What about a paid internship? I tried getting a job at a clinic as an assistant and no one would take me because no one was willing to train me. I’ve been volunteering at a rescue hospital and I’m learning how to draw blood, calculate dosages and prep for surgery and do exams and administer vaccines and medications. I found the opportunity through the student pre-vet association at my school. I’m taking every opportunity I’m offered, but I’m worried that because I don’t have a job I won’t get in.

Paid internship counts as a job! Many of our students did not have paid experience before vet school. You can check out our resources on our website for more information!

Do most people who go to Vet school graduate?
How many people are turned away because the school doesn’t have space?

is graduating a year early a turn off? or does it show resilience?

I had a 4.0 gpa as a graduate student from the UF college of Medicine and five peer reviewed journal articles in quality publications, I graduated with a MS degree from the college of medicine, my undergrad was a BS in chemistry and I had years of experience working with animals as a UF employee … I interviewed and was wait listed …I was told if I applied next year I’d get in. I instead went to anesthesiologist assistant school and now 13 years later I’m making 250k a year have no student loans and couldn’t be happier. UF vet pschool is an elitist club of entitled wankers

Completely agree with your view on UFs vet school. I wish I would have had your insight to pursue nurse anesthetist- instead I went to vet school OOS
