Linda Yu and Ron Magers eventually ended up at top-rated WLS-TV's ABC 7 Eyewitness News (Yu, two years later in '84, and Magers some 16 years later in 1998). Both retired three years ago (Ron, on May 25, 2016, and Linda, six months later on November 23, 2016).
I've seen each and every single episode of Gimme A Break!, and Mama's Family. I've also seen the 2-hour Knight Rider pilot movie Night of the Phoenix; A Smurfs Christmas; and The Kid with the 200 IQ with Diff'rent Strokes' Gary Coleman, Benson's Robert Guillaume, and Gimme A Break!'s Kari Michaelsen. All which aired on NBC that season.
OK, well, here's a couple of fun facts for you folks out there. Now, number one, of course one of the station's former anchors, Deborah Norville, is of course still the longtime host of "Inside Edition", a long-running weekday TV newsmagazine show. And number two, well, for the station itself, well, it's quite obvious that the station is owned and operated by its affiliated station, NBC.
FYI, Ron Magers, Linda Yu, Jerry Taft (meteorologist), and Mark Giangreco (sportscaster) would all eventually end up at top-rated WLS-TV ABC 7 Eyewitness News, with Yu and Taft joining by the summer of '84, Giangreco in '94, and Magers in 1998 on the 5pm newscast (w/ a 10pm spot four years later). The former three have since retired from journalism (Magers and Yu in 2016, and Taft just last year). Only the latter (Mark Giangreco) remains at ABC 7 (w/ Ron's successor Alan Krashesky and veteran co-anchors Kathy Brock & Cheryl Burton).

Best era ever.

I use to watch this vintage video clip years ago.
Thanks.
