Loved that video Steve…just in time. Went to our local reservoir today and started with the subtle stuff like washing lines and diawls and buzzers but as soon as it warmed up the fish wanted to chase lures. Such a contrast but some great sport with flashy flies stripped quickly….figure of eight. I passed my fly on to my friend and he traditionally pulls a steady retrieve…..as he was winding in to move to another spot a fish hit it. Just shows ….if nothings working …make a change.👍🎣
Good to see you out there catching fish, tough casting with the closeness of the trees Was out last week near Glasgow similar conditions fish taking off the top.
Great video Steve, only thing, didn’t fancy your effort to pull the fly from the trees.I’ve done this and have ended up with two broken rods, better pulling it straight inline with the fly,may break the leader but that’s easy replaced
I've been catching on nymphs and wee dries until now, but I think I need to go deeper with some lures now. Sound is poor Steve, better microphone needed?
I have been fly fishing for years and never bothered with tapered leaders. Just stick with length and change flies a lot , never had a problem
Great video Steve. Would you please consider doing a short video showing how you tie up your leaders? Thanks.
Very enjoyable. I appreciate the explanations. Nice and relaxing in this world of turmoil. Thanks.
Fantastic!! Thanks for sharing all your knowledge!

Morning steve , can show us a fly tying video of the 3 lures you used, and good to see that I'm not the only one that catches trees, great video pal
I use a short intermediate leader to save the loops on expensive fly lines.
I find flourocarbon leader loop to loop cuts in to softer fly line loops.

Interesting with your leader set up
Really good video. What knot do you use to tie the Tappered leader to the fly line, Please. 👍

Apps work well for rainbows pulled back fast if you’re on them they will take them even up in the water
Winter is the best time of year to catch rainbows they love cold water ..
It’s no rocket science mate chuck it in and pull it back . But remember if there’s no fish in front of you you’ll catch nothing .
