- I'm still writing new music (yay!) so here is another collection from Instagram, this time they're all pop covers I've created - follow me @amyturkharp for more. This is collection of curated covers I made especially for Instagram, and then some more candid practice clips I recorded either for personal record or for past wedding clients.
Some of these clips have been extended/re-edited and a couple in this compilation have never actually been posted before (apart from for my Patreon patrons). Hope you enjoy them. x

For me You are at the Level of the best is the World. one is Dimash Qudaibergen, Diana Ankudinova, and You are at the same level, it is because the essence of the music flows through your feelings and emotions as You Play.
Amy... Big fan of your Performances! Question for you - I have a pure electric and an electroacoustic. I'm having problems figuring out how to amplify the soundboard - yours comes out so clean and clear. Is there a special pick up needed for this? I also want to try and get those soundboard beats recorded into the loop station. What devices are you using, if any?

Thanks for watching! Mostly because I have (up until recently) only ever had access to an acoustic harp, I just capture my audio with mics, no special pickup. I've never found one that captured what I really wanted. Not yet, anyway!
In terms of the sound being clean and clear, the other side of that is that I've been working physically at the sound of my harp percussion for a long time, and I'm obsessed with damping, so I think those things play a factor too. All the recordings in this compilation are either captured with my phone or with a portable stereo recorder so there's no trickery there, that's just how I sound.

Thanks for watching! The purpose of uploading compilations right now is to keep some content coming while I write original music - I have songs for solo harp and harp duo in the pipeline at the moment. I'll check out the music you mentioned from Genshin Impact though, I still love VGM. :)

Are you recording these live? If so, how do you do it all in one take, and how do you get the audio sounding so good?
These are all live recordings, the landscape ones were all using a Tascam DR-05 (like a Zoom recorder), and the portrait ones were just recorded candidly on my phone (mostly my old phone, think it was the Huawei P10?). Re: doing it all in one take - I practice! And I do a few takes.
@@amyturkharp I used to do mine live but couldn't get it to sound good with the microphone on a cheap DV camera, so now I pre-record them... also it used to take me so many takes to get it right, I imagine it's even harder on a pedal harp.

Amy, Are you ever worried you could damage your fingers from your soundboard percussion style to where it might affect your string playing?
No - you don't need to hit hard or strain yourself to strike the harp adequately, think of all the acoustic guitarists who do it. Plus, if percussion was going to damage me it'd be my wrists that'd suffer, and I'd have to be playing really hard for ages to have that kind of lasting damage.
@@amyturkharp Hope I didn't sound flippant. One time I got carried away on some bongos (not my instrument) in a fun jam and had to limit my keyboard and fretted instrument playing for several days afterwards. I hope harp-beating doesn't hurt but if it does thank-you for making that sacrifice to make such great music.
@@phlattgetit no no, it's a great question - I have bruised my wrists extensively developing my percussion playing, but have learned through the process that doing so is entirely unnecessary, so that's just what I tell people if they ask about it/want to learn to do it!

Song 3 arpeggios sound quite a lot like Coldplay - Clocks
I think the way they sound on the harp (more sustained) makes the comparison more obvious than when you hear the original context! I had actually never made the connection between the two until posting this (even though I have had to play Clocks a zillion times at background gigs in the past!)

Hello Amy, your music is so beautiful! I just had an idea. I found another TH-cam channel from Taylor Davis, she plays violin and like you plays a lot of Zelda music. I think you two could make some great music together. Just a thought.
