Everything you will need to do the swap can be found in the description of the video, however heres some things I forgot to mention in the video:
You will need a Re-Tune to account for the gear ratio change.
You will need to bleed the new slave cylinder. All you need is someone to pump the clutch pedal for a few times, hold it to the floor and Crack open the 8mm bleeder nipple on the cylinder for a second and continue this process until clear fluid with no air bubbles comes out.
Exhaust Hanger is on the wrong side on the sti transmission and there's no mount on the opposite side so you'll have to fab up your own exhaust Hanger mount or run without it.
Transmission carrier is different but interchangeable. You'll need to re,-use your wrx one or your exhaust will rattle on it.
Youll need the Sti dust shield, no dust shield, or bend your wrx shield (I bent mine and have no issues)
Super informative video!
Thanks for the breakdown. Quick question, I heard of issues of the display cluster reading the incorrect gear even after a retune.
For instance I heard 5th gear will still register as fourth gear on the cluster. Have you ran into this issue? Was the tune able to fix the display?
I appreciate the insight!
@@chasecenteno I had that issue before retune but after the tune adjustment it reads correctly!
@@StreetInspired1 Awesome thanks for the info man!
The HEART RENCHING suspense of starting a car after you just did a spinal cord transplant lol Sorry this happened, but I'm glad you ended up with the upgrade. Super happy to see it up and running again!
Lmfao spinal cord transplant🤣
Bro I’ve been following your builds since the silver wrx! Keep the content coming! Youre not just “street inspired” you’re my inspiration! You don’t understand how much motivation you’ve given me to continue building my wrx. I always refer back to your videos any time I have install troubles. Thanks for the great content and all of the help! Keep it up 👍🏼
Thank you for all the support I really appreciate it!
Did my swap a few months back and its by far the best thing ive done to my wrx. Great info man this is awsome content! The iwire dccd control is amazing!
What type of iwire connections you used for the dccd controller. I only have the oem dccd controller. I don't know what else should I need. Thanks
Saving this in my “Future Mod (How-To)” playlist
Awesome video. Sometimes those mistakes make for good informative content! Now I can't wait to see how it drives!!!! I'm so excited man! I've been bugging you about this swap for a while, I'm so happy for ya that it's done! Congrats brotha!
That's very true. If we don't make the mistakes we can't learn from them! And thank you!
@@StreetInspired1 it sucks it had to be you lol but this platform I'm sure has helped plenty. I have this saved to a Playlist so I can come back to it next summer when I do mine! You got me soooo suped!!@ hahahaha
An Evo owner is following this channel. This build is dope af 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks man! I love evos too! I've had 9 DSMs. Never had an Evo but have lots of friends with them. My dream is to have both! Haha
Do you think that an aftermarket clutch for sti will fit in the VB with sti transmission swap?
Great Video, Would of be helpful if you released this about 2 months ago before i finished mine! Easiest way to separate the transmission from the engine is use a 2x4 or 4x6 piece of wood and prop it against the pitch stop mount on the transmissions and hit it with a sledgehammer. Then only use a pry bar or ultra thick screwdriver to superate it. It is definitely easier to just remove the shifter cables from the box and leave them on the transmission. You also don't have to remove any bolts from the rear trailing arm. Just remove the Diff mount bolts and lower the Diff.
it would be good to mention that you should put the reluctor wheel on the correct way and lined up (for the crank position sensor). I put mine on backwards and the car wouldn't start and i had to take everything apart again.
I did everything completely by myself and it was a royal pain to line up the transmission and i had to do it 3 times! It helps to use a transmission lift and a jack to line up the angle. Then basically keep wiggling and pushing. I use the longer bolts to slowly bolt it back together with minimal force. If it got too tight i would loosen and then wiggle and adjust more. when it was less than 1/2in together you can pretty much just bolt it together.
You mention that the DCCD stays in automatic mode with that wire harness but that's not exactly correct. It's going to be sitting in the mostly open settings with significantly less power to the front wheel. As the DCCD controller applies current to locks up the DCCD more. Without a controller there is no power going to the controller. IF you have a 2018+ tranmission then the lockup is even less without a DCCD controller. As the 2017 and older use mixed mechanical lockup and electronic and the 2018+ is almost all electronic. You really should definitely get a DCCD controller. I used the DCCDpro spider plus with taps into the ABS. You cannot use a STI replacement Gauge cluster on the 2015+ WRX that works with the DCCD. The best thing to do is use the OEM DCCD controls and then a separate LCD for for the lockup display. DCCDPro also has an option to use the OEM DCCD controllers without a LCD display for lockup and you can guess the lockup amount by the color and intensity of the RED glow on the controls .
You’re a beast my man so sick to document all of this it’s truly selfless of you
12:00 this gives me flashbacks to the nightmare of a time I had trying to do the same thing with my car (05 WRX -> 04 JDM STI). Trying to maneuver around that massive STI transmission with little to no working room due to doing the swap on jack stands was horrible. I swear my back hurt for a week once I was done with everything from rolling around on the floor. The rear sub frame wasn't any better. I balanced the whole thing on a jack as I tried to bolt everything into place.
That has to be the worst part of this swap! A lift with a transmission jack would've been great haha
So I watched your video, but I may have missed it but I have the same problem with the missing plate on the shifter assembly and was wondering if you have a name or part number I can use to find the part?
Great video, by the way. Love the wide body fender flares!
Great video, needed this at the beginning of my swap! Waiting for my clutch to come in and get the trans back on… will be referring back to this… thanks!
Badass man, that swap does look pretty easy.
It's honestly really easy. The part that took 80% of the time was searching for a tool I just had in my hand 2 seconds ago and getting the transmission in the car haha
Great walkthrough! How much better does the sti shifting feel? The wrx is so crunchy and not smooth.
Such a cool video, very informative! Do the STI axles mate up with the WRX hubs or are the splines different?
They mated up with mine. The swap came with new hubs but I didn't need them!
So what exactly failed on your wrx transmission? Great job explaining the sti install.
Still haven't determined. Haven't gotten around to taking it apart. But thank you!
Awesome video and thank you. I am definitely looking to go this route. Will be doing it in the garage of course!
Right in the middle of this same swap. Doing it myself, so it is a little slower going. Glad you did this swap!
It takes time when you're doing it by yourself but it's worth it for sure!
@@StreetInspired1 definitely gonna need it for the power the engine is gonna make. 😁
@@2018wrxaddict that's the spirit! 🔥🔥
@@StreetInspired1 was figuring out how to move the transmission up and forward so I could get the shifter lever up through the opening and also get the crossmember against the car to bolt it on but had to leave. I'll get it 👍
@@2018wrxaddict that's got to be terrible alone. I tried alone for a while and ended up asking for help getting it pushed into the car. Wishing you luck man I'm sure you'll get it!
You are a beast. Best WRX channel 🔥💪
Thank you!
Glad to see you got it back on the road.
Wish i lived near you , would love to get together to help you for the experience , trade help and to build a beast, great video
great vid when you're undoing those struts though I would put something underneath the arms so they don't drop like that. i've never had it happen on my wrx, but I did that once on my civic si and popped the cv out of it's inner joint. if that happens you have to do either A) rebuild the cv or B) (the easier option) buy a new axle. really can't knock you for it much though, this is a hell of a video you put together
I usually grab a hold of it and don't let it drop or keep a jack under it but I was really rushing this swap since I only had about an hour per day to work on it and new I was replacing all 4 axles anyways.
@@StreetInspired1 lol doih, i forgot you had to replace the axles anyways...nice vid tho bro
This was an awesome video. Dang good video. And thanks especially for the detailed info on the mistakes made because a lot of times that's the most important stuff. I'm looking at this swap myself as my next big project.
10:46 The old diff is an R160 type (means the ring gear is 160mm), the new on is an R180. This is the reason different axle are needed. In truth, that's not precisely the reason. Theoretically it's perfectly possible to have an R180 LSD (since the diameter of the LSD is what determines the diameter of the ring gear) with 25 splines, but that's just not the way they're manufactures. As a result, the 180mm ring gear is implicitly the reason a 27 spline axle is required.
And when you change the axle spline count from 25 to 27, you also need new hubs.
I'm not sure about your year, but in the case of the GC8s, a 27 spline hub is available on the 2004 STI AND should press into the GC8 axle housing without issue, enabling a conversion of a 98-01 2.5RS coupe to a Type R(A) R180 drive train (I don't know for certain yet. It's one of the paths I'm looking to explore. The other option is to either replace the axle housing entirely or build a custom axel with an R180 diff/DOJ 27 spline and an R160 25 spline on the ball joint side to enable insertion into the 25 spline hub)
Saving this video. What’s the cost typically for this swap? I’m making numbers now that my transmission won’t be happy with lol
He mentioned that around the @16:15 mark
@@tannerl2971 I’ll rewatch it around there. I was watching and had my wife talking to me at the same time
I feel this comment 😂 my wife won't talk to me all day and the minute I try to do something on my phone she starts telling me hour long stories about work lol
@@StreetInspired1 Yeah man it’s tough lol. At the moment my turbo has been on my garage floor for 4 days, started putting the Grimmspeed header in and she suddenly made plans for us to go here do this do that, I literally just wanna put my car back together 🥲😂
Great video on the STI swap, this will help me not make those same mistakes. Glad it all worked out. One question, the trans carrier you used was the wrx or sti carrier? How did you sort the exhaust mount situation for the wrx exhaust?
I used the wrx carrier and as of now I don't have an exhaust mount. So far it seems fine but I'm sure it's extra stress on it do I'm hoping to come up with a solution soon!
@@StreetInspired1 It works fine without the exhaust mount but its a PITA to line up and bolt up the mid pipe. i had to use a jack to get the midpipe in place. I believe that mount is mostly just to help get the exhaust in the correct position and line everything up. You can use the Stock Exhaust mount, hammer it flat and drill a new hole where it lines up. There is a similar bolt you can use on the left side STI Transmission for the mount.
can u install a sti trans and/or driveline in a 22 wrx?
I'm definitely curious about this as well
Pulling out popcorn for this video.
Its about the journey bro
What model is the transmission? and what is the Iwire SKU? Great job!! it looks very clean i'm thinking of doing the same
The transmission is "TY856UW6AB" And iwire kit sku is "FA-STi-Swap"
It’s people like you that make me confident I can do this in my garage one day, thanks for the tips!
It looked like it in the video, but were you able to use the WRX hubs with the STI axles?
No problem! Yeah, they sent me sti hubs but I reused my wrx hubs and I looked on the forums and verified that they do work.
Awesome vid tons of valuable info that’ll no doubt save someone a few headaches
That’s awesome man! Glad you got it done congratulations that power you got going to them wheels will be controlled a lot better now with that swap
Glad you was able to get it swapped and successfully running well again man 👍
Yo, your subie is such good looking man, i would put in the perfect looks "folder"
Fantastic video. What kind of mpg are you getting after the swap?
Thank you! Haven't seen any noticeable difference yet. I was told I would get slightly less mpg but it seems the same haha
For all the people watching this, consider how much more he paid for the swap rather than just buying an STI!
did you put in new WRX Clutch and flywheel or Sti clutch and flywheel?
You literally have a faster STI now. FA motor. With the STI Diffs
Thanks for documenting this, not many good vids out on the swap. Was thinking about upgrading to the STi transmission in the future but probably going to push it off considering the price lol for some reason I thought it was 4-5k not 6-8k
I've seen the swap sold locally for 4-5k depending on mileage. But I feel like with everything else prices just keep going up
Damn wondering what would be pricier: this or putting an FA into a STi.
@@xil3ntkha0s probably much more expensive. The sti still uses hydronic power steering while the wrx is electric. The sti has a completely different fueling system and everthing so it would be a full ecu swap the whole 9 haha. But it would be cool to see someone do it just for the fun of it haha
@@StreetInspired1 for rich people with a lot of time on their hands 😂
@@xil3ntkha0s right 😂 if I ever see anyone do it I'll be sure to watch! Haha
Glad it worked out for you sir!

Is it possible to swap a 2015+ sti transmission and motor into a 2015+ wrx I have been looking for an Sti with a blown motor and found one for about 10k with 170k on it but has a blown tranny , for the same price I’ve been seeing 90k mile wrxs and was wondering if I could use that as a base if I’m going to replace the transmission anyways
Can you use a 2007 trans? Buddy of mine is willing to give me his 07 for free. I was planning on rebuilding the gears anyways.
First things first. how many man hours please and thank you
I would say I spent roughly 15-20 hours on it. If I didn't have to remove the transmission 4 times or film it probably would have been around 8-12
Did you have to do any clutch pedal adjustments or any kind of adjustments on the clutch? I’m having an issue where my clutch won’t disengage allowing me to not shift into gear while running.
I didn't adjust my clutch at all however with this setup the clutch pedal didn't have much give and was right st the floor. I'd you're having trouble you may need to adjust your clutch pedal. But before you do that you could check to make sure your slave cylinder is functioning properly by having someone push your clutch pedal down and make sure the slave cylinder is pushing the clutch fork. It could be a few things, a bad slave cylinder, a bad master cylinder, air in the clutch line, or the clutch pedal itself needs adjusted. I would start with the adjustment as that's the Free option and see if that fixes it!
Earned another subscriber, good vid 👍
Looking to do this on my car soon. Do you need the STI center console or will the shifter be fine in the WRX one?
The sti shifter works fine with the wrx consol! I did end up putting thr sti one in just because it looks nicer and I could use the dccd switches once I got my iwire dccd spider kit. But thr wrx consol will be just fine!
@@StreetInspired1 thanks for the reply man!
How much WHP can your new STI transmission handle?
There's no real solid answer to that but some people claim it will hold up to 700whp. Others have been sening 1000hp through them without issues. It depends I guess haha
@@StreetInspired1 Wow 700WHP! Amazing! What was the cost of all your parts? and did you get the transmission used? if so what year will go with the WRX 2015+?
@@tylerwells8875 everything including a new clutch and Flywheel was about $7,200 I got it used but I'm pretty sure any 08+ sti transmission will fit. I went with a 2020 which has beefier carbon syncros
Thanks for this as usual padnuh
do you think this swap would be possible for a 2018 forester xt? They have the same fa20f as the wrx so I'm assuming its similar to the 2000's foresters where most parts where interchangeable with sti's/wrx's.
How to STI swap a 2015+ WRX.
Trade it in, purchase STI.
Hmmm. Let me sell my wrx with a broken transmission and fork out $20k to trade in my car for an sti and then drop another $10k to get the 25 year old EJ to makes the same power as this car lol
great vid! cant wait to do to this swap in the future
Does anyone know where I can buy all this together in a kit online from a reputable seller to avoid buying privately off Facebook or Craigslist if possible?
Did you do the wrx transmission??
Now in going to have to get out on the street to sale my body to get the money up to do the same swap. Lol
Been thinking about sti tranny swap for my 2018 wrx. Thanks for the information
This should’ve been a shared component between the WRX and STi. Good to see you got everything up and running again. I guess since it’s STi tranny swapped it’s a WRX S? 🤣
I agree. It should've been "do you want the sti transmission but don't want a 25 year old engine? Here's a fa20 wrx that has the sti transmission" lol
@@StreetInspired1 pretty much man the FA was the main reason I went with the WRX over the STi even though I knew the STi was the "better" option
@@xil3ntkha0s same here! If the sti would've had the fa20 or fa24 when I got my wrx I would've forked over more money and just got the sti. But I didn't want the dinosaur engine lol
Finished paying off my 2019 Wrx now going for power mods does it make sense to trade up for an Sti? 27k trade in for 43 to 46k Otd after taxes seems like a waste considering it’ll be 16-19k loan + mods and then the risk of the Ej blowing up. Feel like I’m better off doing the same and just swapping the transmission to the Wrx.
You're much better off keeping the wrx. Don't listen to the people in the comments saying to trade up for an sti. It just doesn't make financial sense. If your car is paid off I would never go back in debt for an sti I would just continue to build the wrx 🙂
I dunno if I’m gonna do this or just have my mechanic install a Cusco 1.5 with me. Did you blow the diff or the stock trans?
Blew the transmission. 17,000 miles. I haven't even heard of anyone breaking the rear diff on the VA wrx yet. The transmissions on these are awful.
did u need different bolts for the starter? saw a vid and they replaced it just wanna double check just ordered my swap
I used my oem wrx bolts. Maybe I was supposed to get longer ones but I haven't had any issues.
@@StreetInspired1 nice going with my og bolts thanks 👌
You now have a lighter faster STI. Get the DCCD installed
So my question is if you don't use DCCD Knob SI Drive Switch but you put in the STI center console. Is there like a change holder or a cup or a lid that I can get from someone to cover that pocket up?
I belive there is a company that makes them but I can't remember off the top of my head. But it removes the entire control panel (SI knob & diff control)
@@StreetInspired1 Thank you. If you ever remember give me a heads up
I gotta ask. I am running WRX front axles on my 2018 WRX with the STI transmission swap. So if I order 2015+ STI front axles they will fit without placing the hubs or other parts?
They should. I retained my stock wrx hubs and didn't use any of the hubs they sent with the swap!
How much $$ to put STI trans into a '16 WRX? WRX trans is glass, like mine
It's really going to depend on where you get it and how many miles are on the swap. I typically see them go for between $6k-$8k
Can I remove the engine & trans in one piece from the top?
Honestly I haven't tried but ive pulled the motor out from the front and there was tons of room. with the right engine crane and angle I thinks it's definitely do-able!
Me With a stock Legacy wondering if i can do this.
how heavy is the wrx transmission? is a transmission jack needed or can you muscle it out without one?
I'm not entirely sure. I can lift it when its on the gorund but not sure about bench pressing it. I Would recommend atleast a standard floor jack unless you've got some muscle haha the sti transmission is definitely much heavier though. I had 3 people under thr car helping to push that one in lol
are you able to do a sti motor with wrx transmission?
Very great thanks
Clean swap i would do for my 2020 wrx
Awesome video!
Great video👍👍👍
are you a qualified mechanic?
Hell no haha just a backyard mechanic. Just taught myself by working on my own cars for the last 10 years.
What type of iwire do I need for the sti swap
I'm curious if the sti drivetrain swap will fit my 6mt crosstrek (jdm version of the xv), does anyone knows??
I have a feeling a lot of it will be the same but I can't co firm. Me and my wife had a crosstrek and it was basically a non Turbod lifted wrx haha.
@@StreetInspired1 actually now i'm running a wrx clutch, radiator and many more parts jajajaja, should be similar
Did you have to do anything with the ecu?
No, but I had to have my tuner update my tune for the correct gears to display on the dash and change the rpm range but he didn't have to retune the car, just a quick change and sent it over
This looks like one major pain in the ass. Getting this done at the dealer has got to be tens of thousands just for the labor.
Nice
Can we get a pov driving vid of it
I plan on doing some review/driving videos but I'm trying to sort out some issues I'm having currently to make sure everything is good first
STI flywheel/clutch is needed for this?
Yep you'll need the sti clutch, flywheel, starter, and slave cylinder
Next from cvt to manual transmission 😂
Is it possible?
Where did you purchase the parts for this swap?
Everything was purchased on ebay from this seller. www.ebay.com/str/taeusedautoparts?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Whi1CthSTae&sssrc=3418065&ssuid=7wXLOJ3_RUW&widget_ver=artemis&media=SMS
Ain’t this just a sti drivetrain swap? Not engine?
Precisely. I don't know anyone who would swap the EJ25 into a FA20 WRX lol
Why when you can just get STI?
Because I already have the wrx. Broke the transmission. Makes more sense to upgrade the transmission than to sell the car and spend another $15,000-$20,000 to get an sti and get it to the same power level as this car.
What type of oil you used for the trans and diff
MOTUL Gear 300. Preparing to change it out though because my basically brand new sti transmission has the notorious gear grind, so I'm going to try using redline shockproof mixed with gear300
@@StreetInspired1 same oil with the diff?
@@imch23 Yep! The rear diff seams fine with the gear 300 though!
@@StreetInspired1 thanks
Is it the same for the wrx
Not sure if I understand what youre asking. Are you asking if the procedure is the same for swapping the wrx transmission with another wrx transmission?
good job but still by VIN it is a WRX
Never said it was an STI? Lol
Can CVT convert to STI 6speed?
You can convert it but it's quite a lot of work. Will involve cutting holes in firewall from master cylinder and installing clutch pedal, computer, etc. Most people end up selling their auto for a manual rather than convert. It really depends how attached you are to the car. I know people who have swapped autos to manual on older cars that are hard to find but these cars are everywhere
If I can get the WRX manual transmission as what u swap out, is there have a ECU for transmission right?
Do I need to get the main ECU of the car so I can just Plug n play to convert my CVT to manual?
That’s the price of a stage 3 iag block
I know, it sucks. But my tasnmission was blown and If I did an IAG stage 3 block and made enough power to actually use it I would probably quickly go through the replacement transmission if I got another wrx trans.
Would cost less just to trade it in for an STI
Hmmm. Let's do math.
New wrx transmission to replace broken one: - $3,000
Trade in 2020 wrx: Get +$30,000
Buy 2020 sti: -$43,000
.......................................................
TOTAL COST -$16,000
Add mods to sti to get it to the same power as my current wrx: $6,000-10,000
NEW TOTAL COST: -$22,000-26,000
Cost of entire 2020 sti drivetrain swap and new clutch: -$7,000
Total difference to trade in to buy same year sti with similar mileage instead of buying the swap: -$15,000-19,000.
So I saved $15-19k by swapping arguably the most important part of the sti into my wrx.
@@StreetInspired1 Nah, that’s dumb.
@@richardburns9772 it's dumb but it's true...
@@StreetInspired1 Quite true, but a little exaggerated. Definitely not cheaper with a 2020 WRX. On an older like 2015 it's usually not much cheaper. I spent around 1k on my Brembo swap. I really like the Stock block FA20 and believe its a much superior engine.
How to STI swap your 15 WRX: sell your WRX then go buy an STI. Done and easy. But why though? The WRX has a better 0-60 and quarter mile.
I wouldnt give that credit to the transmission 100% The wrx has a twin scroll turbo that spools instantly. That really helps the 0-60 times. But it's a very common swap. Wrx transmission can barely handle the factory horsepower, as soon as your start modding most people have issues with it, such as myself. And rather than spend $2-3k replacing it with another split case wrx transmission that will blow again in another 10-20,000 miles I went with the sti drivetrain swap for $6k. The sti transmission has been supporting 700-1,000hp cars for years. And I got a 2020 sti transmission so it's even stronger because in 2019 they switched to beefier carbon synchros. My hope is that this drivetrain will support any future engine build I go with.
@@StreetInspired1 fair enough. To each their own. If you plan on making higher than stock power I can see why you would want to do this but again it’s alot of work when you could just buy an unmolested STI. Overall great vid man and I hope you have a nice Christmas.
@@Blue_Ghost-X Thanks man, you do the same!
Why would anyone go through this just buy a sti from get go or sell the wrx and upgrade imo
Because buying a new wrx transmission for $2-4k to replace my broken one. And selling the wrx to get an sti would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $15k-20k. The sti. And then it would cost another $10-15k to get the sti making the same power as my wrx. Just seems really stupid. I'd much rather keep the car and make it better. We live in a throwaway society where everyone says "this car isn't as fast, or this car broke" and they sell it to buy something else. I'd rather keep this car and make it better and better.
Why not just buy an STI right off the bat? smh
Because not everyone wants an sti. Because I bought my wrx with recaro seats and brembo brakes for $8k less than the base STI. Even with the sti swap and all the money I have into performance mods I now have the most important parts of the sti. The drivetrain, the brembos, and the recaros. At this point now yes, I could've bought a stock STI. But instead of having a modified 400whp car that gets 25mpg I would have a stock 260whp sti that gets 15mpg. No one plans on blowing up their transmission when they buy a car. So the more appealing option is the wrx. After the transmission explodes it makes the most sense to replace it with the sti transmission rather than replace it with another wrx transmission and then sell it for an STI. Good way to lose a boat load of money.
Have 30k
Just buy a STI.
Sure, let me just replace my broken transmission for $2k and then sell my wrx and buy an sti and lose $15-20k instead of getting the sti transmission for $6k 😂
Orrr orrr. Spend 6k more and get an STI! Save your money and stop wasting your time
I sort of partial to the FA Platform more than EJ. As far as I'm concerned I just made my dream setup.
If you can find 2021 still they are not 6k more than a Wrx base. My 2020 Wrx base was 27k my 2021 sti limited was 44k with a few options.
@@lucian7182 exactly. It's roughly $15-17k more for an sti not to mention everything that's done to this car would just be useless and a waste of money and then I would spend $10k on an sti to get it to where my wrx is right now lol
@@StreetInspired1This is how i felt. love the FA20 platform but just wanted everything else upgraded. Great Gas mileage too. I Just built the car how i wanted it. The only issue currently is the steering.... Maybe i can use the the new 2022 WRX electronic steering in my 2015 WRX.
Sti swap? Sti transmission swap. Not engine.
Correct. Most people who own a wrx call it an "sti swap"
:How to STI swap your 15-21 WRX...
:Trade it in for a 15-21 STI. Problem solved.
Might be the right move for some people but I don't have $15-20k to switch cars for a broken transmission.
