    I was really hoping we would see the Verity in Picard. Imagining a fleet with a few HD Odyssey as their command would have been so much nicer than the one hour rush job copy/paste we got at the end.

    • @BirthquakeRecords
      @BirthquakeRecords 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yeah, it would’ve been poetic to see the Verity in that fleet. Also maybe some refitted Galaxies and some Sovereigns. It shouldn’t have been hard, I’m sure all those CG models exist in the Paramount archives, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ maybe Starfleet’s new shipyards are only capable of producing variants of one ship class? Or maybe they were all refitted-for-combat ships from the Romulan evacuation effort? That would explain why they were all basically the same hull design.

    • @JohnSmith-iy8hz
      @JohnSmith-iy8hz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BirthquakeRecords I really like that idea of the ships originally built to evacuate Romulans but refit into something more useful for general Starfleet operations. Especially since, from what I remember, the original design was supposed to be cargo related.

    I’ve always loved the naming of the odyssey class and the Aquarius class. It’s pretty clear that it’s likely a reference or tribute to Apollo 13. As the command module for the mission was named Odyssey, well the lunar lander was named Aquarius.

    I absolutely LOVE this ship, and admire the dedication the STO team has had to it since its inception. The Verity version finally let me build my favorite version of the ship. If you have it, try the following - Hull: Sojourner, Saucer: Verity, Pylons: Endeavour, Nacelles: Yorktown, Material: Type 8b, Windows: Type 1. In my mind it'd make an excellent new Enterprise for movies or TV.

  • @kaidenshepard8446

    Oh I remember the linited time STO anniversary mission I think where you got a free basic Odyssey class ship in that mission (PC only exclusive at the time and doubt would ever get repeated on console) where you took the Enterprise out for a shakedown and we had Utopia Planitia I think as well to visit.
    The irony being i absolutely hated the look of the Odyssey class at the time, it made no sense and a waste of materials with two seperating connecting necks, it would look mighty daft if an enemy blasted through one of them entirely and cutting it off, these were mey thoughts when I first saw the design, but now some many years on, the T5 and T6 Odyssey bundles I own and with all the consoles and now having one upgraded to T6X it is a formidable ship to have in advanced TFO's.
    I tend to dislike something at first but then when I sit down and start using it, I find it can be fun to have.
    I even have one of them named the Sovereign with the registry NCC 73811-A as in my head canon the Sovereign is in for new tests to refit and upgrade that class of ship and so is out of comission for a fair while, and the Odyssey class takes on the multimission role.
    I cannot help but feel I have seen this video before, the information about the Odyssey and Verity and the different engines I am positive I have heard you say before, if not, I must have had a premenition or something.
    2:35 I love the bluish look to the ships windows, they look much better than the horrificly boring plain white windows we see, it is why I loved First Contact, the windows on the Enterprise had similar coloured blues and of course that model had cut outs inserted into the windows of I believe interior shots of the Enterprise D, making that model very unique and one I really like.
    I know in Voyager it does that in some episodes in some close up shots like The Good Shepherd, which I believe the episode is when you see it in around 3:28, but the majesty of the Enterprise E in First Contact is just one that I will always like for the colours and the windows. I won't rant too much about starship windows just being white lights, I will njust assume it is a sort of filter so you can't look in them from the outside, but can see plainly through them from the inside, ha ha.
    The Borg Transwarp coils, I am just trying to remmeber if they couldn't recharge them on Voyager, only can be donw within a Borg vessel, I am sure in Dark Frontier in the end log it says something likek they got so many light years before it burnt out, but granted the schematics would be there and Seven's expertise, and any useful data that may have been gathered when Janeway, Tuvok and Torres got assimilated that time as well, (Unimatrix Zero if I recall correctly)
    In all honesty, every time I saw the shots around the ship and you say "Transwarp" I kept having Suu poppin ginto mind saying "She's supposed to have transwarp drive" for some reason.
    I am surrpised I havent seen any Excelsior class ships named Scotty's Granny's Wagon flying about.
    7:14 I was intrigued when I first saw the Odyssey bridge many years ago, but now when I see this video, I look and Dr Bashir's line when they board the Sau Paulo comes to mined "Hate the carpet."
    The viewscreen looks way too small for the bridge, just in my opinion, but the design does have logic to it, the design not the screen the command area etc on the main level but down the two ramps we have the additional area below.
    The EHCR, now that is something that may have issues, if he ships crew are incapacitated somehow and the ship suffers power losses etc or are somehow caught in a dampening field of some sorts, the Holo-crew wouldnt be that functional would it? unless they have mobile emitters as well.
    Having a holographic rew does sound good, on paper, but there have to be many safeties in place, backups, and redundancies in the ships systems for eventualites like power losses and for them to function still, or am I reading too much into that function?
    8:08 I wonder if this injured officer wouldbe incapacitated by exploding consoles laced with rocks I wonder, or if the Odyssey class is designed to not have rocks plastered around consoles and only to remain in labs or for display purposes.
    9:38 makes me wanna cry, the plain look of those ships, now I know, they were supposed to be easy to build on a fast track programme and so the elegant design aesthetics are out of the window, these ships are meant to be sort of passenger haulers with basic starship functions as you see man of the same ship but different amounts of modules attatched to them, then you go to 9:45 from the ships we are all familiar with that look far more elegant and thats in war time, but the ones being built to helpthe evacuation are purpose built I gather for just the evacuation process and then to be decomissioned afterwards or put into a fleet storage facility in some backwater sector for any eventuality where they may be needed, and this could be where holographic crews make alot of sense too especially if theire is a personnel shortage for such a large fleet.
    Two thirds of the Federation fleet being lost in the Synth attack, surely they wouldnt be daft enough to have all their currently in service ships go back to this one facility for overhauls etc, I am sure there are other drydocks Starfleet operated in Federation space, though of course a majority of the resources would no doubt head to the primary ship yards of the organisation, I doubt they will make the same mistake again, having all their ships cooped up in one area again in an evacuation programme, but they werent expecting the attack, still they should have been better prepared, thats just my opinion.
    The Inquiry class and its variants, I would assume as well had the same design prospects of the evacuation fleet, quick easy to build but tactically ready, not lightly armed for evacuation but federation defence, hence why there are is a huge number of them (not my cup of teah, ,I personally dislike the design BUT if it can be manufactured quicly and efficiently to bolster a severely crippled Starfleet I can accept that I suppose.)
    The Odyssey class seems a very resource intensive ship to build much more than the Galaxy class even with new building and replication facilities etc, still seems like they are the 25th century version of the first original 6 Galaxy class but would have stand by space frames for if ever a war broke out again like the Dominion where we saw alot more of the Galaxy class in fleet operations, just going with the 12 additional Odyssey class ships being built, these would be the ships you want to get your first assignment on, just like the Galaxy class in the 24th century and the Excelsior in the late 23rd century...
    As always I thoroughly enjoyed the video and your take on the beta canon on a beta canon ship, took me a while to get round to commenting I know but what the heck, heres the lecture, ha ha, enjoy and take very good care of yourself sir.

    It looks cool from a lot of angles, though it doesn't make sense to me that it has the twin hull connectors, at least without *some* central connection between for quicker routing of things like turbolifts and maybe some power couplings or anything that might not want to have to go sideways twice. Especially cause the twin necks make a nicely-protected space between them.

    The major flaw with most Star Fleet starships is the warp nacelles are like large bullseyes for the enemy. The Defiant class starships remedied this weakness, so why are future generations of Star Fleet starships designed with this weakness? How about a second generation Defiant class starship and a real dreadnaught class starship. Had Star Fleet had them, they would not have almost lost the Dominion war.

    The one part of the design that doesn't seem to work visually is the double neck _with the gap in-between._
    If that was filled in so it became one wide neck it make look more robust, and have a bit of a Excelsior ruggedness (one of the most iconic designs).
    In fact there's Beta Canon that the Excelsior class was refitted (not a minor refit this time) to bring it up to Odyssey class technical standards… quantum slipstream, the new computer systems and weapons, and so on.

    Cool, great tie in with events from the TV shows and movies. Just one thing, the Enterprise F would be the 8th starship to bear the name. NX-01, NCC-1701 (original constitution class), NCC-1701-A (Constitution refit), -B (Excellsior class), -C (Ambassador class), -D (Galaxy), -E (Sovereign) and -F (Odyssey class)

    In the post-Nemesis novels, the Enterprise-E is still in service in 2386, and Picard is still the captain. In a similar situation as Kirk's a century earlier, Picard is punished by Starfleet for his involvement in Section 31's activities. He's allowed to remain in command of the Enterprise-E, but will never be able to be promoted to Admiral.

    • @TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics
      @TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is actually not entirely correct... The Original Connie without refit was in Service for about 25 years, the refit added almost 15 years to that for a total of 40 years. The Enterprise B was commissioned in 2293, The Enterprise C was Commissioned in the 2330's, so its possible that ship was in service for 30-40 years. And finally, the Enterprise E was commissioned in 2372, and according to the Star Trek Picard tie in, is still active in 2399, so that ship is approaching it's 3 decade mark. So saying all the other ships were only around for a few years is 100% incorrect

That's it, the End, thus the Enterprise-F is the 7th Starship to bear the name with in the Enterprise 1701 lineage... I dont think it screwed it up, I enjoyed (Mostly) the tale that was told, but I DO think it is a prime example of why Beta Canon is not Canon and never can be considered as such, as a Star Trek series can easily change anything to create an actual history for whatever event they want! And although enjoyable for it's fun value, STO is always FAR too out there to actually be canon.
