Yup. I definitely didn't expect it to love it as much as I did. Now I will have a forever itch where I want to play games same as Death's door.

@@SSmitar I had this exact feeling when I first played Hyper Light Drifter, now Death's Door. I wonder if there are any other hidden gems out there with these types of games
@@MrLittleBoop If you want hidden gems in the same alley, I highly recommend Hollow Knight and the two Ori games (The blind forest and the will of the wisps). Oh and if you want a memorable experience Outer WIlds. Enjoy the rollercoster of emotions ;)

This OST is so atmospheric. The game wouldn't have been as memorable without it.
Okay just finished the game with 100% and I am sure this game left a feeling where I want to play it more. Everything is just perfect. And I immensely enjoyed the music. Every song, and I mean EVERY, is a straight up banger.
I don't know the last game I played where I was excited to hear EVERY song because they were all so good

Amazing Game, soundtrack, as you can see, is fantastic too...i just finished and certainly one of the best games I´ve played recently

The Grey Crow’s soundtrack. What an unexpected boss…
One of the sadder moments of the game. You buddied up with this guy and then you have to kill him because his life’s work was for nothing and he couldn’t handle that…
It was a damn shame, for sure. The second saddest/least expected boss in the game in my eyes. The first would be a spoiler so I’ll keep quiet.
@@MalpasDan I unfortunately got spoiled on that boss before I found it because I accidentally stumbled upon it on a guide video.
But I was not expecting it altogether, no.
His life date got passed , once this happens the person turns into demonic form.
I got sort-of spoiled on the grey crow boss. I saw an article that said the grey crow was a hard boss because he was very skilled and experienced in combat. But in the boss fight he wasn't calculated, more like a rabid beast. So i was still suprised and satisfied with the fight.

I've played video games for 30 years and I've played 100s and 100s of video games, and this soundtrack is close to, or in my top 10 of all time. It's incredible.

I like Silent Servants (41:26) most. Even though the fight is very tense, there is sadness and calmness the servents feel when they know in the end they'll sacriface themselves so our crow can enhance the spells. I always felt like the servents are fighting to lose. It has a story which we can interpret ourself.

I SWEAR right when i started the game i had this feeling that the soundtrack sounded familiar to Moonlighter and only then i noticed that Death's Door Soundtrack was also composed by David Fenn. Great work as always, love your music!
I love this OST so much. What an intricate blend of orchestration, retro tracker style, classical music, ambient, metal. My top 5:

This style seems to be very straight-forward with its loops but still employs many musical devices that captures interest even during long sessions. The flow feels natural and sounds rich, with subtle cross-referenced melodies in the background.
To me this OST is a good 50% of the game experience.

I would replace Estate with inner furnace; Aside from that, same TOP as you. And yes, Avarice music make me want to play challenge over and over. I even regret I beated it after 3-4 tries first time
That electric guitar in The Last Lord!!! HOLY SHIT. Immediately knew this was going to be an amazing fight.
Incredible game, just finished it! Maybe a less popular choice, but my favourite is "The Stranded Sailor" (1:04:53). Something about it is so calm but intricate

thank you for making this game what it is, David. The game is extremely good, but the thing that sets it above other similar games (stuff like HLD) is the soundtrack. You killed it in every way
The game would definitely not be what it is without this soundtrack it complements the game so well, it gets me so pumped and had me on the edge of my seat while fighting the bosses, it’s amazing.
And how about when AVARICE appears and a wave of enemies is about to begin....!

I recently started it on Xbox Game Pass. It is a cute little "souls-like" but in a much more relaxing setting and format. Plus, the music is amazing. Give it a try!

Usually takes me awhile to want to play a single player game nowadays, but I did with this one when it came out and 100% everything in it, game is super good, coming from me thats huge xD I think next singleplayer one Im gonna do is Cocoon as I love the games he makes.@@engvidAlex

My wife and I completed this game 100% a few weeks ago, and we loved the game so much. But without doubt, the musical score is outstanding, and we cannot help but continue to listen to the soundtrack as the genuinely evocative nature of each track brings all the memories back of how great this game is!

At this point, I am listening to this whole thing daily. This is my jam during those early morning programming sessions.
I'm here doing the same and I highly recommend you another indie soundtrack that is very relaxing and amazing. Hollow knight. Sometimes I also listen to the Witcher 3 OST and fits perfectly for those long sessions where I need to feel powerful.

The way David Fenn keeps bringing back the theme of the game in almost every piece of music of this game is astonishing, I will absolutely try to cover one of these songs one day on guitar, It would be amazing and beautiful. just like this game
I loved this game for so many reasons, but the OST is one of the biggest! The Old Watchtowers is a splendid track too! Great job!
David Fenn, you are an amazing composer! And the best thing is, you make your own rules, creating unique pieces while maintaining a Leitmotif. And top job on combining different motifs, the music could not fit any better!
This game is a fckn masterpiece and this soundtrack is an absolute gem. It cured me from my gaming depression. I'm in my 30s and no game could bring me fun for more than an hour. My 2 year old son accidently bought me this game on ps store while playing with the pad and after some time I decided to give it a try. I was instantly mesmerised and the soundtrack elevated it beyond what I ever expected.
One of the best video game scores i have heard since Jesper Kyd's Assassin’s Creed II and Michael McCann's DeusEx Human Revolution / Splinter Cell Double Agent. Very well done Sir!

Avarice, Old Watchtowers and Grey Crow are my personal favourites. I don't think I've been so surprised by a game soundtrack before, it's almost too good for the size of the game but it's perfect. I hope this gets the recognition it deserves. Fantastic.

I've played a lot of games in my life and I mean A LOTTT, yet this is the only OST I come back to regularly. you guys have done an amazing job with it, the game wouldn't have been the same without it

Fantastic work! I knew after hearing the music in the trailer that I had to get this game and I was not disappointed.
This soundtrack is good, but it's greatness comes from something that musicians probably have a name for but I can't quite put into words.
It's not just the melodies, but more like there's a change in them. Most tracks give you a base for what you think the emotion for the melody is.. but then it changes and evolves as the track goes on. It's almost as if it's constantly subverting your expectations.
This probably exists in other pieces but this is the first soundtrack I've noticed it so plainly.

@@777Looper There is some of that, but I actually think it's in the melodies themselves. Each track swings from one to the next without losing harmony but without landing *exactly* where you thought it would land.
@@enicot That probably comes down to just a good example of melodic interest. Threading that fine line between cohesion/pattern recognition and chaos/novelty. Hitting the sweet spot of wonder/discovery.
There's definitely an art to it.

Amazing soundtrack, it made the game so much better. I like that you kept the main theme present in many songs and added enough elements for each song to be unique and represent the various moments in the game. I have a soft spot for Avarice, the song combined to the fight made it a great gaming moment.

This song reminds me to Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep the silent forest. They are not alike but I don't know, since the first time I listened to it while I was playing Death's Door, kh bbs came to my mind, i don't know if it was because of the game, the music, the feelings in that moment... anyway thank you so much for this beautiful work. This game's soundtrack is more than perfect, unforgettable. I hope I can hear your songs in more games in the future.

I saw some great critics so I tried Death's Door. I don't think I'd have played the whole game till the end unless my ears were completely in love with the soundtrack. I don't remember anything so spectacular since the first years of World of Warcraft. What an OST, you should be proud of yourself David Fenn, it's a masterpiece to be remembered.
