My first week living in Sweden! Join me as I move from Montreal to the quaint city of Lund, explore the town, start classes and go out with new friends. On the weekend, my friends and I went on a quick trip to Copenhagen where we visited museums, ate delicious food, went to a rave, and reconnected with my cousin! It was truly a monumental week for me as I began my exchange journey and I am thrilled to be sharing my experience with you :)

The star shaped lamps is tradition all over Scandinavia and probably western Europe, if not all. Here in Norway, most people aren’t religious and so this is just a common Xmas decoration.

Welcome to Sweden! Lund is my old uni town and it’s amazing. Trust me; just wait until spring and summer arrives. It’s SO much nicer!! Key is also to join the right nation (Malmö Nation is the best!). Have fun 🙌🏻

You really moved here at a great time. The winters can be pretty boring and depressing but the spring and summer is the opposite, they are amazing. People come out of their shells, are full of life and happiness. Great weather and very long days so everyone is outside doing things.

*New* friends is challenging in Scandinavian culture.
Try to find shared activities where you have a pretext to talk.
While other exchange students will be easy to connect with locals may take more effort then you are used to on average in order to get a friendship.
But it's absolutely doable.

Welcome to my home city! Glad you like it, then of course most do.
One little correction: In winter the sun sets as _late_ as 3:35 in Lund. After all, it IS in the far south of Sweden! In Stockholm, it sets at 2:47 pm at the winter solstice.

@@vikki-333 Well, those times are for the winter solstice. For the summer solstice, the sun sets at 21:56 (daylight saving time) in Lund and at 22:09 in Stockholm, being further east. Ofc, in Lund it does get completely dark in the middle of the night in summer, in Stockholm it does not.
i think she meant as early as because she isn’t used to having the sun set so early (compared to other counties, 3:35 is very early)

Lund is my home town and it’s always so weird so see all of the places I see daily from other’s perspective😭❤️
@@sarahbradshaw3699 I dont live there , but they dont pop up on the news like Malmö or the other bigger cities (crime) , so I would say yes.
Could argue most people are friendly even in the worse off cities , beware pick-pocketing though , that usually skyrise during summer times due to the invasion of German tourists in Sweden.

Congratulations on being able to both study and live in Lund! I´ve heard from a relative, who´s got a friend who introduces foreign students to their studies in Lund, that the foreign students are very excited before they know about the most common solution: They study in Lund but have to live in Eslöv, 10 - 14 minutes by commuting train from Lund. Eslöv has also been said to be the most boring town in the area...
I have been dreaming about this. Literally and figuratively. I’ve never been abroad so my heart just keeps telling me “Scandinavia” but whenever I research, I very instinctively look into Sweden. I want to take the leap so bad! Thanks for the video :)
hii, im an english language and literature student in Turkiye, Ankara. i also have never been abroad and these days İ continuously have been thinking about just exchange programs and what should I do about them lol. This brings back some memories. Lund Uni is my university and I was studying there until January when I moved to Gothenburg to do an internship for my master thesis. Will come back in June when it is (hopefully) summer. I recommend you two eating places Lundafalafel and Africa market.

I have been to Lund once as a Dutch guy. I really liked it there because a lot of it was similar to my country. The vibe there was really good and everyone was very kind. Unfortunately I won't be able to go there again

Wohoo I am originaly from Lund. Skåne is amazing you must visit the beaches. Österlen and soon the lime green forest at the north of Skåne. Kopparhatten at Söderåsen is another great place to visit.

My daughter was accepted as a post graduate, master student in Public Health , Copenhagen University. However the scholarship didn't include living. After that my daughtet receivef scholarahio from Finland - scholl fers and lihing costs. Now she grafuated already.

i can see a swedish person going to a english speaking country, but not the other way around.....do they change the classes or how will someone who does not speak swedish understand a class spoken in swedish?
