I've never seen a crocodile dig itself into wet mud before -and- further camouflage itself using the existing green vegetation. ... A truly terrifying ambush predator it is!

Crocodiles are masters when it comes to stealth attacks.
Fun fact- crocodiles are actually intelligent enough to use tools in the same way as this. Both these mugger crocodiles and American alligators can collect lures with which to 'fish' for birds. They recognise when birds are looking for twigs to make their nests, then seek out twigs that they think the birds will like, balance them on their heads, and hide under the nesting trees to attack any bird that mistakes the trap for easy building materials!
This footage originates from Sri Lanka, my homeland. In certain instances, these predators may pose a threat to individuals walking through the paddy fields, particularly in desolate areas where they are unable to find prey. There have been a few recent incidents of such encounters. Currently, crocodiles have extended their presence to rivers and are occasionally spotted on beaches as well. If you plan to visit my beautiful country and decide to take a dip in the rivers, exercise caution. It is advisable to seek information from local villages before immersing yourself in the river.
2:04-2:25 The cinematography in this segment is on another level. The sinister build-up with the high strings over the gradual realisations of the deer is hair-raising, and I also love how the initial shot of the croc finally lashing out is from a bird's eye view and the caught individual's predicament is then revealed up close.

This is Sri Lanka, my homeland. BBC Earth has created an outstanding video showcasing crocodile hunting behavior in the heart of a forest, featuring excellent camera angles. As someone who is working on a crocodile documentary for past two years, I could sense the team effort and planing that might have gone into this.
Being slightly slowed with the drone shot it looks like the deer stopped struggling at once...then you realise that's just the sheer power of over 4 metres of *beast* hauling out towards the deep end and you'd look like a limp shred of flesh, too. Gosh I'm glad I'm not a Sri Lankan deer.
Unfortunately they some times attack humans too. There have been a few recent incidents of such encounters in my country Sri Lanka.

Crocodiles are savage and ruthless in how they hunt, and are also lightening quick in the way they take down their prey. One of the finest predators around.
I like how the rest of the herd set him up. They ran away like 'sike, not me!' He was a sacrifice for them.

Wow that male at the beginning (0:45) definitely isn't a 5m Mugger, the later one hunting the deer could be. The digging behaviour however is awesome to showcase.
It shows crocodiles have adapted to it's surroundings like a pro & it give me chills what this crocodile used to doin an era of dinosaurs & what kind of predators dinosaurs used to be if they were the king pin of size and speed.

Amazing footage! Crocodiles are fascinating, and some are quite dangerous, like the Nile crocodile with a man-eater fame. But still, our camera team followed these crocodiles underwater, going through their tunnels and managed to get unique shots of their underwater world and some pretty cool close-ups!

People who didn't watch this episode should know that this badass dude walked into these waters like a notorious gangster. His walk said alot about his background. How many crocodiles have you seen hunting. 100? 1000? 10000? He's that one exceptional in 10000. Digging in and Using vegitation as a perfect camouflage tells how smart he really is. You learn this when you face hundreds of failures and then you start using your brain differently than the norms.
What do you do Mr. Crocodile?

Did you know during the drought season when the water dries up? Some crocs dig themselves into the sides of the riverbanks? Once in? they slow there heart rates down to 3 beats per minute? And wait for months until the rain returns ???

It isn' t really anything new with alligators or crocodiles. They are actually using their own brumation technique which is their own version of a hibernation technique when there really is a dry season with no water and just wait until it rains. This is just their own adaptation.

The way how he hauls ass with the deer in his mouth towards deeper water at 2:35 is genuinely nightmarish.
I'm absolutely fascinated with crocodiles & alligators. I'm from Southeast Texas near Galveston and we had plenty of gators in our bayou, but those were tiny compared to a saltie! A true Apex predator who is smart as a whip! The speed for which he grabbed that deer, then shot off with it in his mouth had to be watched several times. Nobody would've guessed that a giant man eating lizard would be hiding in a tiny water hole using vegetation camo, then await his prey and ambush with the speed of lightening! Just wow!!!
It is a freshwater crocodile and not a saltie. Saltwater ones can even be larger.

Holy cow that’s actually terrifying, the fact that it’s actually learned to camouflage itself. Combine that with those highly sensitive pressure sensors in its snout, this species of crocodile likely rarely misses.
