Finally got mine loose after a few attempts. What a sweet feeling of victory! I got the Leap V2 for $20 bucks online, all it needed was the new cylinder :)
Wow good timing on the upload! I just got a pre-owned Leap, and the side-activated cylinder lever is kind of diagonal to the exterior lever. It works, but is super stiff, and upon inspection it is rubbing away some of the metal between the two surfaces. It's a struggle to turn the cylinder - do you have any tips for loosing it up at the mating surface enough to turn it a 1/16-/18 turn without scratching the cylinder shaft? Tried pipe wrench with duct tape on the jaws and no dice. Going to try tape on the cylinder shaft next.
You can definitely try some tape, it can be a big help, but the cylinders can be tough to remove sometimes, and it can be difficult to remove or turn the cylinder without leaving at least some minor scratches. Try to attach the pipe wrench as close to the mechanism as you can - with the scratches high up it will be less noticeable.

I took off the seat of my Leap and the level appears to be installed correctly however my chair is stuck in the lowest position. Any suggestions?

the replacement for this type of gas lift is basically impossible to source in Australia. Why the heck would they choose this design grrr
