  • ADI Competencies : RISK MANAGEMENT (Part 2 of 3)
    How to pass the ADI Part 3 & Standards Check Tests
    In this 3 part series you will learn about the ADI Competencies 1 to 17 and how you can pass the ADI Part 3 & Standards Check TESTS.
    In Part 2 we'll cover RISK MANAGEMENT and the 5 competencies:
    #5 Did the trainer ensure that the pupil fully understood how the responsibility for risk would be shared?
    #6 Were directions and instructions given to the pupil clear and in good time?
    #7 Was the trainer aware of the surroundings and the pupils actions?
    #8 Was any verbal or physical intervention by the trainer timely and appropriate?
    #9 Was sufficient feedback given to help the pupil understand any potential safety critical incidents?

    Having just passed my ADI 3 stages and now certified as an instructor for coaches trucks and cars I want to thank Howard for these fantastic videos so informative in facts but put in a way that really explained the requirements I needed but put in his own words they were so helpful. If your training to be an ADI best of luck , every moment you spend listening to Howard's advice will be of fantastic help to you in pursuit of a career as an ADI . If I'm ever in Norwich I would love to meet you and buy you a pint to say thanks

    Thank you for this video..There was a roundabout that I allowed her to go straight, second exit using the right hand land.. As she got onto the roundabout she tried to go straight into the left hand lane (without even looking! ).. I always tell her to just stay focused on this moment and we will talk about the mistake when we are stopped in a safe place. She didn't realise how to safely go straight on at a roundabout in the right lane as she has always only done it in the left. Some things that we may think would be obvious are not obvious to learners. We both learned and now she understands this well

From all the other videos and other instructors on youtube , who are just as great at delivering great content, I really feel I connect with you and your content the most. Can I ask you some advice on how you would recommend the mist effective way to get to know your route for a part 3 exam if the test is being held say 3-4 hours away in a location you have never been please?

    Brilliant video as always Howard very informative. I've been training since last February and have passed both my parts one and two thankfully , I've completed 40hrs plus instructor training and I'm working on my part 3 which I sit in February , long hard year lol. Could I ask your advice Howard on how long in the part 3 exam would the aim, recap, objective, risk and briefing usually take, I don't want to be to short or to long before we start the drive. Hope you don't mind me asking and thanks again for all your priceless advice. Cheers Howard. Scott.

    • @How-2-drive
      @How-2-drive  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      MrSp1man thanks for watching. No more than 10 mins talking then get onto driving practice. If you need to do an explanation do it before, and then just do a short Q&A recap on the main points.

  • @tonycurran1

    another good example if your learner turns into a new road national speed limit there is a vehicle behind you and you see your learner is going to change up without building up speed I was manage the risk I would say stay in 2nd build your speed up and tell them I will explain in a moment
    If there’s no vehicle behind I would let the fault happen and then address it👍👍

    How much time would you take to address an issue on a part 3 test. I understand that the driving time needs to be 40 minutes, would this include the time to address an issue? Many thanks for your help and support.

    Hi, I love these videos they are great, but just one question.
    I know in the middle of the pandemic they didnt want PDIs to do too much briefing and talking in a stationery car. But to adapt and showcase all these competencies you will have to do a lot of talking and stop for briefings.
    How can be this adapted in the part3 in the current circumstances?

    • @How-2-drive
      @How-2-drive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for watching. Choose a competent pupil that can drive for 40 mins. Agree a plan, any explanations (briefings) done before the start of the test lesson. Only stop if you need a time out for the pupil to understand something safety critical and you need to change and agree the plan - otherwise, keep moving.

    As a PDI it seems like there are alot of ways you can "cheat' the part 3. I'd rather be genuine. My part 3 is not booked yet. But im close to booking it, and, when it is booked, I want a pupil who is genuinely struggling with gears when approaching different roundabouts depending on whether they are able to go or have to stop. My worry is I'm going to make it hard on myself by not "scripting" the lesson/test 🤷🙈🚗👌

  • @ali71201

    Hi..do we need to pay ridiculous amount of money for training for part 3 or can we save some cost of it?

    • @How-2-drive
      @How-2-drive  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no requirement to take any professional training before taking the Part 3 exam, unless you wish to take a trainee licence then you must do at least 40 hours, plus another 20 before taking the test. The pass rate for Part 3 is around 36% so without any training the likelihood of a pass would be less than this, based on my 12 year’s experience.

    • @How-2-drive

      Yes but only if absolutely necessary. After a safety critical incident or to change the plan. If stopping, keep it brief, 2 minutes and get moving
