The first time we ate goat meat. We had two skillets on the oven. We asked the kids which "seasoning" they liked better? Everyone choose the goat meat! There was no seasoning!

@@singleman1986 I've heard how excellent it is! There are three here, all seniors and I'm the only one willing to try it and, improve,my meals. I'm near St. Louis and wish I could find a goat herder and willing to hopefully allow me to watch/help in the butchering. I am really enjoying your videos ! We have been raising our M & M's (milk & meat) goats since 2012. Only in the USA is goat meat not the main meat for people to eat. We raise goats & chickens to feed our family. We know what they have been feed & have been given a good life. It is much healthier than commercially processed meat with growth hormones, drugs, etc. The meat & eggs are healthier & better tasting than store bought. We both butcher them ourselves or sometimes take the to the locker plant to be processed when we do not have the time to do it. Most people could not tell if the goat meat was not beef if they just tasted it, without being told. I cook it just like I do beef. We both freeze & can our meat. Keep on educating people. For people who want to raise goats, make sure to have at least two they are herd animals & you must have very, very good fences!!!!

Though I can't fathom eating my goats, mostly because mine are pets, it's so commendable that you are able to breed and process your own. I used to be of the "my food comes from the grocery store" school of thought. I was never able to think about where my meat came from. That has completely changed since moving from NY to rural Utah. I raised and butchered my own turkey for thanksgiving and will be doing meat chickens in the spring/summer. I have a large garden and learned how to can this last summer. One day I hope that I can grow all the food my family needs on my own land. Thanks for teaching us about this and opening up a whole new world to people who just don't know about raising your own livestock.

I don’t understand why people feel it’s right or even just okay to criticize someone else for their beliefs! For crying out loud, they are YOUR goats and they are raised and cared for WELL! They have a purpose and you are not inhuman about it - which brings me to another point - the word “inhumane” - people, humans are a whole lot more evil than any animal I’ve ever seen or met!!

Hi Dan, I would put goat in with buffalo. Buffalo is low in the fat and all. The taste is great, is similar to beef but a fuller (best way to say) flavor. Its like with beef, having just part of a band to listen to. With venison, buffalo, and goat getting the whole taste for your taste buds. I see Bear is still trying to get his own channel.

THANK YOU for this video. You’re helping me decide to raise some goats to stock the freezer.😃👍 We hunt occasionally & will do meat birds this spring. We may even get a couple hogs this year.
I used to be on a strict vegan diet, but wasn’t a vegan, per se. It was for health reasons only. It helped me tremendously, reversing pre-diabetes & high BP. But as soon as I could...BACK TO MEAT. 🍖 🥩 Except, now I realize that I need healthier meat...home-raised & as grass fed as possible. Again, thanks for describing the goat meat. Hubby gets it at Mediterranean restaurants and likes it. I’ve never tried it. Now I will & if I like it, we’ll raise some...& spread it around to others, so they can taste it. Break the goat barriers! lol

I bought some the other day in Boston at a caribbean butcher shop that has been around for many decades. Was there in the 90's when I was a kid and my uncle telling me it was there when he was a kid. They were clearly suprised I asked for it specifically because I don't fit the description of people who go in there and buy it I guess. They were happy, I bought a butch of stuff also. I never bought or cooked it until this week but ate it in the middle east often. I searched for this and glad i found you all. Mine was the boneless frozen cubes kind. I messed it up alittle cooking it but still turned out okay. It seemed to keep better than beef it the refrigerator a bit too. I put it in a tin foil tray

Good explanation of the goat meat. People don't understand how much goat is eaten in the rest of the world! But it only make sense that other countries that do not have very much land can raise a herd of goats to feed they're family and be able to sell some for income and to pay for feeding they're goat herd. If people don't want to eat goat or meat, that's fine but don't give meat eaters a bad time because they like meat.

300 million South Americans can't be wrong about eating goats. I have never had goat ground meat but I would trade 20 cows for 1 goat for taste.

I know you said that you would eat your dogs before your kids and I agree. What u wanted to ask is what would you make out of your dogs?? Hot dogs??? Lol. Love the videos and even the butchering of goats!! Nevermind what the naysayers are gonna gripe about and keep raising your kids the right way by teaching them how country folk are supposed to live!! As always, thank you for your service and be careful!!!

@@GGreen-yf2xk Do you even realize that Biblically animals were given to eat? That men and women are husbandmen over the animal kingdom? Why even visit a page if it goes against your beliefs? Isn't that considered pushing your beliefs on people who choose to live a life style of their choosing? I grow a garden, my vegetables etc are living things. I in essence am killing them when I harvest them. Aren't you doing the same thing?

Ok 1st - ignore the naysayers. I have asked so many homesteaders on TH-cam if they eat their goats when their milk goats give birth to a male. I get no answer at all. I’m shocked how many people will eat their chickens, cows and rabbits but not their goats. Hmmm! I have had it at restaurants and it delicious. We are wanting to get goats and need to learn more. We have learned from research that Nubian goats are the best for milking. Are they also good for meat or would we need to get 2 different kinds?

YOU, Dan, are the biggest reason I started with goat meat. It does taste AMAZING!!!! Though it's PRICY, its worth it!! The peace of mind of drastically lower cholesterol and fat!!! Just don't get why it's not more accepted in America!!!!! I suppose the all too powerful temptation of fast food because it's CHEAPER oftentimes!!! I've had goat curry about a dozen times in the last few months; once I tried "Kabrit au sos." It was all good. I don't quite trust myself to buy and cook it myself.......yet!
