Tapered Leg Build | Zig Zag Drawers | Modern Furniture

Today is Leg Day
The Oak Zig Zag Drawers need some legs and I wanted to ensure they were angled both out wooden the front and to the side
On top of this I wanted them to be tapered too
Using the Makita LS1019L Mitre Saw the oak timber was trimmed to four pieces of approximate length
The Evolution Rage5-S Table Saw then ripped the pieces to an even square profile.
Broke out the tapering jig to taper one side of the legs. The workpiece was then flipped to cut the other taper.
Four legs now tapered on two sides.
The base and feet of the legs were then trimmed to a 10 degree angle on to sides so the legs would angle out both to the front and the side.
Stretchers were then trimmed and pocket holes added so they could be glued and screwed.
The Makita DPJ180Z Biscuit Jointer was used to cut a slot across each of the joints to add strength.

Once sanded the legs are ready to be fitted to the drawer cabinet.

Good video! Just curious, why didn't you put the pocket screws with the hole side facing up? Is it a joint strength problem? I just figured it would look better the other way up.

Thank you. It was more to do with assembly. Easier to clamp it that way and as it wouldn’t be seen, I rolled with it. You are bang on, ideally they want to be hidden. 👍🐳
