Every guitar in Phil's hands is fantastic but there is something the Zion has that fits him so well. Been a fan since the "Underground" days and got to work Phil for a live show once some 20 years ago. He never fails to move his audience when he plays.
No, it's actually a tune Phil recorded specifically as a tribute to Jeff Beck back in 2010 for the album 'Inter-Dimensional Traveler' by The Phil Keaggy Trio - (PK, Jack Giering and John Sferra) - He's played this tune a lot. It was a song written by Jack Giering for the late Valerie Sferra, John's wife who passed away back in April of 2006 and he recorded it on his Lone Wolf solo album with Phil in 2008 and then re-recorded it and dedicated to her on the PK Trio album.
Phil’s into his Zion guitar lately. I’d like to have one, but they are pretty expensive. I bought a Parker Fly after hearing him playing one years ago. I know he sold it due to tuning problems. I wonder if he bought another.
