You really don’t have to take the lens off when extending and retracting lens to save the motor, just point the camera down when you turn the camera on, and point the camera up when you turn it off, very simple!
Finally broke down and ordered this. Been looking at expensive cameras so I figured I’d give this a try first for a wider view. I plan on unscrewing before turning it off to save the motor
What’s up David! I just picked this up as well. It’s pretty rad. I just posted a video of the best accessories for the zv1 and there’s 2 you should definitely get. Start with the grip base plate cause it allows you to open your battery door while on the tripod.... game changer for the zv1 and RX100
I have the ulanzi wide lens and can confirm it is a very useful piece of kit and great value. The macro lens that it comes with is also useful. It also comes with the 3M precut adhesive tape (including spares) so no need to buy it separately.

But if, you just put it on when the camera is already on and put it off before you turn the camera off? That way you don't stress the motor at all right?

I just got one of these and now I'm kinda worried about using it too often. I had not thought of the effect of the weight on the lens motors.
9:15 I'm always amazed by my Canon Vixia for macro stuff. I can just keep going closer until the camera is touching the object and it stays sharp.

I have been watching videos about this wide angle lens options all day! I'm glad I found your video. The only issue is I have a very small recording space. Do you think if the Sony ZV1 can capture a 145 inch wide shot from 63 inches away with the wide angle lens?
Ulanzi really brings some dope stuff to the market and the price is generally right.
I have tried two units and both of them filtered the noise of the focus motor in the audio of the videos. And I'm not talking about the Zoom, but about the AF. And it's funny because I've seen many reviews and no one talks about this issue.

I'm worried about the growth limitation with this camera though. Do I get this for now? Or do I bite the bullet and spend on an A6600 with growth potential?

Having to stick an adhesive to an expensive ass camera is the dumbest thing ever. Sony needs a v2
The problem with a v2 that goes wider is that we’ll then probably lose length. So maybe instead of a 24-70, it’s a 16-35. Good for vlogging, but then not great for photos where I love being at 50mm

Since it is connected via 58mm thread, do you think it's possible to also connect with other lenses? I think it's possible. If you can confirm that it works with other lenses I might get one.
I discovered Jack Woodhams' channel yesterday. He installed a Gizmon extension tube
with a bayonet mount and added the HD Wide & Macro Conversion Lens. Would the bayonet mount be safer than using the adhesive ring?

Maybe aim the camera up when retracting the lens so the weight actually helps the motor.
I've seen this suggestion made by other photographers and I think facing it down when zooming out.

I just returned the Ulanzi lens for two main reasons: First, I just hate the thought of applying adhesive to my camera. For some, this may not be an issue but I'm really nit picky about these type of things. Secondly, the thought of me using the Ulanzi lens attachment in a scorching hot climate like Vegas makes me extremely nervous, as I have heard some ppl mention that the lens has detached from the adhesive melting. So I'm gonna order the Neewer LS Wide angle lens instead for these reasons 😏
What might you recommend for a different vlogging camera with a wider angel lens?

is it good for the motor to hold the lens for long ? will it cause damage to the motor?
Got the lens and it broke my motor and the original lens became blurry. I sent it to sony and they are blaming me for the damages saying I dropped it. They are trying to charge me $267 to fix or $87 to return it as a refusal fee. smh! Im so upset.

How do you get rid of the grainy (or noise) on the ZV-1? It’s my biggest issue.
ulanzi works as expected...quite good actually.....surprise surprise it works perfect with my nikon Dx 35mm 1.8 G lens ...just widens my favorite lens that extra touch.

You could use that ring to add extra nd filters if you need more for video on a bright day
Do you think the weight of the lens will affect the motor in the long run?
It's hard to tell how much strain it's putting on the motor, so only time will tell! It's something though that I'll only put on the camera at certain times, so my motor will probably be safe👍

A review by a purchaser on Amazon states that the Sony ZV-1 camera does NOT film continuously. According to that person, although you can film continuously, the camera breaks down into 10 minute segments. Another reviewer reveals that the Sony ZV-1 does not interface with Apple's iOS. I would appreciate a comment from an actual user here. Both of these criticisms are deal breakers for me since I have an Apple MacBook Pro and am planning to get the new 24" desktop. I don't know enough about posting and editing videos on Apple to know why this wouldn't be so.
I'm not sure what they're referring to, I haven't had that experience. Not only do I regularly transfer files to my iPhone via the app, I also hook the ZV-1 to my MacBookPro as my webcam for Zoom meetings. The only record limits are when you're in XAVC S 4K or 120fps

is not the only problem, as the hole is in the wrong place so we have to undo the mount plate all the time to change the battery. I trying to modified mine.
Is the Sony zv-1 good for low light situations like going inside a museum?
It’s actually quite good! It has a large sensor for a small camera and can hold up indoors really well. Even at night while traveling, it’s been a great camera to get the shot, even if a little noise in the shadows comes into play

Sony is missing an opportunity. The camera needs to have a filter thread. They could make and sell both a wide angle and telephoto lens converters.

All these wide angle adapters are really unnecessary. I don’t understand why everyone wants to complain so much about 24mm. Use a small pole etc and it’s sorted. Much easier than playing with adapters and ADHESIVES 😂😂😂. Maybe this cameras is not suited to these people. This cameras rocks as it is. Just get a dummy battery and external power bank and you have a beast!
20mm with no crop would be enough, not a fan of vlogs in ultrawide (16mm).
For sure depends on how/what you’re filming, but yeah 20mm is usually enough👍
