache too. I’ve tried the silk scrunchies . They are better but only for a little while .
The Biriyani Abba made looked delish ! I love a proper veg Biriyani , slow cooked in the oven , with saffron, cardamon , almond flakes and deep fried onions sprinkled on top! (The ones in the restaurants are just rice with veg cooked on the stove)..
It’s amazing that you met one of us! It’s nice for you and her 🥰 . I’m not a fan of MRIs as they make me feel claustrophobic (. At one hospital they have a large one so that was better and I didn’t feel claustrophobic) . Tiffany it’s normal when you have any serious illness to feel strong and feel. you can fight it and other times feel defeated! Take each day at a time. Remember that each day is a blessing🙏❤️. My daughter in law...Malary age 38 had a PET-scan last week. Today she found out she has stage 3 Pelvic lymph node cancer. In 4 weeks she will start 36 radiology treatments. ALSO CHEMO ONCE A WEEK. She had her cervix and uterus removed 2 weeks ago. Cancer showed up then. She had fibroids.. please pray for her. She is not saved. I told my son...we got this. You got too. Tiffany your so incredible. You give me so much hope. My daughter who's 17 has a tumour on her brain, which we had surgery when she was 8 as it caused hydrocephalus. My concern now is she is fainting every month and her periods are all over the place and have been for a year. We have just found out my mother in law has cancer down below and I am finding it hard to get my daughter to be seen. Even though she has a tumour in her brain and hasn't had an MRI for 2 years. She is due one and I have read so much research and am worried her tumour is growing again and is affecting her fertility
My daughter is now 17 and she passed out on Sunday early hours. So sick of being ignored by doctors

If it is cancer in your liver, it is very small and the treatment wont be anything like you had before. I have a problem with anxiety too and it can takd over you!! Sending prayer and positive thoughts to you. For a pain free pony tail, first make a smaller one with the front and top hair. Then bring the rest of your hair up and add a second ponytail holder on top of the first. I saw this on youtube and can't believe the difference in ponytail comfort.
