I know, right? I've been watching these for a couple of years at least, but it only just hit me how amazing John's photography skills are. Of course, it helps to have such gorgeous locations. But as I said in another comment, no photography can do these places justice, but John's shots certainly come close.

Amazing! I love that he does the historical way of making washi, it's just like what I studied in school. We studied the research of Dard Hunter, he was one of the first westerners to document Japanese papermaking extensively. I read many papermaking families are disappearing because their children do not want to continue the tradition and lack of market. Next trip I definitely what to come here. Last trip the papermaking facility I found, awagami, was a mix of western and eastern, which was also awesome but more modern. Thanks so much for sharing this! I am going to share this video with my former instructors at Columbia College Book and Paper, maybe they can use it to help other students :).

Just when I think your videos are already amazing, you make something incredible like this. You always find a way to make such compelling and inspiring stories through the most simple of things like nature, food, culture, history, etc. and I greatly enjoy that. We need content like this to keep us humble and connected to our surroundings.
The drone and river shots are incredible! I also loved learning about washi paper making. It's incredible what goes into the process and I love the respect for nature in this episode.
