Really fun, low-key video. This is the best time to be a gamer ever because it's so easy to play vast catalogues from the past. There is so much to play and videos like this can be a good reminder of a bunch of options to play. Good stuff.
Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time is one of the most underrated PS1 games. As an casual Looney Tunes fan, this surprised me how well the game is. Kinda reminds me of Toy Story 2 on PS1; which is also an solid game.
Just to note about Ghost in the Shell: there's three separate continuities (four if you count the manga, as none of the adaptations translate the manga 1:1 like most anime do, five if you count the live-action movie). 1) Movie continuity - Consists of the original 1995 movie and Innocence. 2) Stand Alone Complex - Originally consisted of one season, but it got a second season, 2nd GIG. Then got a movie sequel, Solid State Society. A few years ago, there was a revival called SAC_2045. This is what's essentially the "main" anime continuity for most folks, as the first two seasons aired on Adult Swim (who have permanent broadcast rights) back in the 00's. 3) Arise - Consists of four OVAs and a movie. Is technically a prequel, but not in continuity with either the original movies or SAC.
I honestly would love to see you do that Looney Tunes marathon you mentioned; if for no other reason than to have more people recognize the overlooked gem that is Sheep Raider (or Sheep, Dog, 'n Wolf if you're from the UK). No joke, that game is one of the most unique and fascinating licensed games ever made
Last year I played quite a few retro games. Played the first two DKC games, Luigi’s Mansion, Banjo Kazooie, and finally finished all the Mega Man Zero games. :)
Antdude, if you want to see a game that jumps massively in quality in a package of game 1 & 2, find the GBA combo pack for Legacy of Goku 1 & 2. Legit, Legacy of Goku 1 is considered one of the worst GBA games and Legacy of Goku 2 is considered one of the best GBA games. It's incredible how good 2 is. Just... if you want to play 1, remember the immortality glitch by flying and letting yourself get hit by a ki blast (flying again cancels it), it will save you a lot of trouble, and use guides as needed. 2 doesn't need any glitches as it's virtually the perfect DragonBall game for that style of Beat em Up RPG.
Oh hey, that person who just played Mega Man Battle Network 1 and assumed the rest of the series was that tedious... yeah that's me. Glad to hear it gets better because the combat is fun.
Oh if you enjoyed the combat especially, the rest of the series will be a treat for you. They're all miles better, so much more interesting with cool mechanics and transformations and stuff. Some even let you play as different characters, which makes the combat a lot different. Give it a chance, hopefully you'll enjoy them!
@@Tingletonttu Yeah no that's grossly overexaggerating it. BN2 has one day that is a lot of back and forth, and there is minimal backtracking otherwise. BN3 doesn't really have anything especially bad, the worst I can think of is day 13 and the ranked navi saga but that hardly counts. BN4 doesn't really have a lot of backtracking either, or BN5 for that matter. Like what games where YOU playing. Seriously what parts of the games have this supposed "constant backtracking".
Who the hell is saying the Battle Network series can be played in any order? Thats… blatantly false lol. There is a clear chronological order to the story that the games follow
Ghost in the Shell the manga from the early 90s, has just 1 volume, a side-story book and a sequel book; but the game and the original 95 movie both draw from the manga in different ways, which would probably make them feel incongruous with one-another. The film also has a sequel that breaks even further from the manga's story. The Stand Alone Complex series (2 seasons and a movie) is another whole different take on the story drawing from the manga in its own way, but is easily the most-complete-feeling version of the story, even compared to the manga. Everything that's come after that is yet another take but nothing has hit like SAC.
Among indies, highly recommend Copy Kitty. It's a 2d platformer that mixes heavy amounts of Kirby 64 copy powers, Gunstar Heroes, and Megaman. Very flashy, explosive, and fun with some great boss fights. Virtually unknown game that gets better the more time you put into it.
Ah, retro games. With the Wii U eshop closing last year, I had bought a lot of virtual console games on it, so I was playing quite a few of them. Though I did play other games too. Replayed Super Mario Advance 2, that was nostalgic. Continued trying out Metroid games, I really enjoyed Fusion and Super. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, still love that game. Actually tried out my first Smup with Lords of Thunder, that one was fun. Actually played all 3 crash n sane trilogy games, that was fun. Had that on my PS5 for a while, finally beat it I really need to get back to P4G and finish it. I’m in November. The original Devil May Cry, that was fun to go back to. I finally got through the original Kid Icarus games! Felt so good, and I had a lot of fun. Finally got to beating Spyro 3 from the reignited trilogy, after needing a break from beating 1 and 2 so close to each other. I still prefer 2, but 3 was a blast. I actually got a decent price on a copy of Pokémon Black, so I finally got to play through that classic. And quite a few others. Played more retro games than the actual new games that came out XD.
I had a lot of fun with retro this past year too. Played Kirby’s Dream Land 1 & 2, Kirby’s Adventure, all the sonic Genesis games, Yoshi’s Story, Super Mario Land 2, Zelda Oracles of ages and Minish Cap, Punch Out, Pokémon Puzzle League, and Star Wars Episode One racer all for the first time. This was the year that I actually decided to get the switch online library since the content finally justifies the price and I’d say I got my money’s worth.
I finally played Banjo Kazooie for the first time last year and also beat Rayman 2 and 3 which have been on my to finish list since I was a kid. Had a blast with all three
Sheep Raiders was one of my favorite games as a kid! One of the first game I ever fully completed. Great puzzles, stealth gameplay, and a lot of good humor to boot. Man, I really need to go back and play that one again.
I would love to watch AntDude play Portal 2 co-op with Scot the Wozz. That would be interesting to see. He should play it with anyone, I don't care who, play it! God, it's so good.
My friends and I actually did a tournament for best game of the year of the games we played in 2023. It's pretty neat to go back and talk about all the stuff we played over the past year.
Bugs Bunny Lost in time is my childhood as is one of the games I most played in my PS2 despite it being a PS1 one, the music is just engraved into my brain too
My favorite retro games I played in 2023 were Ridge Racer, Ridge Racer Revolution and Ridge Racer 64! The soundtracks are exquisite and the racing is very addicting!
The best game you played in 2023: Preteding that Jirad was a good guy and attack anyone with abuses who dared to question othrrwise despite the mounting evidences, and finally jumping ship when the cat was out of the bag. You really played right. You really played everyone like a damn fiddle.
MB3 has so…soooooo much more content. If you’re at the tournament you’re just scratching the surface. Just letting you know the end game is where this game shines
I played over 100 retro games last year and the best one I would say I've played is Elite Beat Agents. Holy crap, that game is so good and I just kept replaying it. It has become both my favorite DS game and favorite rhythm game of all time.
Bugs bunny lost in time is such a 10/10 game, for its time it was really as if you were playing through the cartoons, such a great GREAT game. Makes me miss classic looney tunes.
You should absolutely talk more about the Buggs Bunny game (and the "adjacent" buggs bunny & taz game). Loved that game as a kid, it had this... unusual vibe to it. And the Sheep Raider game was my absolute favourite, such a good game!
My dude, if you are going to make a video on the Looney Tunes series, i think you should consider "Looney Tunes Racing". A simple but very charming PS1 kart racer
Was not expecting to hear Splatterhouse come up in this video, I did a double take to make sure I was hearing that right. Love that game even though, yeah, it's not all that good.
Bugs Bunny Lost In Time and Duck Dodgers were childhood games of mine. Really liked them both. Wasn't all that into Sheep Raider and Time Busters though. My main "retro" gaming project of 2023 was playing through all 9 of the Professor Layton games - the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy, the Ace Attorney crossover, the mobile game, and Katrielle (Switch version) - in advance of the new game coming out now in 2025. I had actually only ever played Curious Village and Diabolical Box back when they came out ~15 years ago so it was nice to finally clear through the entire series in the span of one year. I also cleared Trace Memory/Another Code on DS for the first time in advance of the just released remake collection. In the remake I've finished the first game and will be starting the second game next time I pick it up.
I been playing so many retro games since I hatched my vita. I played sonic 1-3 , advance and battle , super Metroid , zero mission and fusion. Spider-Man maximum carnage and separation anxiety. All the old power rangers games especially the game gear ones. Definitely hidden gems I recommend. Especially the first one. Every ranger has their own special moves but once you unlock the green ranger you get 3 megazord options with all their own special moves. Fun short games you can run through. Definitely recommend at least a try. They’ve held up surprisingly well.
I actually discovered this game 2 years ago, but I can't stress enough my love for Threads of Fate on PS1 It's an action RPG with loads of charm and comedy, and you should definitely look it up
So glad he talked about Voodoo Vince, and I hope we get a looney tunes games video because Bugs and Taz Time Busters and Sheep Raider are some of my favorite platformers
For last year's Retro Games I played, I played all the main entry Kirby games. It was something that was on my bucket list for a while. So I was, heck with it, and spent the last 6 months, from July to December, playing Kirby games. The older games were very interesting to play, especially on the 3DS before the stores closed. Definitely had to use some of the NSO functions for Dream Land 3. I find that game's collectable to be a pain. Now I see why the DS games were a rough time in Kirby's history. Since the Kirby games that were released on the Switch still felt fresh in my mind, I ended it with the 3DS games. Planet Robobot still holds up to this day (just not my 3DS to PR's graphics sometimes, the frame rate was bad in certain sections). While this was a short brief on what I did, I had fun doing it. There was never a bad Kirby game from what I played in the mainline as the series has this nice condensed amount of games released over 30 years of Kirby. It was a fun time.... now I got my own backlog of games to deal with.
Hope yhe video does well, love just hearing about games that brought you joy and not just the latest thing in the news cycle. I played through the xbox release of star wars episode 1 racer last year. I loved the game as a kid and it always bothered me that I never got first place on one of the tracks. Adult me got 100% of the achievements in one enjoyable evening. Makes me want to complete some of the other unbeaten games from my childhood.
If you're going back and playing old playstation games please play Dark Cloud 2 for ps2. It remains one of my favorite games of all time. From the cheesy story, to the out dated time travel system, the town building, the massive weapon upgrade tree, and even the level to level gameplay loop of clearing a stage of hazards before playing a hole of golf in it is all just so fun to me. I know other people hated spheda (golf) but its the part of the game I look forward to most on replays. Anyway I would love to hear what someone that never played it back in the day has to say about it. It's on the ps store with trophies too.
I played Bug Fables. It's a lot of fun, but my only problem is I don't like that your attack power doesn't increase as you level up. It was annoying. The rest was super charming and fun!
I grew up playing the Battle Network games but initially only played 3-6 and yeah, the first game is rough. I’m so glad they improved from it and while Battle Network 4 is pretty divisive, it’s still better than 1.
If you are looking for more good junky ps1 games you should try Nascar Rumble, is like someone tried to make a Mario kart game but only got the rights of Nascar Racers. You can even drive a chicken truck alongside nascar racers.
Bugs Bunny Lost in Time is an underrated platformer. I just did the 100% run last year and it’s still as fun as I remember from my childhood. I do agree of some of the things that are issues but just fun. I’m so overdue on playing Time Busters though.
If you do a video on the Bugs and Taz time busters game that'd be great. I played it as a kid and it had to have been one of the most fleshed out coop adventure games available at the time. I was glad you could play it single player, but two player was really a neat experience for me that young.
I mostly play retro games, so listing them out here would be quite the list. However, I have one in particular that i want to share - Fireball for the Atari 2600. I had never heard of it prior to this past year and it really impressed me. A breakout clone, yes, but one with a difficult-to-master mechanic of juggling the balls. A really creative but very hard game!
I never played the Battle Network games until recently except for a spinoff on the Gamecube called Megaman Network Transmission which has chips but it's different from the main entries as it has platforming similar to classic Megaman.
I havent gone too far with either but i have been getting into both Resident Evil Outbreak games. Theyre really nice spinoffs for the ps2 involving multiple characters at once
I loved the semi-sequel to Bugs Bunny Lost in Time when I was younger, called Bugs Bunny and Taz Time Busters I even 100% it, but the game would crash when it would play the final 100% clear cutscene (thank you TH-cam for letting me view the final cutscene)
Random N64 recommendation: Robotron 64. It’s a sequel to the twin stick shooter Robotron, but it’s in 3D, it’s hyper colorful, and the music is intense EDM rave music. It is one of the few N64 games that allows duel wielding N64 controllers, which is fun. It also allows for a single controller play as well. It’s super simple, really easy to pick up and play, and you’ll find yourself just waiting one more level. Check it out.
My most played games of last year were Dragon Ball Z Fighterz and Pokemon Scarlet (both by a mile) and then come SF6 and Tears of the Kingdom which both got a respectable hundred hours but did not beat the others lol… DBZ I played before everything released… and I ended the year on Scarlet. All great!
Love to see Famicom classics. Yumi penguin monogatari was one of those weird games that was in a cadrige that my uncle have but with 3 other games by resetting. If i remember correctly , the games were double dragon III, Magical Doropie and Jackies chan action Kung fu. Don doko don 2 and Saiyūki World 2 will always be living in my memory for some reason.
2023 was the year if emulation for me so I got to play some pretty good classics like the N64 version of Banjo. Still holds up surprisingly well, and even if it doesn’t the charm more than makes up for it. This was also the year of playing all the mainline Pikmin games in order.
I played Pikmin 1 and 2 after enjoying 4, and I plan on getting to 3 eventually. I also played Dragon Quest 1 and 2, and I'm making my way through 3 currently.
Just finished Another Code Two Memories, and it still holds up the same as the DS version, been always wanting to play the sequel and finally am going start it.
I played A Link to the Past for the first time. Some of the puzzles were really cryptic and I had this jank problem where enemies would get stuck in Link dealing constant damage. I needed someone to help me get the silver arrows to beat Ganon since I had no idea I needed them nor did I know they existed. I wish I enjoyed it more than I did. Going to play Metroid Fusion this year. Hope I like that one more since I loved Super and Dread.
Here's a random recommendation, if you'd like a great NES platformer that holds up AND is a good cartoon-based game, be sure to try Wacky Races. It's a criminally underrated game, mostly hated, because it's a platformer, not a racer, but it's still an awesone game.
Since you mentioned PS Plus Premium, I highly recommend Pursuit Force. It's a fun game originally for the PSP that I first played in October last year and replayed it a week and half ago
I had no idea the Battle Network games were better after one, I remember playing the first one and hating it and never picked up any after cuz I thought they would all be the same.
I retro game I recently played, that a lot of people may not remember, is Geist on the GameCube. I don't think I can call it good, but I wouldn't exactly call it bad either. It's... unique
I played 3 older games i played for the first time last year which immediately became favourites for me, being ace attorney trials and tribulations, persona 4 golden and shovel knight.
As someone that played the first 3 games of Battle Network, I agree that you can outright skip the first game. It could be neat to see from a historical standpoint or if you want to study game design because it makes some weird choices, but you will have everything you need if you start from 2.
In 2023 I played a bunch if existing games. “Kirby Triple Deluxe” I got to 93% and “Disney Infinity: The Lone Ranger” I got to 100%. Im recommendation would be to buy Disney Infinity 1 on sale for pc. Play Lone Ranger and then consider the other worlds.

Portal being considered "retro" made me feel ancient.
I just realized that this year the original portal will have been around for half my life and I don't know how I feel about that, lol
i feel like “retro” has to end at like. the gamecube era, right? it’s gotta be more of an aesthetic than it is telling of age

Your battle network perspective was really interesting. I hope one day I would be able to see a full on retrospective review!
This Bugs Bunny game is my favorite game ever. The fact that it came with my Playstation helped.
Fun fact: Voodoo Vince was actually NOT backwards compatible on Xbox 360 because of some custom code. This is probably why the remaster exists.
"Going back to confirm a masterpiece is indeed a masterpiece" Shadow of the Colossus and Tony Hawk Underground for me 😍

Every ranger has their own special moves but once you unlock the green ranger you get 3 megazord options with all their own special moves. Fun short games you can run through. Definitely recommend at least a try. They’ve held up surprisingly well.
“This is gonna be a laid back video”
I thought that was the point of the whole channel?
I actually discovered this game 2 years ago, but I can't stress enough my love for Threads of Fate on PS1
It's an action RPG with loads of charm and comedy, and you should definitely look it up
So glad he talked about Voodoo Vince, and I hope we get a looney tunes games video because Bugs and Taz Time Busters and Sheep Raider are some of my favorite platformers
I can't wait for that Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time video, it's seriously underrated and one of my PS1 favorites
TTYD, it was amazing. And I grew up on minish cap and thoroughly loved it
I played Bug Fables. It's a lot of fun, but my only problem is I don't like that your attack power doesn't increase as you level up. It was annoying. The rest was super charming and fun!
I remember playing the demo of voodoo vince on the original xbox and I love it!!! I didn't know there was a remaster available so I'm hyped!!!
“You’re a voodoo doll, you do damage to yourself and cause harm to others around you” haha that’s my life in a nutshell
You strike me as the kind of dude who would like the Doraemon movies
These are my favorite videos that you do :)
I played kirby squeak squad and It was pretty enjoyable
I mostly play retro games, so listing them out here would be quite the list. However, I have one in particular that i want to share - Fireball for the Atari 2600.
I had never heard of it prior to this past year and it really impressed me. A breakout clone, yes, but one with a difficult-to-master mechanic of juggling the balls. A really creative but very hard game!
I probably played a few more retro games than I can think of at the moment but Psychonauts was one of my favorite games I played last year
I never played the Battle Network games until recently except for a spinoff on the Gamecube called Megaman Network Transmission which has chips but it's different from the main entries as it has platforming similar to classic Megaman.
I havent gone too far with either but i have been getting into both Resident Evil Outbreak games. Theyre really nice spinoffs for the ps2 involving multiple characters at once
I loved the semi-sequel to Bugs Bunny Lost in Time when I was younger, called Bugs Bunny and Taz Time Busters
I even 100% it, but the game would crash when it would play the final 100% clear cutscene (thank you TH-cam for letting me view the final cutscene)
Inversion! Now there's a blast from the past.
Intriguing. I love the original and have played a lot of N64 games, but missed this one.
I played Rhythm Heaven Fever for the first time in 2023, and it is truly one of my all-time favorite games. It's amazing!
23:06 Splatterhouse PS3 is schlock horror at its finest.
Minish cap is sooo underrated
I played Another Code: R a few months before they announced Recollection. Weird timing!
This is a great video. I am now really into yume penguin which is a cool game to play whenever.
Calling those 3 games "older" made me fall on the ground with arrythmia because I havent taken my pills
@@CronicasDeGisthia when i say older i just meant games not released in 2023 lol
Clicked because I saw Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time in the thumbnail
I love Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time so much. I couldn't beat it as a kid, but I remember the sequel (Bugs and Taz) being far more polished and enjoyable
Ummm acutely the dog and cat minigame you're talking about is called Air Rally and they are playing badminton 🤓🤓🤓
Bugs Bunny Lost In Time is such a gem
As someone that played the first 3 games of Battle Network, I agree that you can outright skip the first game. It could be neat to see from a historical standpoint or if you want to study game design because it makes some weird choices, but you will have everything you need if you start from 2.
In 2023 I played a bunch if existing games. “Kirby Triple Deluxe” I got to 93% and “Disney Infinity: The Lone Ranger” I got to 100%. Im recommendation would be to buy Disney Infinity 1 on sale for pc. Play Lone Ranger and then consider the other worlds.
