OK I loved the music in the video! Had such a fun 80s vibe! 🎶🎵 these videos are always helpful! Finally got my soil tested and found out I have the opposite problem! My soul ph is super low and everything else was too high and causes short plants! I liked that my age center made recommendations on how to improve my soil going forward. Here's to no more short plants! I hope... 🙏

Just plant some type of hydrangea that the blooms change color and you'll find out what type of soil you have pretty quick. I bought a blue endless summer hydrangea and in about 2 weeks the flowers turned purple and then pink. I have high alkaline soil 😄

A simple reminder I've learned is that the X - X - X = in growth terms: UP (height) - Down (roots) - All Around (ground area). The higher the percentage, the more fertilizer ingredients you get. Some plants don't require extra as Laura has mentioned. Thanks for sharing. You're the best.

I notice that a few of the “Tone” fertilizers are exactly the same (Berry, Holly and Azalea for example) which makes me wonder why Espoma just doesn’t sell all of these under one “Tone” name. I think it would less confusing for the average consumer that may not take the time to compare them all, or buys one of each if they are growing all of these type of plants. Thanks

You should use a bird food funnel to get the Flower Tone into your summer containers after they get huge. It would work perfect. Love you guys! Zone 8a - Alabama

  • @OMGitsaClaire

In North Alabama where I’m from, our soil tends to be very acidic and people will and do use lime, especially on their lawns. Bermuda grass, one of the common lawn grasses in the South, loves lime so much it will try to eat your concrete driveway and sidewalks. My dad used to joke that to get the perfect Bermuda lawn, you would need alternating strips of dirt and concrete!

I never knew Potash was Potassium, good to know what those numbers mean and what they do. Hey, a funnel used for oil in a car would be great for applying stuff directly to the dirt since it has a longer tube portion. Great idea. FYI - I used flowertone in all my flower garden and pots last year and I think all of them looked better than ever. It was so nice not to have to mix up fertilizer every 10 days or so for all my pots. Not as many as you but I have about 20 big pots. I used Flowertone about three times during the summer.

Aaron - I live in Springfield, OR with acidic soil. I am not fond of trailer trash bright blue hydrangeas (bought at Fred Meyer end of year discount) so I used baking soda on the blue ones for two years. 1st year they turned purple, second year they turned bright pink. After the 1st two years haven't used anything to change the color and they have remained pink with a few having a purple tinge (going on 10 yrs now). LOVE LOVE LOVE your channel. Looking forward to seeing the montage of small greenhouses submitted by viewers and enjoying watching the new property development. : )

Hi Laura and Aaron. I've been using plant tone for a long time and my neighbor uses miracle grow and it seems to do well. Can you tell me anything about miracle grow? Miracle grow is not organic and eventually kills beneficials in your yard. Beneficials help keep it healthy so you actually have less pest and disease pressure.

I live in Virginia Beach, VA. I found your channel this year and have watched so many of your videos now and learned SO much about gardening from you. Not just specifics, but general techniques, how you do things, how you do things, etc. After watching this video I actually looked to see where I could get Bio Tone. I found it at the local Taylor's Do It Yourself hardware store. Home Depot and Lowe's didn't carry it. I now use it every time I plant a new flower, shrub, or tree. I am now looking for a place to purchase the Land & Sea compost. But so far, no luck. Thanks for all of your help!
