    Thanks for sharing. Your videos have some of the best info and tips about driving on the NC beaches. We'll be down there next week and plan to drive our Subaru Forester on the beach for the first time. I already have my tire gauge and portable air compressor in the back. Lol. Our plan is to take a horse tour first and then decide if I'll be brave enough to drive the Forester out there.

      Just make sure you lower that tire pressure! That is the most important think you can do! We see lots of Foresters on the beach.

    This is a great video! The only thing is it showed people standing up in a topless Jeep and we got pulled for that and told it was illegal and they could’ve wrote us a ticket but spared us! We’ve been going for over 35 years, and never realized this! Lol

      @@alex3366 Went smoothly with a Ford Expedition - air down the tires at the Twiddy office, they have an air station and they have guys that did it for me. Huge help
      I kept the tires at low pressure for trips to the grocery store, aired back up at the Twiddy office on the last day out

    People keep asking about 4wd vs awd. 4wd vehicles usually have at least the rear differential to where it can lock up. Awd vehicles MOSTLY don't have any sort of locking differentials, so that is why awd isn't neccessary recommended. 4wd/awd is power distribution front to back, but your differentials distribute power side to side per axle.

    • @fordlover3293
      @fordlover3293 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      4wd you can select 2wd or 4wd. Awd means it's always sending power to all wheels. A lot of 4wds have open differentials.

    Can you update with information about where to air back up? First timers or folks not from the Northern beaches may not know this.

    • @hidinfrombiden1734
      @hidinfrombiden1734 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @martelvonc most people that make these trips carry a portable air compressor so they can air up wherever/whenever. I'd imagine the lines & wait times would get pretty crazy around public accessible air stations😅.

    I run my truck out to point on 13psi... Have had the rear tires down to 10psi ... Zero issues. 10ply are stiffer sidewall tires and require more air reduced to get bulge. Air pressure is night and day difference

    • @fike301
      @fike301 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 18 to 20 psi is more for all season stock 4ply tires.... More aggressive tread more plys... Work better in the sand lower psi and will not come off rim at 10psi driving beach sensible

    Can someone give more context to the 2.5 area over Swan Beach? (Timestamp 1:55). What is difference about Swan Beach?

    • @twiddyobx
      @twiddyobx  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Edward is referring to an area between where parking begins (roughly around MP 14) to the north end of Swan Beach (MP 17) where there is a restriction on the driving pattern from 9 AM the Friday before Memorial Day until 5 PM on Labor Day where traffic must drive closer to the dune line and cannot be drive on the Foreshore ( the area cleared by the last high tide) between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM. Hope this helps!

    That is at Buxton North Carolina I fished there before but we had a four-wheel drive to go out there I'm not able to pull a wagon that far but I wanted to go out there in a couple weeks that's when we had a lot of good luck from Kitty Hawk all the way down two bucks a lot of trout and a lot of drum I love them both to eat and I thought about coming if I can bring my six wheeler and be able to take it out there

      Our video is actually shot in the 4x4 beaches north of Corolla. We love Buxton too, so you should check out Corolla/4x4 one of these times!

    Is there a place to put air back in your tires when you go to leave, or do I need to bring an air compressor/ air tank?

    • @twiddyobx
      @twiddyobx  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have an air station available for our guests, located at our Corolla office. Additionally, Currituck County also maintains a free air station located at Currituck Heritage Park.

    Do the vehicles have access to the entire beach or do they have to stay up high? I don't feel like laying in the sand with a F150 running 2" behind my head.

    I'm curious if you have seen any cybertrucks get stuck on the beach yet?

    • @twiddyobx
      @twiddyobx  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We've seen quite a few Cybertrucks on the beach this summer but we haven't seen one stuck yet. All makes and models of vehicles can get stuck if the tires are not aired down appropriately so we expect we will see one stuck at some point. Air down and cruise easy!

    Is it possible to drive along the beach down from Virginia Beach?

    • @twiddyobx

      It is possible, but only for a few long time residents that were living in the area before access through Virginia was restricted in 1972.

      Hi There! We see a lot of Foresters on the beach here. The older ones are a little lower to the ground but don't typically see them having many issues. Make sure you drop that tire pressure down to 15psi!
