As a voting American / Australian, i dont mind at all that Biden has been stingy with the press interviews. He's been getting stuff done, and current day press interviews or White House Press corp events are NOT as infirmative or easy to listen to as they were "before TFG". There is shouting and accusations and just plain attention whoring completely drowning out what could be a useful information exchange. I LIKE that he's just getting stuff done and anyone paying attention knows what is going on. Your 2 examples were a bit cringeworthy, but i'm thinking thats why you picked them. So while we are staring down the gullet of a potential return of TFG i'm just going to appreciate the vibe of some solid getting stuff done and hope for a Blue landslide.

The last Trump/Biden debate was pretty messy. Trump wanted to own the room by constant interruptions whilst Biden was speaking. I can't imagine he'll back off next time.

Menthol cigarettes are slightly more damaging in terms of exposure, as far as I know, but only slightly. The difference in damage is due to usage patterns (breathing deeper, as mentioned on the show, and smoking more of them). I think you could justify a health intervention with cigarettes, however targeting menthol cigarettes is essentially targeting the most enjoyable type of cigarettes (for those that enjoy menthols). A compromise to a ban would be a tax (or a rate limit like 1 menthol pack a month, though this would have weak compliance in general and difficulty being enforced). However there'd likely be heavy pushback against tax introduction since it would open the door for future tobacco taxes/

The Menthol Cigarettes interview was very interesting. The speaker very deftly spoke about racism in cigarettes and spoke in a way that brings ignorant people along beautifully
She didn't even answer the question as to why menthols are popular among black smokers. She just asserted the question was racist. She's supposed to be an expert and can't answer one of the most obvious question about the topic she claims to have expertise in.
Net neutrality is terrible for large social media companies, great for small internet sites though.

I don't understand your surprise about Trump saying something humorous? 🤔 Extremely bizarre comment because the guy's always been known for having a great sense of humour, in fact it's one of his defining personality traits and one of the only good things I can say about him. Makes it hard to trust your opinion reporting altogether when you don't even know the first thing about the presidential nominee and most talked about person in the world currently

Our current tobacco policy is prohibition via a consumption tax, which has resulted in the advent of chop chop and violent gang crime over a newly established black market. It's an absolute shitshow
