    Ken goes Cruising is a channel dedicated to sharing our experience of cruising. We have enjoyed 48 cruises since 1995. As well as sharing some factual and helpful information the idea behind this channel is to share our joy of cruising. My long suffering wife Lindsey is a very important part of our team. Since our retirement we had planned several bucket list cruises and so far we have only completed one of them. We have now started international cruising again and hope you will join us on our travels.

    I had to pause the vlog now to write it's a good thing I'm watching while having lunch, otherwise I'd be drooling on my sweater.
    That 🍕 pizza did look scrumptious!

    Ah, this is a cruise line I have absolutely zero experience in, so this was an interesting watch. It looks great quality - better than the likes of Cunard, would you say?

      Hi Fraser I can't comment on the Grills in Cunard because we have never done them, but the overall experience is much nicer we loved it but it's just too expensive for us to do all the time but it won't stop us sailing with them now and again. The food is special and all included the atmosphere is relaxed but very polite and all the other passengers seem great and very easy to talk to.

    It’s an American cruise line, so good is not going too be typically British cuisine. It’s a little adventurous! I like having buffet items served to me without everyone touching the serving utensils! I found the grill and the pasta station great too! And Waves is a great place to eat, Never tried it at breakfast, and didn’t realize they had pizza at night! Love their gelato and smoothies. Love Baristas-yummy cookies. Afternoon tea I think is good. I’d rather pick things than have a tray of things I don’t like I will waste. Americans don’t eat clotted cream! Love breakfast from Room Service. Miso bass is one of their specialties. Will have to try the Thai salad. Love Toscana, the bread, olive oil and balsamic bars. They have the best lasagna and bolognese. You should have sent your filet back-and the dessert sampler of 5 is so good! Love Jacques, the goat cheese soufflé, French onion soup-have to tell how you want your prime rib cooked. Lobster Thermidor is good there. The cream and flaky pastry dessert is the best-like a Napoleon. I didn’t have time to eat mine one night because I wanted to go to the show, and they had it delivered to my room! Glad you had good steaks at Polo Grill love the mushrooms too! La Reserve and Prive are really for large private groups. All the wine and champagne are what make it so expensive, I think.

    We just got back from a trip on the Riviera, food was good, but having a nut allergy found most of their desserts have nuts. Had to watch people eat delicious treats and me with only ice cream!

      It's a shame about your allergy. I have an issue with some types of fish. I hope you enjoyed the video and more importantly your cruise.

    Just got off a Far East cruise on Riviera a few days ago and I have a few disagreements with this review. At least for my American palate, the soups at both the Terrace Cafe and the restaurants were excellent. Toscana was better than these bloggers would have you believe. The lemon veal was superb and the “strange” soups they noted were, on the contrary, tasty. The steak and the lobster pad Thai at Red Ginger were excellent. I agree the meat at Polo Grill was fantastic. I had the Prime Rib and it was great. My wife and I agreed that Oceania’s food falls down in the Grand Dining Room, where night after night we struggled to find something that wasn’t overly adventurous. But all in all, the Oceania food gets a B++.

      Thanks Gary we certainly enjoyed most of our food experience on Riviera. We can only make our judgement on this one cruise and the choices we made. We were also told on this cruise by people who had sailed with Oceania lots of times that the Food in some places wasn't quite at the usual standard. The suggestion was that a lot of the staff had been moved to Vista and there were quite a lot of new staff on board. We are now looking forward to our next Oceania cruise on Vista. Thanks for watching

    Thanks for the informative review of the dining options onboard. A few follow-up questions: 1) Did you ever find out why the MDR breakfast hours were so early? 2) How did you find the efficiency of the service e.g. if you were wanting a quick bite 3) That's a shame about the Assam - Did they have any strong black teas, and what was the tea like generally? 4) Btw, can you bring something like that onboard e.g. your own tea?

    • @KenGoesCruising
      @KenGoesCruising  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Lesley I think the MDR breakfast hours were early because all of our days on board were port days except 1. We found the MDR was not a fast service but more of an occasion so much so that on the first night dinner was 2.5 hours which was fine as we were enjoying the company of our fellow guests, however it did mean we missed the show in the theatre. We do enjoy our shows and really wish Oceania would do 2 shows a night so you could have more choice on dining times. The English breakfast tea on board was really good. For afternoon tea I had a black tea that was also fine and very fresh. I don't know if you are allowed to bring tea with you. Thanks for your good wishes for Celebrity really looking forward to it.

    I love your videos and this cruise line has my attention
    How dressed up do you need to be for the dining room and the specialty restaurants. My husband will not want to wear a jacket thanks

    • @KenGoesCruising
      @KenGoesCruising  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is no need to wear a jacket at dinner just long pants and a shirt that could be short sleeves if you prefer. Country club casual is the code very relaxed.
