Yes, walking in high heels on a catwalk covered with petals (either true of false ones) is a true nightmare! Several shows have been clouded by numerous models falling because of that (Barila Spring 2010, Emilia Vishnevskaya Fall 2014, Keraia Fall 2016)...
I think the morgue wants it’s bodies back too!, I remember when models had such beauty, they all look so miserable, but I guess it doesn’t help when you’re falling about like a new born calf! lol
Don't like Maria's work - the Dior "new look" small waist, big round skirt looks so dated, plus the pale pink/nude colors on this dated shape just looks so faded, washed out and dull. The young beautiful models actually look so bloodless and weak. The jackets and skirts look so matronly, this just looks so vintage in a old tired way and then suddenly the black see through trashy netting looks, jarring you in another terrible way. Tragic.
There is a reason Pierpaolo Piccioli stayed at VALENTINO...Now we all know who had the talent in that collaboration. Maria Grazia needs to resign. This is like a funeral dirge.

Investors helped drive that growth, "bidding the stock up by some 75 percent," according to Forbes. They clearly aren't concerned by the hit-and-miss reviews of collections from Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri or worried whether the influencer bubble might burst - they just see dollar signs”
K let’s get real here about Maria Grazia for a second , is she a good designer yes , is she a good fit for Dior? The woman is definitely evolving. This was yet another step in the right direction and could possibly be her best moment at this house. Nobody in their right mind could justify that these clothes weren't beautiful...beautiful and unapologetically wearable. Expectation is a killer sometimes. I think those of us who grew up with Galliano at the helm have the heavy weight of his fantasy on our expectations but....high fashion is first and foremost about what the buyers will order to put in the stores. The fantasy does not make the sale. Those of us who prioritize the show, the models, the otherworldliness, aren't usually the ones actually dropping the cash for the pieces. This collection was chock full of beautiful signature pieces that would elevate any wardrobe. The proportions were right, there were some gorgeous volumes, sharp suits (that bone suit with the of-the-moment bermuda short was a wonderful unique take), etherial pleats, diaphanous movement....I loved that white grecian gown at the beginning, those sleek ombre coats, the art nouveau florals, the absolutely stunning godet skirts near the end. The only misguided moments, for me, were the looks with the mesh and the "ethic" tunics...and she honestly needs to meet a palette that includes hues other than black, navy and blush. All in all, though....if you remove the label and look at the clothes, this is a beautiful collection. You then have to ask yourself why you care so much about the name in the first place.
There are some really pretty pieces, but a lot of designers can create pretty dresses. She has to do something new, not just create the same old silhouettes. If you remove the label, it's nothing more than a nice brand, Dior is more than that.
I care about fashion as a real life entity more than I care about labels. This is far from the best collection I've ever seen, but I have to give credit where credit is due. She is trying something new, while maintaining a signature and trying to appeal to the post-millennial, burgeoning Chinese market. The color palette and the styling is tired, but the things I mentioned, new proportions in suits, the gorgeous pleating, the pinpoint embroidery. Look closely at the details and they are very new for Maria Grazia. She may have less impact at first glance, but the details are very thoughtful. Most people expect impossible volumes, over-the-top appliqué, electric colors and distracting styling/production....but those. things. don't. sell. It may be difficult to swallow but there has been steady revenue growth under Maria and Christian Dior remains the highest selling brand in the world.
Totally agree with you.. so many people had in their minds "Galliano" who personally talking I didn't like his designs too Avant Garde .fantasy. which is not the French approach to haute couture ( Technics ). I mean....I loved Galliano....and I loved Simons for Dior (his debut couture collection is in the top 10 for me)....but even Dior is allowed to come down from the couture rafters. The only people who care that Dior isn't a "show" anymore are the people who only value Dior FOR the show (i.e. people who can't afford the clothes). If someone can only judge the collection by the label, they have some priorities to sort out.
