I don't think this act fooled them. I recall Peller doing some incredible productions of fish and coins that were absolutely mesmerizing, so I'm sure they got it pretty much figured out.
It was a brilliant performance but the show isn't called, "I tried really hard Us". No participation trophies. She was amazing and this performance gave her a huge platform to be seen and be able to garner more jobs from this episode.
As a former professional ballet dancer and career performing artist in music and dance, I can attest to the extreme difficulty of the technique of ballet. It is hard for one to pull off even when they may have spent their whole youth dedicated to it. She dances ballet competently, but with several technical issues. This is normal, even for many dancers that have spent over 15 years working at it. So, for her to combine ballet with magic, which also requires years of practice, is an exceptionally bold move! I wish her the best! Thank you Jason Parker, for all the great analysis on the world of magic that you do! Keep up the great work my friend!
They need a trophy for pure skill, not just whether or not she fooled anyone. There's only a few limited ways she could have produced the items, but the fact that it's nearly impossible to see her make mistakes is enough for a trophy in my opinion. BTW, I love the choice of music you made for your replacement too.
@Peter Pike Well, I believe they should but providing this trophy to respect some magician's skill would be really awkward if they can't provide it to other magicians, neither the fool us trophy nor the skills trophy. Or maybe they would give it to all the magicians who didn't fool them in matters of respect but you know that wouldn't be so fair to the foolers.
I believe they rewarded her with their invitation to Vegas - its FOOL US but she didn't FOOL THEM _however remarkable and talented._ she obviously has amazing skills
To be fair, Penn and Teller have invited ppl that didn't fool them to Vegas before, so I hope she is the case. Piff the Magic Dragon is an example, who even did magic with them.
I think you really did justice with the replaced music during her performance. I didn’t know it was replaced and I was just thinking during the performance how her act fits so well with the music. Nice one!
For some reason that made me cry. There was something so joyous about her performance. Interesting she has a similar background to Jackie Chan. That Chinese Opera training really sets people apart doesn't it! I've rarely seen any ballerina with such stable poise so easy. The fact she can do the stream of magic tricks at the same time is amazing.
best non fooler ever. I'm not even really fooled, but this is the single most beautiful performance in fool us history. I'm actually kind of a macho man (at least in how I look) but I seriously have tears in my eyes every time I watch this.
Absolutely stunning routine ! Really nice combination of ballet and magic, resulting in a truly artistic performance. These are all staple moves of stage magic, presented in a refreshing new way. The beauty and uniqueness of this act alone deserves a place in Vegas. Although the "moves" may not fool everyone, the routine sure as hell impressed most. Well done Yan Yan and thanks for reviewing this one Jason !
It was truly amazing. I kind of wish it was done in a single take, I feel like magicians performing live (even virtually) are disadvantaged in comparison.
I saw this the other day and was looking forward to Jason's reaction on this, mostly for the fact when I first saw it I couldn't help notice the large red and yellow flowers she threw on the side of the steps kept changing position throughout the act. Sometimes they're on the ledge, sometimes they're not. So it's clearly not been filmed in one take. But it seems like Jason and many others may have missed this error in the filming (there are a handful of commenters here that do mention it though). It's an amazing and beautiful act, Yan Yan Ma performed it so well, but these edits in the performance throw serious doubt over weather this could be done live in one take, e.g. did she reload her costume with some of the gimmicks and cards between the cuts in filming? And why, when you have all the time you need to film this to send to the Fool Us producers, wouldn't you make sure it was as clean as possible as the red and yellow flowers are so obviously moving several times throughout the performance...? It's so puzzling... It may have been so they could get more angles with limited cameras available, but when you have so much time to make a 5 minute video you would think they would spot these little mistakes and correct them with some re-shoots, just to make it less obvious it wasn't all one take. I loved the act, everything was so beautiful and mesmerising, but this little editing mistake took some of the magic away from the performance for me. Yet it has to be said she does indeed have amazing skills :-)
Penn and Teller had an off day. Mind blowing skills...lightning speed even on a known trick that one must think that it could only be done with video edits..is a feat that fools the senses....magical...if it is like magic..it definitely fooled the mind.
Hey Jason. It's so nice to see such a positive channel as yours. You're always smiling and being positive whilst being honest. I really appreciate seeing this on the interwebs.
Flowed beautifully and at such a speed that you can't pick up on any of the moves - apart from one. If you watch closely at the beginning of the routine, you can see her right hand move to the opening at the front of her tutu where she pulls the first big red 'flower' from.
Holy cow. All of it incredibly impressive. Yes we've seen a lot of the tricks before, but many had to be done differently and yes 1 or two tricks if you watch super carefully you see how things were hidden/slight of hand. That said this is an incredible act, and I love that she did it her own way completely. Unique outfit, unique style, did it in a way that takes pride in that she's a female magician without coming off weird. In my opinion she is absolutely among the best performers that have been on Fool Us.
Shimada and his daughter, and grandson now live in Las Vegas! They are the true parasol act with production of hundreds of parasols on stage, many Japaneese face changing masks, and card manipulation!!! The Shimada's are on youtube. I saw Shimada in the 1970's on stage perform his first show in the US and as a little kid was blown away by his talent! His bold dancing moves are sharp compared to the ballerina's delicate dance! Both are amazing, and thank you for this amazing channel!!!
For those people saying that the artistic editing of the performance (and evident multiple takes) is evidence of “cheating” I don’t see it that way at all. Much more likely that she performed the whole routine several times, being filmed from different angles, and the producers cut them together to make it more engaging and dramatic for viewers at home. Bear in mind that Yan Yan Ma has won major awards for her performance, and that competitors on the show have to reveal everything they are doing to the show’s magic supervisors - they wouldn’t stand for someone whose routine was only possible because of camera and editing trickery.
For me Shin Lim and Yan Yan Ma are of the same level of expertise when it comes to "producing something from out of nothing"! She should have gotten a trophy from P&T. Thank you.
First of all, this was a fantastic act. There are certain points where you can tell where she is loading/stealing, but the fact it was almost all in the top of her tutu makes that part even more spectacular. One thing I learned from her performance though is that apparently they don't have rules that these socially distant performances must be done in 1 take because you can tell by the yellow and red flowers she put on the ground that she did hers in at least 2 takes.
Of course they know how the tricks are done. They are professional magician with decades of experience. You need something new, something unusual, something that other magician has never done before to fool penn and teller. I agreed The amount of skills, practices and effort she put on it is just insane.
This was designed more to impress than fool. Not a bad thing at all. It certainly combined both great manipulation, but also Tailoring to the highest level.
There's a big difference between being surprised and being fooled. Sadly these type of acts, beautiful and amazing though they are, will never fool P&T. Surprise and astound them, yes, but never fool!
Beautiful and very unique performance. The ballet also adds a level of distraction making the magic even more magical. I'm thinking the new FU format is a COVID silver lining as the performances are more consistently amazing.
I watch every video yu post I always can't wait for u to post them..when fool us has new episodes...I can't wait for u to do reactions..love how ur improving on editing to
Hen ku he feichang piao liang....li hai!. Very cool and extremely beautiful....Awesome! In basic Mandarin. Wo ai le ta.🧚♀️❤ I loved it ...in basic Mandarin
Nice creative combo, while doing both ballet and magic simultaneously must be pretty difficult, I bet there's some synergy too; some of those ballet poses seem to provide for excellent excuses for loading. Not surprising that she didn't fool them, but getting to showcase her act on TV was at least well-deserved.
You should do a story series, your voice is soothing, could help someone fall asleep who needs it!! Great video BTW, I share to everyone I know, you're awesome!!!!
3:04 magic, yellow flower falls and red one hops back on the wall. I have no idea how she did it. Seems different camera angles are from different takes. Great magic and performance.
She didn't fool me, but who cares? She should have won this one. This was by far the most interesting magic trick I have ever seen done with compressible items. I mean seriously... holy freaking crap. I smiled like an idiot the whole way through this performance.
This one time.... at band camp. There was a ballerina who did magic! Jk. I literally had tears in my eyes watching her perform 2 arts and doing them both with such magnificence. I really enjoy watching magic, and enjoy being constantly fooled. While I've never watched ballet, it was AWESOME to see her accomplish both acts. Hopefully it inspires many ladies to... ummm... multitask! lol. I see Penn&Teller as being the type of guys that would invite her to perform in their live show for 2 reasons: 1. It was a very unique performance and 2. to appeal to women and get them interested in magic. Oh, and the third reason- they're some bad ass guys!
I saw a few things flash while she was manipulating them... white outfit, dark background is very punishing when handling brightly colored objects. That being said, I can't even imagine how hard must be sleight of hand while standing en pointe. Big props!
Although she didn't fool them, this was one of the most interesting magic acts I can remember, and I would have liked to see her invited to Vegas anyway.
I watched maybe 1000 videos on TH-cam about magic and this one is easily in my Top 2, i get that's she's pulling things from skirt, you can see her hands but she's so smooth.
I think she did a great job. I was actually a bit upset that she didn't fool them, but I get it, they've seen a lot and I'm not surprised. I guess I was just hoping she'd get to go to Vegas and wow the crowd even though it doesn't affect me in the least. Great act. I hope to see more from her.

Have you seen the show on Netflix called Fate: The Winx Saga? It's about magic.
Saw this act live back in 2009 where she won 2nd place in FISM Beijing. Absolutely love it!
I don't think this act fooled them. I recall Peller doing some incredible productions of fish and coins that were absolutely mesmerizing, so I'm sure they got it pretty much figured out.

True! But the show still called fool us:)

Incredible! I feel like P&T should also have an “astounding” trophy that doesn’t require fooling but represents what we love about that act.
It would then turn into a regular magic show.
That is a great idea I will mention it to the producers of the show
I think you really did justice with the replaced music during her performance. I didn’t know it was replaced and I was just thinking during the performance how her act fits so well with the music. Nice one!
Thanks Marko... only took about 2 hours 😂
May I ask what song it is during her performance?
of course it wasn't going to fool them.. but it did make them smile, and they enjoyed it... and she is unique. Amazing.
She deserved the trophy!!
For some reason that made me cry. There was something so joyous about her performance.

I notice the cut scenes with her flowers....not to diminish her beautiful performance!
Yeah, that was just amazing. It was beautiful, spectacular, and so free flowing.
She's insanely good.
Performing on US national TV probably made her mom and grandma very proud, even though she didn't get the trophy.
BRING HER BACK! SHE WAS AMAZING! WELL DESERVING OF AN INVITATION TO FOOL THEM AGAIN.
Jason Parker's videos are highly entertaining almost as good as good magic
Luv em.
Even though magicians would know how it's done, she still should be invited to perform in Vegas. She has an original act of grace and beauty.
Very beautiful performance, Pen and Teller should have a second trophy called Fool Us Next Time and award it for those worthy of it.
12:20
You editing in that music was magical. I would never have known.
She definitely deserved more than 'we know how you did it'
Watching it again just because it is so beautiful and amazing.
Wow !!! Bravo 👏👏👏... She fooled me. Give her the 🏆
Incredible act, there really needs to be a trophy for sheer talent and discipline alone, this was so good and totally to the next level
I've never liked Ballet, now I like it a Lot!!
The music you replaced: I didn’t even notice because it was very fitting to the ballet magic
That was amazing to watch. So beautiful
01:53 pm me: OK let's go sleep
TH-cam: new video
My brain: let's go
Great video
This is definitely the way forward for YOU Jason.
I expect all your tricks and videos to be performed on your tippy-toes from now on.
And in a tutu.
That was really awesome and I believe she did deserve to get a trophy
She deserve to win, greatttttttttttttttt act!
Maybe the most beautiful and skilled act I ever seen
Wow, she is inspirational not only for the girls, so amazing! I wish I was capable of doing at least one of the things she does.
It was truly amazing. I kind of wish it was done in a single take, I feel like magicians performing live (even virtually) are disadvantaged in comparison.

Wait you didn't the strings to move the flowers? It's clearly part of the magic.... /s
This was a beautiful performance.
Besides the cool productions, it's like cardistry is the ballet of magic
Her performance was FIRST RATE, and she deserved the trophy
Then you lose the objective meaning of the trophy.
Flowed beautifully and at such a speed that you can't pick up on any of the moves - apart from one. If you watch closely at the beginning of the routine, you can see her right hand move to the opening at the front of her tutu where she pulls the first big red 'flower' from.
“Allowing them to live rent free in your head” that’s amazing. I’m going to use that one.
Holy cow. All of it incredibly impressive. A most beautiful magical performance.
It's hard to fool Teller with his knowledge.
On the other hand...
They should have a secondary "trophy" for kickin' ass -
performance wise.
Awesome!
I think she should get the best videography or cinematography award
Shimada and his daughter, and grandson now live in Las Vegas! Stunning! In my opinion one of the best I have ever seen. She is amazing!
anyone notice how her flowers kept moving up and down from the ledge lol for sure not one continues cut LAWL
I got to your channel because I watch Chris Ramsay do puzzles... best suggested series I've had so far.
That was beautiful!
Great performance, funny red flower.. never seen it move zo quick..😁
Love your reaction videos
Maybe she is not a Fooler, but definitely deserves a show in the strip.
That background is very cool also she is awesome and in many ways.
Okay but can we talk about the cinematography of this routine though? Absolutely incredible
Yeah, but the continuity was a little... lacking ;-)
For those people saying that the artistic editing of the performance (and evident multiple takes) is evidence of “cheating” I don’t see it that way at all. That was absolutely fucking stunning!
The red flower on the ground changes as the camera angle changes lol
good catch. clearly edited together.
It worth to watch several times
This was an incredible performance.🤯👍😊👍👏👏👏👏

She may have done additional takes at the request of the producers. They may have then edited together what they needed for whatever reasons.

Wow I got penn and tellers master class ad at the beginning of this
Beautiful and very unique performance. The ballet also adds a level of distraction making the magic even more magical. I'm thinking the new FU format is a COVID silver lining as the performances are more consistently amazing.
That was truly beautiful
Your background music replacement was awesome.
I watched an Aesop Fable for the first time. Had to because you said most do not watch the entire video. I got you, man

Maybe not designed to fool, but this definitely will do very well in like a Got Talent stage.
Love the music
I'd say that her performance was...
on point!
3:04 magic, yellow flower falls and red one hops back on the wall. I have no idea how she did it.
Seems different camera angles are from different takes. Great magic and performance.
Amazing reaction and I especially like the moral lesson.
This is a wonderful and beautiful performance! Jason what was the music you used in the video? It goes together so well!
She didn't fool me, but who cares? She should have won this one. This was by far the most interesting magic trick I have ever seen done with compressible items. I mean seriously... holy freaking crap. I smiled like an idiot the whole way through this performance.
Great performance with grace! Perhaps P&T should also give out a "Performance Award."
This one time.... at band camp. There was a ballerina who did magic! Jk. I literally had tears in my eyes watching her perform 2 arts and doing them both with such magnificence. most beautiful background... and amazing performance. Adrianna and I just enjoy the act and do not want to dissect it...
Although she didn't fool them, this was one of the most interesting magic acts I can remember, and I would have liked to see her invited to Vegas anyway.
I watched maybe 1000 videos on TH-cam about magic and this one is easily in my Top 2, i get that's she's pulling things from skirt, you can see her hands but she's so smooth.
wow...that blew my mind!!
traditional Chinese magic hasn't fooled them before. amazing. still traditional. great talent.
Yes, they know how she did it, but they would be FOOLS (see what I did there?) not to book her in Vegas.
Imagine her performing with Shin Lim. It will blow the house down.
Well done JP almost enjoy watching your reaction videos as much as the originals - OK OK I kinda do
"... remember, every time there will come an Asian who takes it on the next level!" - Ryan Hayashi 😂🤣
Cool comments. Beautiful act. I wish she had won something yes.
I loved it
She performed brilliantly...Awesome. the thing is....FOOL : US...
"wow.. what a nice background". she does have a nice background!
Great performance... When will we see Jason on FU?
I think she did a great job. I was actually a bit upset that she didn't fool them, but I get it, they've seen a lot and I'm not surprised. I guess I was just hoping she'd get to go to Vegas and wow the crowd even though it doesn't affect me in the least. Great act. I hope to see more from her.
You should do a magic trick with your fable book
What was the music playing during the performance?
I don't think I remember Jason smiling like that in any other show. It was incredible.
