I just got your message, I would like to answer your question openly. In order to see a video where the attacker throws real punches, as you asked, I think the best way is to punch me by yourself! in this way, you will see how Ba Gua work. Plus, there are so many techniques for different attacks, for jad, we do not grab but we will use other techniques. So please find a person who is good at Ba Gua and try with him, or when you have chance, come here to try with me if you want.
This the high level fighting side of the art of Ba Gua, rarely seen in TH-cam videos or even other instructional videos with a few exceptions. Outstanding.
This teacher is fucking good. I love his style of teaching using real life speed and demanding you do just as he does. What he teaches is pure self defense combat designed to end an encounter in seconds. This is not sport fighting or bullshitsu as most Mcdojos and TH-cam so called masters teach, this is real martial science/art and it works on the street well. This guy is truly a rare person, a genuine master of an effective martial art. Homage

All these superquick turns, circles and takedowns. Impressive and brutally effective methinks. The students are moving in slowmotion compaired to the skilled Master. Deep knowledge of the form is Everything. ^_^ Thank you for the share Sifu.
I've trained in Bak Mei for 8 years so far. Bak Mei has internal sets and applications, and this video is useful for me to see another internal style's applications. I can see the parallels. This is a good sifu.
very impressive applications. i love how the forms really come to life and can be applied to an actual fighting scenario. every part of the form comes into play. incredible footwork. awesome vid!!
I am really enjoying Master Hai Yang videos. I've been studying bagua for about five years now. It's so great to be able to send my fellow students to videos like this to see real world applications of what we've been learning. Thanks so much!
... But all out sparring doesn't work as well as in striking-only styles - one of you would have a broken ankle or knee, a dislocated shoulder etc. That is why internal stylists are a little tired of being told their techniques "don't work" by people who mis-understand them. Yes these are single defenses against single attacks, but we train to be able to effectively combine them and adapt fluidly to attacks.
This is my favourite video of Baguazhang applications! The school I go to in Australia teaches a different style of Baguazhang that derives from Jiang style to intermediate students. I’m still a beginner in Internal Martial Arts learning Mián Quán, and hopefully soon in the future Chen Style Taìjí Quán. I really enjoy seeing the differences between styles. 😁
I don't know much about Bagua and I wish i had the chance to study it. But I've always enjoyed the evasive circular motion of it. I know it's entirely silly but for "practice when i was in high school in dodgeball i'd dodge using similar circular movements. The momentum you build up is very interesting. I wish I had an chance to study it formally.
Very awesome applications. I love the way you go right into the circle after applications or when you discharge energy in the lifting of the palms and how you stay in close and bridge to get inside....
I forgot about these videos. One of a very few good Baguazhang application videos on the web. Next time I come cross country ill like to come train with you
This is a drill practice session. If the arm is not caught, the practitioner may follow the arm in, or/and go for the body to grapple, whereupon any catching of limbs or body parts thereafter (and this is the critical bit of logic to note) is as plausible as UFC/MMA/BJJ stuff we are all so familiar with, but done Bagua style (takedown, without actually going to ground with the opponent).

But you see you cant just go out and expect someone of high caliber to go out and demonstrate their art to their full potentiial, for one it goes against
Is this art form an rooted in Kung Fu? It appears to have many of the circular moves, footwork and positioning of Kung Fu. This looks like a pretty cool Martial Art to learn. Thanks for posting.
Impressive. Just one question..what branch of bagua is this. I practice Gao. Though there is a likeness of movements the applications are different. Real nice clip. Anyone who says otherwise is inexperienced.
cheng
Well put.
i'm not saying that you were dancing, :-) just was curious if this is really baqua that is all... some people sell different things under popular names sometimes ;-)
wth this is awesome
Good example of the "lake" palm
A master is also responsible for the safety of his students, especially the younger ones. That's why they're also told to limit their speed. And you don't expect him to post a video of his most advanced personal sparring lessons for free on the net do you? To learn his ultimate techniques you'll have to actually study under his tutelage. I certainly wish I could.
good bagua by the sifu..great work.
what the kung fu or most arts (non-sports related) were originally intended for, to protect nd defend , second even in a competitive aspect of it your still limited to harming the person and in competetition theirs rules ... i swear no one will be satisfied with someone efforts to bring to light their insight until someone is missing an eye or levitating you in the air by their mere chi lol ... i can tell you that if you wanna try some arts that really get down to the point, and really get the
is that air bending?
Najmi Hafiy Izzat no it is the real life form of gentle fist style, known as hakkesho (japan) or whatever the fuck the name is in the title (too frustrated pronouncing the word!) personally I would rather learn the anime gentle fist style over real life, in the anime you have multiple types of '8 trigrams' which can be 64 palms, 128 palms, 256 palms, etc. the most deadly (presumably) is 4096 palms (or 64 squared which at that point you have basically annihilated the opponent!)
no thats airbending and he is from the air nomad..
Najmi Hafiy Izzat maybe it is both? I know hakkesho is gentle fist style (presumably according to resources)
+MetalHead1652 gentle fist and airbending were both based on bagua. so perhaps he's the offspring of a hyuga and an air nomad
Actually this was featured in Avatar: the last air bender
As always, you should personally go verify if it works or not. I'm sure they will gladly let you show them where they are mistaken.
I did a bit of aikido and judo and watching you all do falls on a hard floor.... ouch... just.... ouch.... but much respect.
Thanks, not that painful.
Pain is part of Kungfu, It makes you tough. I used to call it pain fu in the beginning.
I want to learn ba gua
Who are the guys laughing in the background?
Sir, do you know if the Chinese soldiers of today or any time in the past trained specifically in Ba Gua or Tai Chi for use on the battlefield?
No idea about it...thanjks,
