    Thank you Chris! A couple of weeks ago I finally purchased a 2012 Goldwing...level 2 with very low miles (12K). I immediately ordered this part. This video will help me do this job and connect many accessories! Thanks again!

    Outstanding demo video. It took what I thought was a complicated undertaking and made it so clear and simple. I'm book marking this link for sure.

    Wonderful detailed video CC, not sure what "HATER" stayed up late or got up early to thumbs down. This was so detailed and covered with such simplicity that you will give many new folks confidence to tackle this themselves. Well done sir! Much favor to you brother.

    Good demo. Hardest part is locating the appropriate wires on your bike to tap into - if you can't locate reliable info on the 'net you may have to buy a service manual for your bike which will have the wiring diagrams and will identify the wiring harnesses. If you have simple accessory requirements, you may be better off just buying an automotive relay and using in-line fuses for each accessory you add to your bike. On my FJR1300 I have a power mount for my Garmin GPS along with a generic USB connector for charging my phone. I didn't want to direct-wire these to the battery due to the risk of battery discharge caused by shorting or some joker coming along and plugging his phone into the USB on my parked bike. Both the GPS wiring harness and the USB wiring harness came with in-line fuses, so all I had to do was buy an automotive relay, tap the relay into a keyed circuit, connect the relay inputs to the battery, and connect the relay outputs to the USB/GPS wiring. I tapped into the auxiliary cigarette power outlet on by bike, but any circuit that is "hot" only when the engine is running will do. This solution is much cheaper, and in my opinion more robust than devices like the showchrome block because automotive relays are super-tough, reliable, plentiful and cheap. The onboard relays in the showchrome block are soldered to the circuit board - if you have a v-twin or similar bike that vibrates like a coin-op motel room bed the solder connections to the relays can break and you will need to repair them. Plus - replacing a failed relay on this thing might be close to impossible unless you can source the exact replacement part and you are really good with a soldering iron. In the unlikely event that an automotive relay blows - you just get another one for $10 or less at any auto supply shop and after 5 minutes of pulling the blown relay out and swapping the new one in you are on your way. My 2 cents.

    For me, this might be the most informative video you've put out to date! This really helped a lot - please excuse this novice question: in order to make the right, left, brake system work for the connected wires properly, do you source the power to the lines that have the right/left/brake lines powered to them? Where are those located on the bike? Thanks Chris.

    Excellent and very timely for me trying to connect Pathfinder cowl lights onto 2022 GL1800 through Show Chrome block kit 52-942. The G184XP harness doesn't work with models after 2020 and I need to know how this 'magic' box works to make proper connections without a lot of extra expense. Seems all light accessory outputs are 12v and all wires pre-attached to the block are 'trigger' [relay] inputs other than 2 battery connections. All remaining is to determine which cowl wires do what. But I remain curious about the purpose for capping trigger wires from the sub-harness.

    Chris, I bought the show chrome block and want to install power to a gps unit only. I have no other accessories. Do I need to install all the other wires to the brake lights, etc? Second, where do you install the yellow key wire to on the bike? Thanks for making this video!

  • @nickheinz3737

    Chris near end of video you talk about connecting accessories. Actually the trailer hitch wires are connected here. The wires on left of fuse block are spliced into the bikes wiring harness. Still a good video!

    • @chriscaliente5033
      @chriscaliente5033  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The trailer gets its power commands from the bike, so you could splice in to the bike wiring or the trailer wiring and get the same commands. It would be easier splicing into the trailer wiring, but everyone is not set up for a trailer, but yes you are also correct.

    Brake lights on trailer connect to left and right turn circuit
    ?

  • @dannywalker9926
    @dannywalker9926 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So where does this tie in on the bike for the switched wires …
    Also the box has four wires and a ground for the trailer and my trailer has only three wires and a ground.
    So how would one separate the turn signals from the brake lights…
    When I use either turn signal they both blink on the trailer, how can I correct that ??
    Thanks

    Overall a great video- well done but I am a bit slow getting things, you connected your (for instance) left turn cable from the fuse to a positive line- does it mean all those cables should be connected to the battery positive OR they should be connected on your motorbike's existing cables hot section ( i.e. brake should be connected to the existing brake hot wire, left turn should be connected to the existing left turn hot wire? )? If this is the case holly shit this is a lot of work lol ...Can anyone help??

    Nice video Chris, I've been wanting to buy a fuse block but was not sure how to hook it up. I fell a lil more confident now, but I have 1 question where would you recommend to tie into for yellow switch/remote on the goldwing or f6b is what I have.

    • @chriscaliente5033
      @chriscaliente5033  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The yellow wire is for a switch/remote which means when you turn on your ignition switch, power will turn that accessory on, therfore you can connect the yellow wire to one of the silver screw terminals inside the fuse box near the battery. One of the screws are negative ground and the other is Positive, connect the yellow wire to the Positive screw. That positive terminal screw is only 12 volt hot when you turn on the ignition switch.

      "Switch" means keyed power? You wouldn't want the turn signal on all the time into keyed power.

    I'm a little upset. I installed the fuse block today, only to find out that it's for a 5-pin wire harness. You don't have brake lights, if your trailer has a 4-pin flat system. Funny thing is that Show Chrome sells a 5-pin to 4-pin adapter for another $43.00. It looks like I either buy the adapter. or re-wire my trailer to 5 wires. I may just rewire the trailer, just so Show Chrome or Big Bike Parts doesn't get any more money from me.
