I met David the summer of 1966, Before the TV show started. I was 11 then, my mother worked at a job with a management company. They managed David, for a short time, David liked my mother and left the management company. My mother was his personal manager until the show ended. He was a great guy. He wasn't much older than me. I spent some time at his Hollywood house , he even gave me a ride on his Motorcycle down the sunset strip. I got to see him back in the 80's in Orlando. The boys had a concert there. I met with his then manager and met with David once again after the show, I told him mom had passed a few years before. His passing was vary sad David was a great guy for sure.
Great little interview. Ive seen alot of Davy youtube over the last few days. He always seemed so patient with people. He was my first love and THE MONKEES gave me the inclination to pick up an instrument at 8. Been playing ever since. RIP sparkly eyes.
David, you were such a beautiful man both inside and out, and you are still such a beautiful eternal spirit. If I had had the chance to actually meet you and talk to you during that brief moment backstage in 2002, I would have given you a such a hug that they would have had to pry me off of you. And thank you for loving the animals and rescuing so many horses. RIP my love.
Such a wonderful entertainer, and a wonderful person!!! He is so missed, by so many people!!! Generous, kind, and down to earth. Davy Jones was a class act!!!
Thank you for posting this interview. I enjoyed seeing Davy ride one of his beloved horses and talk about the importance of sharing his talent with a few or thousands. I was fortunate enough to meet him and Micky at Magic Mountain California years ago - just myself, a girlfriend and the two of them what a great memory! RIP, Davy.
As I have said many times before..davy was more than a fantastic entertainer, he was a kind gentle man and his endless care and love he had for horses and that he taught his daughters to carry on his tradition. Davy I will love you forever
Lol he thought he could have been David Bowie. Made himself look like an idiot there. Up his own backside. It would be like someone from 9ne direction saying he could of been Bob Dylan.
He was right about Bowie's vocal skills, however. Compared to, say, Micky Dolenz who is a genuine tenor of high quality (still, at 77!) Bowie doesn't rate. Jones was making the point that it was not so much his vocal skills which underpinned Bowie's success but the overall product which, for its time, was innovative.
What a beautiful interview and what a lovely man. Like millions of American teenage girls, Davy was my favorite Monkee. And it's wonderful to see how down to earth and kindhearted he always remained after having such superstardom. Miss you, Davy.
I doubt that very much.. 😳 There is and always will be the one David Bowie. Davey Jones, is sadly, having himself on here. He came nowhere near Bowie status. Rip Davey Jones
Gosh, why is the entire comment section whining so much? He’s sharing HIS opinion on Bowie. If you don’t agree with him, that’s ok, but that doesn’t mean you should go against his opinion. If you like Bowie, then good for you. I don’t like Bowie very much. If you don’t have something nice to say, then JUST DONT SAY IT!! It’s that easy
@@nikeu7110 How many platinum records did Davy Jones have?? It's okay nik Eu to carry your teen crush from the early 70's. When I was 5 I had a crush on Marcia Bradley. 😛😘
The sheer delusion of this guy. It's a good job he's no longer around or he'd be laughed out of America for these comments. He was never in the same league as Bowie. Bowie revolutionized pop music again and again and possessed a myriad of extraordinary voices which he would deploy depending on the material he was singing. This pleb sang other people's songs on a corny kids' TV show. Muppet.
David Bowie was an insanely talented song writer. Monkees hits were written by Tommy Boyce, Bobby Heart and Neil Diamond (who was a insanely talented song writer himself). Suggesting that Bowie was successful solely because of his theatrical presentation is pure rubbish.
Sorry dude. You are great and I like the monkees. But David Bowie is a pop, dance, new wave, soul, rock, electric, avant-garde, and Jazz music songwriting genius. And an amazing singer with a distinctive voice who brought loads of great artists together (John Lennon, Carlos Alomar, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Nile Rodgers, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Peter Frampton). Also a fantastic actor and artist. No real comparison. David Bowie is out of this world.

Rest in peace you special talented man. You are special in every, aspect of the word.

what a kind hearted man so sad he left us so soon. =( God Bless you Davy
Davy was that kind of guy all girls would want as their boyfriend or neighbor. He seemed so friendly and humorous
Thanks so much for sharing this. Unlike so many entertainers, he seemed like the real deal.
David Jones( Bowie) is Rock God

Thank you for sharing this. I really enjoyed it. He was a true gentleman. What a loss that he is gone.
Sad now that both David Joneses are gone. Davy Jones and David Bowie.
Good to know others believe what I've always believed regarding Bowie. And Davy also had beautiful hands on a beautiful man.💋💋💋💖
Davy a beautiful person inside and out. Such a sad tragic loss😢
I enjoyed the interview and I miss Davy, Peter and Mike! Take care Micky!

I always loved Davy Jones and the Monkees
Ill Love Davy Jones forever and I miss him so very badly so RIP Davy !
No way in hell could he have been even in the same ballpark as Bowie in his dreams
Wow...good interview!
I "love" this interview!!!
I just feel asleep 3 times

David Bowie can't sing well? WTH?
sorry but David was right David Bowie isn't a great singer. but he does do theather good and acting better than singing
+GingerGilligan Good songwriter and performer, decent singer, but if he couldn't write songs you'd have never heard of him.
He never could. Doesn't matter though.... especially today - for many reasons.

Did not know that about David Bowie. Thank you Davy R.I.P
Miss you Davy, I blame Linda and always will!
RIP sweet little man ❤️❤️❤️ ️xxx
Au contrare. David Bowie was a great singer. He could carry a tune. He had career longevity to prove it.

Mangasky7, thank you. I couldn't have said it any better. And believe you me, I didn't shed a tear then this Jones died. But I did when David did.

To me he just sounds jealous of Bowie
Thats a Big ego....... thats not a British/English trait.
America changed him and not for the best sadly.
Still i do like the fella...... R.I.P
This little man can’t compare to David Jones(Bowie). Bowie is Rock God. This man is nothing

Bowie didnt sing very well ? Dude had a wider range than Freddie Mercury in his prime lmao.
This man here is absolutely nothing compared to Bowie.
Bowie couldn’t sing well? Seriously? lol
Regarding singing Daydream Believer better than anybody else, maybe at one time, but Davy lost that light, ethereal quality to his voice years ago.

What a megalomaniac! Too much cringe!!!
Too funny. Spinal Tap levels of delusion, pomp and BS.
