This is shadow and bone, it's a tv series on Netflix and it's based off the books by leigh bardugo. The books which the show is based off are called the shadow and bone trilogy and the six of crows dulogy. The show is very good and I definitely recommend you watch it! The books are incredible aswell. I suggest googling the show and books and watching the trailer for the show.
She was sooo badass! Far more badass than the books. No offense, I so love the books too! But that was just Alina's character in the first book-dancing to the whims of the powerful people in the little Palace and feeling inferior. But she grows on to feel confident and be one with her powers. It's just chrtr development, I guess. In the tv series, Alina was more self-independent, decisive and more warriorsome. We would get even more of a badass Alina in Season 2(also the way it was in book 2)!!
