Trials of Mana Once was locked in Japan but now realeased worldwide cause of Collection of Mana. Later, it got a remake and it was very good. Fun gameplay, awesome music, fun characters, good replay value and a good story too. Sure it has some flaws like the English voice acting is lol bad and funny but it did very well compared to Secret of Mana Remake. By the way my favorite character in Trials of Mana are Kevin and Charlotte, love those two sweethearts.
The visions of mana announcement had me jumping back into Trials for another play through. I plan to pick up Secret of Mana on PC during the steam sale

I really wish I got Tomb Raider: Anniversary back in the day. That game looks like a night and day improvement over the original. Now if only we can get Tomb Raider II, III, and IV remade in that game’s style.
I know asypr and crystal dynamic are doing tomb raider 1 to 3 remastered for modern consoles like ps4, ps5, xbox and nintendo switch it comes out in feb 2024 dunno if they gonna use the anniversary engine but they probly are
@@clintbrew I saw the trailer for that. It doesn’t look like it’ll use the Anniversary engine. It looks a lot like what you get if devs did the barest minimum to remaster the games for modern consoles. Lara’s mouth doesn’t even move when she speaks.
@@FastTquickthat’s the only trailer for the collection it could be possible that they either update it in a day one patch or in the future to where Lara’s mouth has animations for when she’s talking for in game cutscenes.
Resident Evil Remake should be on the top of this list. Easily the best RE game still to this day and a perfect example on how you should remake a game. Pokemon Gen 1 and 2 remakes are super good, too. Can't believe HeartGold/SoulSilver didn't make it to the list and no one mentions these games in the comments.
After so many re-releases of Super Mario 64, we really need a remake of the remake, Super Mario 64 DS. All that's needed is analog control and higher resolution.
Good add with Tomb Raider: Anniversary. That trilogy was VERY good at the time (Anniversary, Legend, Underworld), similar to the renaissance Lara got with the newest trilogy of games this past gen.
The picks on this list are pretty good, but I'd also like to mention some more: - Super Mario Brothers 3 remake on the SNES Took an legendary game and elevated it even further Resident Evil 1 Remake on Gamecube - WOW. Just 1 generational difference was enough to get a timeless look to one ot the grandfathers of the survival horror genre - Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled - One of the best cart racing games ever made not only gets a faithful remake of its campaign, cast, and tracks it ALSO becomes a love letter to the rest of the Crash cart racing games and the franchise as a whole. Beenox went above and beyond when all we were asking for was a simple remake. The content on offer here is nuts. - Trials of Mana Going from being a Japanese only release for 25 years before not only getting localized on the Switch but a full blown remake? And the game still holds up to this day, despite hewing very close to the original's contents. - Live-A-Live Remake This shit was Japan-only but considered an unappreciated gem for decades before Square-Enix went insane and remade the hell out of it. Again, it is very faithful to the original game showing that we had an all-time classic just... sitting there for decades - Star Ocean 2: The Second Story R This one is very recent but WOW. Hearing diehards go through the game with a fine-tooth comb and find that the dev team has seemingly, and consciously touched and improved every aspect of a lgendary game is something else. The team behind the remake showed they didn't just respect SO2, but absolutely love it with really thoughtful QoL improvements, judicious changes here and there all while retaining the game as a whole. Sometimes you can feel the labor of love behind a project. I could go on and on, but damn at this point the industry has no excuse to churn out bad remakes. We have plenty of examples to live up to as is. And for those who want remakes to stop? It's not going to happen. They existed before you fell out of your mother, and they'll continue long after you're dust. Media deserves to be preserved, updated, and made available to future generations.
For someone who has already played all the listed games in this video, Final Fantasy VII: Remake is absolutely the one that blew me away! This is how remakes should be done being approachable to newcomers and also giving something new to the old fans!

One of the first remakes I think I’ve ever seen is the one for resident evil on the GameCube and that is still one of the best ones I’ve ever ever played. But then resident evil four just got a remake itself, and it’s one of the best of its kind. I would say Samus Returns, Mario RPG, Final Fantasy seven, resident evil, resident evil four fire emblem shadow dragon are my favorites.
Not the most retro one, i understand (a 2008 release on the PS2) but Yakuza Kiwami 2, the leap from PS2 was incredible, i want to play the PS2 version but i bet prices are ridiculous these days :)
Black Mesa, the Half-Life remake, has got to be one of the most ambitious community-made remakes of them all. It brought new life into a game that defined the FPS genre. Am rather shocked that didn't make the list.
Not exactly a remake, but fans have been porting jak 1and 2 to PC and it runs beautifully and looks amazing. It's almost as much improvement as you'd expect from a remake. Still some bugs but I have no doubt that when this project is done, we'll have some amazing new jak experiences implemented by modders.
Im surprised you didn't included the Demon Souls remake, or the anniversary editions of Halo 1 and 2, or the Dead Space remake, or the Resident Evil remakes, seriously, you need to make another list
I believe that the remakes of Secret of Mana & Trials of Mana (especially the second!!!) should also be on the list. The original games might be ahead of their time, but their controls look kind of tough by today's standards (especially in the ios android port!!!), and I believe that the remakes are WAY more accesible to those not familliar with the franchise!

I’m still waiting for a Banjo Kazooie remake. I don’t even care who makes it at this point as long as it’s done right. But if the remakes I’ve played, my favorites are Pokémon Omega Ruby, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Ocarina of Time 3D
I've been saying this since forever, but BANDAI NAMCO is sitting on some pretty good games. I wish they would remaster/remake as a trilogy like Crash Bandicoot did, of Ace Combat 4, 5, & Zero! People would pay for those, especially 4 & 5.

While Samus Returns is an nice remake and an solid way to play an version of Metroid 2, I think Zero Mission does an Metroid remake far better than Samus Returns because aside of just being an remake of Metroid 1, it felt brand new and has better replay value. And if we're gonna count mods, than AM2R would also top that and the best version of Metroid 2.
What kind of a list is this?? Ducktales and Tomb Raider over Metroid Prime Remastered, Dead Space Remake, System Shock Remake, Pokemon HGSS, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, Shadow of the Colossus, Black Mesa???
As a fan of the original Spyro and Crash games, I was actually disappointed with the remakes. I didn't appreciate the excessive cartoony action, drastically different voice acting, and in the formers case, needless redesigning of literally everything. These games did not feel nostalgic for me
Link's Awakening HD, Fire Emblem New Mystery of the Emblem: The Heroes of Light and Shadow, Fire Emblem: Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver, Pokemon Firered & Leafgreen.
The new Final Fantasy seven is not a remake. It’s a sequel. The whole point of the game is trying to change the timeline from the original game which takes place in an alternate universe. In the final battle of the game, you literally fight the original cloud, Tifa and Barrett from the original seven game. Not to mention, they completely change the story and gameplay from the original.
@@elChirrinChirriondelDiablo it can’t be a reimagining or soft reboot if the original game literally takes place. They can call it a remake all they want but that’s not what they made. You literally fight against the cloud, Tifa and Barrett from the original FF7 so this clearly takes place afterwards. I think they call those sequels.

If you are referring to whatever is called in the fight before sephiroth, there’s nowhere referring to them as cloud tifa and barret, some fans says they are yazoo loz and kadaj from advent children but it’s in both cases a stretching to say the least.
No mention of Medievil? How dare you. Medievil is the best remake of a PS1 by far. Final Fantasy VII might look better, but Medievil stayed faithful to the 1998 game with little to no change. That's exactly what a remake should aspire to be like

Earthbound Beginnings REALLY needs a remake with the rolling HP bar from it sequels and a better difficulty curve. It has not aged well.

I think Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia should be on this list. Its a remake of a classic Japanese exclusive Fanicom game on the 3DS.

I’m still waiting for a Banjo Kazooie remake. I don’t even care who makes it at this point as long as it’s done right. But if the remakes I’ve played, my favorites are Pokémon Omega Ruby, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Ocarina of Time 3D
I've been saying this since forever, but BANDAI NAMCO is sitting on some pretty good games. I wish they would remaster/remake as a trilogy like Crash Bandicoot did, of Ace Combat 4, 5, & Zero! People would pay for those, especially 4 & 5.

While Samus Returns is an nice remake and an solid way to play an version of Metroid 2, I think Zero Mission does an Metroid remake far better than Samus Returns because aside of just being an remake of Metroid 1, it felt brand new and has better replay value. And if we're gonna count mods, than AM2R would also top that and the best version of Metroid 2.

As a fan of the original Spyro and Crash games, I was actually disappointed with the remakes. I didn't appreciate the excessive cartoony action, drastically different voice acting, and in the formers case, needless redesigning of literally everything. These games did not feel nostalgic for me

The new Final Fantasy seven is not a remake. It’s a sequel. The whole point of the game is trying to change the timeline from the original game which takes place in an alternate universe. In the final battle of the game, you literally fight the original cloud, Tifa and Barrett from the original seven game. Not to mention, they completely change the story and gameplay from the original.
No it isn’t it makes absolute no sense to be a sequel. It’s a reimagining or a soft reboot.

You literally fight against the cloud, Tifa and Barrett from the original FF7 so this clearly takes place afterwards. I think they call those sequels.

If you are referring to whatever is called in the fight before sephiroth, there’s nowhere referring to them as cloud tifa and barret, some fans says they are yazoo loz and kadaj from advent children but it’s in both cases a stretching to say the least.

No mention of Medievil? How dare you. Medievil is the best remake of a PS1 by far. Final Fantasy VII might look better, but Medievil stayed faithful to the 1998 game with little to no change. That's exactly what a remake should aspire to be like
