Finally a list of lesser known places in Osaka! Wished i had this last year because we only went to dontobori and was so bored 😅 Definitely will use this in the summer! Thanks!
Ya alot of people think Dotonbori is the only spot to see in Osaka. There is soo much more to check out though! If this video does well, I will definitely head back and visit more spots, as there were at least a few dozen things I have on my list that I didn't have time for!
Thanks man appreciate your kind words as always! Shame what happened with Alabama against Michigan, but hey next year the Dawgs and Bama will face off at the championship!
Thanks for all the great videos! We’re getting ready to go next month, April to Osaka, Tokyo and Kyoto. And find all of your videos very helpful! I noticed that at your background you have some animes on the shelf! My boys and I are into Anime!! Wondering if you could tell me where to find an inexpensive Hachinage head band. Would greatly appreciate it if you could direct me to the right place! 🥰
Thanks! I left Osaka feeling like I didn't do enough, and this really captures the kinds of things I want to do. I almost want to use this as my Osaka itinerary whenever I return.
We did many of those on our recent trip, but you've listed some extras for our next trip. It was cool to meet you both at the aquarium! Keep up the destination type content!
Glad I could provide a few extra spots! I also have quite a few more that couldn't quite make this list, so don't worry I think I have many more new hidden things in Osaka you'll like to check out ;)
Excellent highlights including the food so important 😊might give Osaka another go at some stage, just remembering the good places I enjoyed like Osaka Castle, Abeno Harukas ,Tennoji Park , Shinsekai , Umeda Skybuilding , I love Osaka Station itself ! Nakanoshima Rose Garden on the river was beautiful, and clean, I also remember some parts of Osaka being dirty , rubbish on floor ,but that's Osaka
Hi Harb! Great tips, as usual! Just adding my 2 cents: 1) A visit to Osaka Castle is a must. Be prepared for a good walk though, since it's a ways away from the park area; well worth the trek though. Also, if you plan on going inside the castle for the tour, wait times can get as long as an hour to get in with the tour being around 45 minutes, so plan your time accordingly. 2) A walk around Den Den Town is a must for the anime crowd. Make a point to visit an Animate and a Taito arcade. Be mentally prepared to walk away from the UFO catcher machines; those figurines or merch can drain your coin reserves quickly. 3) I had the best ramen of my life in a little mom-n-pop on Dotonbori. Cheap and absolutely delicious. 4) No visit to Dotonbori is complete without a selfie with the legendary Glico Running Man sign. Just walk around the pier and you'll spot it, very hard to miss. 5) Since you're in the area, make sure to visit the Donkii (Don Quijote) store. This was my first visit to a Donkii and boy was it an eye-opening experience. 6) If you're staying for more than a day, visit Sumiyoshi-Taisha and Shitenno-ji. Added bonus, on Sundays there's sometimes an open air bazaar at Shintenno-ji. I managed to score some nice books and anime figurines at amazing prices. Cheers!
Were the tank sizes humane? I'm always hesitant to check out any sort of zoo / aquarium / animal experience in Japan due to their track record for animal wellbeing.
@@Omni0404 well, i don't go to attractions like this and don't support it that way.. :) i always hope some people finally get it when they get informed bout it.. but i think it doesn't help lol anyways.. it's not in question if it's humane.. would you want to be locked up in a jail where you are an attraction?
I heard that Osaka will be hosting the World Expo 2025. I am planning to visit Osaka for the first time, and also the World Expo. Please post information regarding the World Expo 2025 when the time comes. Your Vlogs are super AWESOME! Thank you very much for your hard work and please keep up your great work on your Japan Vlog channel.👏👏👏👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
Thanks Alex for this great video. For some reason, I am so far not a big fan of Osaka (even though I really enjoyed visiting the castle, Dodonburi, the huge Don Quijote there and the aquarium). After seeing this video, I would like to give Osaka another try on my next trip to Japan, to visit teamLab Botanical garden, the market, and some yokochos (which I love in Tokyo). And maybe also Korea town, because I really like Shin Okobo in Tokyo (and korean food). My favorite food in Osaka is Takoyaki.
hi! your video is a great help. ive been to osaka 3x already and will be my 4th this sept. but never been to yokochos!!! if you have any other places where i can bring my friends pls advise. thank you.
Great video and recommendations. Osaka is enjoyable but I use it has a hub for day trips to Nara and Kobe when I visit. Used to be Kyoto but it has become an so so place. We find the teamLab botanical garden underwhelming as having winter illumination around the city made the attraction less special because it's just lights.
hi, I am lucky to get through your videos on TH-cam. I will be visiting Osaka next year March 2025 around 5 march to 11 March. I just bought a coat for this trip. Is it enough or more than enough?
I also recommend torame yokocho. I am suptised you didn't show misono building bars basically right next door...that place filled with little wierd bars (and not so weird).
Hey mate, what camera have you used here? planning to save one for our travel to japan. Mostly taking videos and photos with the family. I guess my iphone will do however I will be using that for maps and google translate hehe
hmmm .... I think Nakanoshima Museum of Art is extremely good. Osaka Castle has been destroyed so many times so it is kind of boring but if you use the stairs at nearby history museum there are really good views of it. Tsuyunoten Shrine is so tiny but so culturally important ... to me it's a sad place but young lovers always go here ...
Hello all! I was wondering if it is practical to do day trips to Osaka from Kyoto? Meaning, if my wife and I had the appropriate rail cards and used the right transportation methods would it then be practical to stay in a hotel in Kyoto and train to Osaka for a couple of day trips? Thank you for your time!
This my 1st time going to Osaka together with my son on the coming June. Will like ti know what travel card I need to travel around Osaka? There are so many different train companies. Can one can use on all the different trains and buses? Which card do I need?
Is there many diecast model car collecting shops in Osaka? I know there should be loads but I'm finding it difficult to locate them or make a map for them.
I have a question that I hope that you can help me with? Back in 1972 my family and I was living at 2-1-21 Suehiro Cho Toyonaka Chi. Are you able to let me know if this mall is still available I remember going underground to the mall and there was a lift behind this water fall. I remember there was a German restaurant called The Rosenkeller. Unfortunately I can’t remember anymore I was only seven at the time. I wish that I could remember the name of the mall.
ya japan likes to do that unfortunately lol. They are always opening and closing places which can make it difficult for my videos to stay current. Looks like I will just have to go back to Osaka!
I’m so excited, we went for our first time last year for our honeymoon. We fell in love with the country and are going back this year
What an amazing video. You are amazing thank you x

Thank you for this informative video. It helps in planning our Osaka trip soon.
Been to Tokyo Kyoto and Hiroshima going to Osaka in may . CAN'T WAIT !!!!!

I knew there was a new video out somehow, I look and there it is omg 😮

@@harblife just saw messages this morning after checking for new video 😄 psychic I guess 😆

Hey a new Harb life video! How was your holiday?
Well I did Tokyo and Hakone in February I truly can’t wait for Osaka and Kyoto In October
Unique btw, hidden gems btw, off the beaten path btw…

Cool blog thankyou. What is the name of the street near dotonbori where all the food kitchenware shops are pls?
We went to the Osaka aquariam, the whale shark was amazing to see in person. Id love to go again with the kids

Where is the best place to stay in Osaka that is quiet and also not too far from Dotonbori?
Is a yen note still okay to be used if it gets wet?
Is it easy to get to osaka from shibuya?
Is there many diecast model car collecting shops in Osaka?
I know there should be loads but I'm finding it difficult to locate them or make a map for them.
One of best things to do in Osaka is join a meetup. There’s locals who love meeting and speaking English with foreigners.
How do I find meet-ups?
How
I heard they make you wear a hat that says Buki

I needed this video. So far my reasons for not going to Osaka are: I don't like seafood. Not the best reason to avoid a city...
Fair enough, but I think it should still be visited even if you have to eat something else
What's the best way to get to Osaka from Tokyo?
Just be avare that he shows you the best picture possible, and, it is not so exciting at the real place ;)

Are there the same risks/scams in Osaka as in Tokyo to look out for?

Umm it's Kai- yu- kan, not Kai- ku- yan.. Sorry 🙏
Oh darn it. Proofreading could have been my friend here. Thanks for the correction!
kaiyukan not kaikuyan

I really don’t get why people always recommend animal spots like fish tanks, pet zoo… it’s just not contemporary these days and honestly never been
thx
According to Google Maps, Uranamba Torame Yokocho is now permanently closed 😢
