Hey Mariie and Eamon. Yea, unfortunately this behavior is common among some Kenyan attendants. I've never encountered anyone try to get money from my hubby through me. But we've had a number of cases where vendors attempt to sell us commodities and or services at outrageous prices! I'm a vigilant woman, I do research about stuff ahead of time, I do try much as I can to protect my husband from extortive behavior. Just like many Caucasian persons, My husband is quite a giver in terms of tipping and or giving out cash to people who look needy out here which is very okay! I'm however on the look out to ensure he isn't being taken advantage of. My advise, protect your man whenever you are in Africa. Sending love ❤
Hello mariie, thanks for the beautiful video, the lady who sold to you outfits in Diani at fair prices is appreciating you for mentioning her name and recommending people to go and support her. I just saw her comment on TOM AND JOY TH-cam channel, she mentioned you and your fiance's name there thanking you for the good heart. Just know she's so happy......Much love from Uganda
Mariie, thank you for keeping us posted on your love journey 🥰with Eamon. You are a lovely couple. Eamon, thanks for loving and supporting Mariie always😊Love you guys❤❤❤
Miss, Marie, Pls let Eamon know that in Africa, once you choose one of us, or a sister, you are family with the whole continent. It's like you chose the whole of us n we luv you just as much. Thumbs up bro in love. Commenting frm SA
Yes Mariie i guess it is an African thing, for me everytime they see my husband the prices suddenly go high, like for instance, when we ask for a service, i tell him to stay back so that they charge me properly and he comes out after the charge has been given to me ,we are at Maseru Lesotho 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 even something as simple as delivery
I've resorted to this lately and it works. Problem is I'm generally warm by nature and tend to smile alot at strangers so I have to remind myself everytime to appear tough. Lol
I've learnt alot from this vlog, thanks for uploading ❤ When I get my Caucasian man I will know how to go around entitled folks and I'll make sure I teach him a thing or two and I'll be very very vigilant when we're outside together 💯
lol have experienced the same with my friends who are not Kenyan to a point where sometimes they have to hide first for us to bargain before they show up lol 😂
Oh Dear. it's disgusting! Im a Kenyan married to an Aussie man, and it was such an awful experience to have strangers ask for money with no shame at all. We were in Kenya in 2019 and I just had enough!! So what I did, I taught my hubby some simple Swahili words/sentences so as to have conversations around money e.g "mzungu Sina pesa"." bado sijalipwa".. so every time someone would speak Swahili to me asking for money, I would ask hubby if he has money to give ( in Swahili) and he would respond to them in Swahili.. we all laughed and walked away. Just make fun out of it cz I think the mentality that white people are cash cows is deep rooted in some people.
Hi Marie I enjoyed this vlog ! It was so soothing plus the music to go along with it. Thank you for sharing your wonderful journey you and Emmons with us.
Hello Marilie, your boyfriend is very funny😂😂😂 I think you guys as couples going to be together for the entire live, when your parner is funny, loving care, gentleman, compasioned, that relationship going to last forever 🙏💯👏👏👏❤️
My husband is Australian but they don’t. When you go anywhere let people see, realise you are the one who handles the bills and money. It’s me who gives the tip if I wish to.😅
Hey Marie, about your question about tips. You need to be very strict with these people who are trying to extort your husband. I am so strict with those people. There is nothing I hate like that. They will absolutely not extort him when I am around, no way. You just need to be a " mbwa kali". Here is why, these same people will never do the same when you are alone. For me when my hubby is in Kenya, he gives me his credit card to pay when we are out and about for everything to avoid that nonsense. So that when someone asks for a tip they have to through me(the mbwa kali😂😂). If you gave good service, sawa I will tip but if not si lazima. Also, I don't tip people who outrightly ask for tips, its at my discretion. Also, for us when know good service when we see one and always happy to tip when that happens. Hope this helps!
Yuh asking for money really intrigues me and sometimes annoys me Coz when I visit my partner in UG, people will expect me to bring out the money and stuff but I found that if I get him to pay, they kind of give up. It a working progress to get people to understand we aren’t money cows.
The reason they ask for money from him is they assume you are also with him primarily for money,am Ugandan bt most people think interracial relationships are simbaotic
I'm not in a relationship but i think that's unacceptable and you shouldn't entertaine such people, if someone tells that again, just tell them he has not because you guy are on a budget or you just act like you didn't hear anything, otherwise you guys might end up doing charity and besides no body asks for a tip! It comes from you appreciating their services not the other way around. I love you both so much. From UG
That's snake plant. I'm a plant mom and I'm falling more in love with house plants 🪴 alot. I have all your plants excluding the bamboo which I'm getting soon. For the those asking for tips, it's so disgusting and disrespectful of them. Unfortunately that's what most Kenyans think of whites, that they are cash cows. Sorry for that though, hope you find a better way to deal with it. GRACE CLOY
That's really nice...I love connecting with other plant mom especially because I'm still in my trial and error stage. Still figuring out what works best for individual plants. I especially love the bamboo plant. Very low maintenance. And for the rude people...I decided to just ignore them. It's really the best I can do.
Please tell me more about snake plants, I need them for when I go to Africa in September....I so don't like those reptiles. I wanna buy for my mom. Thanks
@lizzsibs Snake plants are incredibly easy to grow, they have a number of health benefits, including filtering indoor air, removing toxic pollutants, and boosting mental health. It's also aesthetically beautiful in the house and especially in the bedroom because of It's air purifying property. They are also different species of the plant to choose from depending on your preference.
Maria all our blacks ....I'm sorry to say and I'm sorry for their mentality....they think all WHITE MEN ARE RICH....but you have tobe the one to protect him....❤❤
