Simon Hanselmann Performs "Drone"

Simon Hanselmann is the cartoonist behind "Megahex," "One More Year," and all the other comic strips starring depressed witch Meg, her cat-boyfriend Mogg, their hapless housemate Owl, and their self-destructive buddy Werewolf Jones. I caught up with Hanselmann for a live performance of one of his strips, including musical accompaniment.

Simon Hanselmann is great, I love his dry sense of humor and understated charm. He seems truly comfortable with who he is, unlike the characters in his comics.

simon's said that he's had offers to make megg and mogg into a tv series, but he's not interested in it because the networks would have too much control over his work. and he's said that comics are a good medium by themselves too.

It’s funny I found the comic in the library as well but I read it young and didn’t understand what any of it meant. I thought it was about megg trying to find love and failing

I stumbled upon 'Crises Zone' at the public library, read it over the course of 2-3 days; just loved the bizzarro world and characters, the occasional horrifying yet poignant insights into the human condition. Bought the four previous books right after reading. Someone should adapt this series for TV, but honestly, I'm so happy as it is with these comics existing. Thank you, Simon!

WW Jones has redeeming qualities - it's just that he's written to not want to help himself. He's a really tragic character, and I think the decision to kill him off was impulsive and will constrain the comic when the time comes.
