This just seams like alot for a 200$ car port. Definitely will work and there's great ingenuity involved. Fyi I own 3 10-17 tents myself, and I've also modified them to great success. Actually had one pull up it's anchors and roll across the yard with no damage. Lol

I liked your reinforcement ideas. More cost effective for a renter than lumber. Not to mention less labor intensive etc. I Just may use you idea as it works the best for me from all others I have seen. However the only thing I think I will add is plumbing pipe insulation tubing over the turn buckles extending out over the cable ends just to keep the side from potentially tearing on windy day. Thanks for sharing your video, very helpful.

Could use some pool noodles to cover the cable wire to prevent tearing

I've put mine together- with some of your modifications in mind. I've found that HD ratchet straps (being a 'commodity' item) vs. all the necessary components in a cable/turnbuckle/etc. setup were a more reasonable option. Most are rated 1-2K# breaking strength, so should be adequate in less than the most catastrophic conditions. We'll see.
I'd like to see a followup of how this worked for you.

Why not use metal electrical conduits instead of PVC? They are about the same price and much stronger.

I would like to mention to people considering this garage is you can buy replacement ends and top tarps from Harbor Freight, add /parts to the URL to get there. The tarp top last about 2 years, then water will start coming thru.

Great ideas. The X is the strongest reinforcement a guy could use.
In the future be mindful of the camera. Moving it too fast is a major distraction. Makes some folks sea sick.

I really wanted to see your video, your camera moving so fast was making me a little sick. I may be just getting "OLD" If you do a update maybe you could not swing the camera around so fast. I subscribed to not miss it.

With all the money spent on reinforcement I would spray it with rhino liner

Won't the tarp blow and rub against all of that wire cabling and whatnot, causing it to tear and wear down faster? In my mind, something like ratchet straps would be better as they aren't as rough. Covering any nuts, bolts, or other hardware with plumbing pipe insulation could also help prevent early wear and tear. Just some thoughts. :)

Really need to slow the camera movement. The quick pans and unnecessary movement does make me sick, but I like the reinforcement ideas.

I put my wife's 124 abarth spider in ours, and with south Louisiana's 100% humidity, the interior started to mildew! Just saying

@@stemyourfuture6875 I hope the car was okay!! Goodluck and thanks for taking the time to reply! You may have saved another few cars! We don't have much snow here but lots of rain! So similar reinforcement concerns!

Mine did too. I replaced with just the top cover style. I remover cover in winter. Tree branch came down and bent the pipes. I bought another kit. I used the old cover and now have extra new cover.
I still remover cover in winter.
I use this shelter to keep the pine sap off my truck in the spring summer fall @@stemyourfuture6875

You get Hurricane type wind and that shed is torn apart. The slightest tear or wear area becomes larger and that’s all it takes. I had this very structure, and the wind blew right thru the front. With no way for wind to escape, poof it was destroyed. Now, I’ve allowed side openings, still secured to not allow rain or other forms cold weather in, and thus far it has held up to the latest hurricanes to hit Louisiana in 2021.

100.00 in extra parts vs 50.00 2 year extended warranty. You do the math.
