  • "I'm excited to share that Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) has approved $5M in SB125 funds for the Hargrave Grade Separation project; This brings our total funding to $9.3M and enough to get the project shovel ready and possibly through the right-of-way acquisition phase,” stated Art Vela, Director of Public Works. “As of right now, we are working with US DOT, Federal Railroad Administration on a grant agreement for the $2.8M received from the Railroad Crossing Elimination program, and hope to have the green light to begin within 4-6 months.”
“The Hargrave Grade Separation Project is a critical piece of the city’s infrastructure needs, and the completion of this project will not only improve traffic congestion, but emergency response times in Banning and throughout the San Gorgonio Pass Area,” stated Doug Schulze - Banning City Manager.

I am loving President Biden and that our Banning representatives are making such great use of the opportunities afforded through funding like this. I am also so optimistic and excited about Banning's future. It reminds me of old Santa Ana merging and growing with Tustin, then Irvine on down to South County as families continue building and going to where there is space and good weather. Now those kids, grown, retiring, are cashing out and moving out here, but staying close enough to family, friends and connections to our beautiful coastline. The advantages out here are great, the weather in the Pass experiences all the Seasons, is 20 degrees cooler than down the hill, and still only an hour and a half drive to the coast or a ski resort! Kudos to the Reps of Banning, CA! Nice work. I wish we could take the 10 Freeway and put it through a far underground tunnel instead of smack through town, but overpasses with sidewalks and a view will be great! Just don't wreck any views and keep the noise down and far surpass Irvine in good planning but keep the stagecoach vibe! Thanks!
