In her life as well, she's kind of considered a recluse, even more so than someone like Tracy Chapman is. She just doesn't care much for the limelight, she does her job, goes back home and focuses on her family. Gotta respect it. She holds true to her values.

Is there any guy out there that this song doesn't bring back memories of a lost love or a love that could've been? It sure does for me. I loved her. "I think it's strange you never knew" I eventually said almost just about word for word to her. I waited so damn long, I was deep in the 'friend zone'. She eventually married the wrong guy and got divorced.
This was 30 years ago, and yup - she still crosses my mind from time to time.
A word to young guys - If you find her, and you KNOW - don't wait. Get up the balls and go for it.

rip David Roback (liked him since The Rain Parade , Opal, Clay Allison, and of course Mazzy Star.). I notice on this thread people are recommending tracks from later in their career . But from the first album ( She hangs Brightly 1990) "Ghost Highway " is brilliant .
ps Hope Sandoval has never been happy on stage. She is incredibly shy. Sadly I saw her walk off stage around 15 mins into a gig in the mid 1990's in England (Birmingham) . I was near to the front of the stage so had heard her say a few mins into the gig "you are so demanding " (respectful was the reality) . Then off she went a few mins later. They started with this beautiful track so at least I heard the track I wanted .
David also worked in Opal with Kendra Smith who was an early member of Dream Syndicate. After Kendra left he formed Mazzy Star with Hope S.
A great loss to music . he should be better known . Hope has continued as a solo artist.

@@abracadabra3033 A little background: the band started out as Opal with a different singer, Kendra Smith, who also played bass. They put out 2 albums until Smith left for a solo career. When Hope Sandoval joined, they changed the band name but not the style of the music, which was moody and spooky-groovy. Hope has since gone on to record three solo albums with Kevin Shields, the guitarist from another spooky band My Bloody Valentine. But Mazzy Star is still together and recently put out a 7-inch vinyl single with two great new songs.

Late at night with Hope having her hair covering most of her pretty face. I thought pretty much the same as you, "enchanting". Loved Mazzy Star ever since as well as Hope´s solo project Hope Sandoval & the warm inventions. Unfortunately Mazzy Star´s guitarist Dave Brubeck died a few months ago. I was like 19-20 at the time. I remember them but I was into upbeat type of music. Looking back now you kinda appreciate it. They completely went under the radar after this. Alanis morissette, Radiohead, no doubt, 4 non blondes etc.. that was about the same era. Mid 90s-2000s.

Super surprised you did this. They were part of the shoe gazing movement, fuzzy guitar, etc. Hope one of the best voices, and the song, iconic. How did you get this song to review? Hell, you need to start doing then the SMITHS, Depeche Mode, NEW ORDER, the CURE.....

Yess Angela!! I totally agree with you about his voice!! I've already told Abra that he's got the most extremely Soothing voice I've ever heard!! I love listening to his voice talkin' just as much as I enjoy the music!! & That's sayin ALOT, coz I am a hard-core music Lover!!! I even told him that he could read the phone book to me & it'd probably be one of the best things I ever heard! LMFAO!!😂😋💓 Good god, abra, you need to get your voice recorded, brotha, reading something beautiful for a couple hours or so onto CDs & sell em here off your channel & make some green, to buy some green, hunny!!🤣 I'd be the first in line to buy one!! Bet Angela might be 2nd!!! 😊💓😊 Just sayin

Also, I got to stand about 9 feet from her in 2009 with her other band for about an hour and a half and her boyfriend (and drummer) got me her's and the rest of the band's autograph on a special Taiwanese 2 CD copy of Bavarian Fruit Bread. She look pretty much the same at 41 as she did in the older video you just reacted to; I was crushing big-time on her at the concert.

Great review man! This song is a great way to relax at the end of a hard day and fall off to sleep 😴. Your comment saying I can listen to her forever is perfectly said. Mazzy Star is the group and Hope Sandavol is the lead singers name. And you’ll listen her more often then you think from now on lol 😂
