great thanks for sharing your struggles....Yes the WASPS destroyed my grapes...they are worse then the birds. They went for the plums until the grapes ripened then the wasps moved to the grapes. I m just a small land owner grow just a little but wow this year was the worse for the wasps.
🏆❤ I love your channel! You are excellent at focusing on getting out information (😘 no idle chitty chat)! Thanks so much for your hard work exploring frugal and environment-friendly ways to grow flowers and veg, and for making these great videos for us! 🏆
My problem at 1200 feet up is the deer and gophers. The only thing stopping the deer from my grapes has been fencing but the gophers are something else. All of my new vines Im planting into wire baskets underground and it seems to be working so far.
I also find that wire baskets are effective against gophers but they have to be above soil line as well. That’s about the only way to grow certain crops. Forget about any artichokes in the ground or naturalized bulbs!!
Flash tape tied to many branches of my peach tree worked very well. Lots of it and long strips. Had to untangle it every other day but it was worth it. Only lost a couple of peaches with bird peck marks. Had 2 owls like he showed but they only worked for a couple days till the birds got used to them.
I live on a lake, and the birds def still eat my fruit in mass. I tried the decoys & tape, neither worked, even took pictures of them lighting right next to them. Only way I could keep them out was netting, but it is just a pain to take it down & putting back up in between picking. Couldnt justify netting in an entire 2 acres, so just net the fruit in season. My papaw gave me some of the best advice though, "You just have to plant enough for them & you. Don't skimp." So I increased the production, and that seems to work haha.
Im in Massachusetts and the ONLY bird that is the pain in the butt is the catbird. They sound like a cat screaming. They even just eat the blossoms of blueberries before theres even blueberries. They dont even wait for berries. I tried everything. Tape, owls and netting. I can't seem to find netting with big enough holes that the huge bumble bee can get through so i have to leave it open until its all pollinated. Then i can net it. Its a pain those catbirds.

What’d you do to prevent it?

In Florida they string up 50 lb. test fishing line to keep the birds away from the pool.
How do they do it? Does it work?
Thanks for the tips! Wow. About 4 minutes in, you’re behind some gorgeous huge berries. What are they?
They are blackberries

Excellent.
What about squirrels 🐿️!?
Same here. Those darn things are a serious nuisance for my avocado, persimmon, and apricot.
@@mikel5582 Put a bunch of walnuts out - they will take those instead. Squirrels are very smart and very very cute - I can't dislike them 🤩
I planted a peach tree 2 years ago. This year it was full of flowers and little peaches 🍑. They destroyed every single one.
I’ve had a really good luck using an owl decoy. I do move the owl around every couple of days and have had no problem with squirrels all summer long.
@@hmmm..2733 I had one last year, it worked for 1 day and then they were climbing on top of it 🙃.
Thank you
I have 2 apple trees that were striped by racoons.
My cats bird hunt in my garden every day that’s my solution LOL
Doesn't work but it makes us feel better.
Doesn't work completely, but if you use all the methods, you will loose about 20% to 30% fruit as compared to 90% to 100%
Put out some water for the birds.
That's one of the suggestions in the video.
