I’ve just ordered one of these motors with the Furitek lizard pro esc so I’m looking forward to trying it out in one of my builds , great video I love the information and tips you pass on it’s appreciated, stay safe mate 🇬🇧
It's cool how you don't dislike think about just the product but you acknowledge the people behind the product
Awesome Video Matt! Glad you love the Motor! Thank you for your great work as always!
As always, another great video. I always get stoked when you find another "must have" upgrade.
Thanks for the videos!!! As always an amazing job!! And thanks for the new look!
Nice shout out to BOTH MofoRC and CCxRC. Great stuff for the 24s. Love how popular it is finally. And I still like that copper power wagon of yours!
WOW!!!! Your new course is coming out killer!!!! This motor looks very interesting, I have not swapped out the surpass in the Betty but I might now.🤘🤘🤘🤘 I got 2 of those servos yesterday in the mail.
I'm super excited, just bought the kit.
Heck yeah! Hope you like it!
Thanks for the indoor mud idea!!
Awesome...
Build before my time, I'm yet to go brushless but this looks like the one for me
It’s funny to watch the progress of the mini (and many) courses you are building. I’m in deep as well my living room is now a rock crawling megopolis 😂
Bro that's bad ass man .....I love how it matches the body also....lol and that honey badger I was gonna get so I definitely will now great video bro
KEWL Upgrade, Pulled the trigger, going give it a try. Thanks!
Sweet! Hope you like it!
Another awesome video
That mud pit is so cool I’m definitely adding something like that to my course now👍🏻
It’s my favorite of the new course so far! I think I’m gonna need a bigger one lol. The smaller tires really have to dig to get through it.
What material did you use in the " mud=pit"?
@@johngookinsable I used two cans of these. It’s very deep. Probably deeper than it would’ve had to be. It’ll almost cover a truck if you sink it to the bottom lol
amzn.to/3Ogf616
Holly cow you used 20,000 bbs 😲
there is a outdoor patio furniture spray paint that comes in three different rock looking colors with sand in to give you some texture grip.
Yep! Used some on the plaster cloth and it works great! I need more though. I’ve had it for awhile and wasn’t much left lol
Awesome! Just ordered this with the lizard pro! Thanks for the great review!going to put it in my Akers u.rock as a rear steer rig. Just need to figure out the tires to go with it.
Power hobby trail warriors! Best all around tire. If wanting a larger tire anyway
we need everything lol My nephews have busted my hobby budget. They call themselves the “cardboard creepers” working on getting some content put together and get a page running. Literally taking over my summer life.
Waiting on my SMP and Lizard combo right now, im so excited to get one in my bellydragger. Should leave me more space for electronics as well, being so stubby
Once I noticed the driver rear tire tread pattern was facing different than the rest, I couldn't focus 🤣That one is the only one, IMO, was on the truck in the correct direction. Sick setup though.
Yeah I never pay much attention to them honestly. I’ve tested basically every tire in 10 thousand different combos it feels like and I’ve never seen any difference in performance based on how they are facing really, so I rarely take time to look. I do run the fronts backwards a lot on purpose but really don’t care which way they face 😆
You can also pick up most any drone motor in a 1404 size. I'm running a 3600kv version. Just flip the shaft and install pinion gear. A $50 Blheli32 esc will run it perfectly.
Yeah that’s how I found the surpass long ago lol. It’s quite a bit easier to pick this motor up for most people though instead of buying one, flipping the shaft, finding a pinion that’s not in China, and printing a motor mount for it. I’ve also got a couple of those escs but haven’t found time to program them yet lol. Haven’t researched it too much but was thinking about running one in one of my 1/10 rigs eventually.
Awesome looking motor and very cool course. Thank for the video.
How do you think this motor compares to the OG Komodo? My komodo has been so dependable this past year and put up with so much abuse (full submersion, deep mud, sandboxes - and full submersion in sand to the point of not being able to spin). Now the bearings inside are starting to squeak so I need a backup. Wanting to try something a bit more compact. Maybe I can get everything compact enough to put in an interior.
How does this motor feel in terms of speed? From the video, I can see that it's smoother which is great! Is it slower or faster? From the KV rating I'd think it was a bit faster but I'm not the most experienced at these things.
Of course, I want it all with my scx24, speed, power, and low-speed control.
Thanks!
Yeah, I won’t buy a furitek again. Mofo motors are so much more quiet. My kamodo went to my dad. Couldn’t do it anymore. Now I have the SMP and ROP! Love them. Both. Let’s support small businesses. Support Nick!
From the brief glimpse I got of that 3D printed motor mount, it looks better than the aluminum one Mofo ended up coming out with in terms of that top most screw hole for it. The aluminum one is slotted instead of just a screw hole for it which makes that screw not seat flat and it ends up crushing the washer a bit. Not a big deal but odd to see that change from the 3D printed one to the final aluminum version.
I paired my SMP to Mofo's bullet proof aluminum transmission I was a bit disappointed with the pairing. The pinion and spur gear connection is a bit noisy, I get they're both steel and will make a bit of noise, however the spur gear is noticeably wobbly and does not spin flat.
Great video as always! That new Mofo motor looks interesting. But what REALLY caught my eye in this video was the way you have the micro Komodo mounted pointed to the rear on the silver Injora bodied truck. I just received my first Lizard Pro and micro Komodo and was planning to start a build using it today. But, all I've seen in the past was with them mounted pointing forward. I think I'd prefer something like your setup. Do you have a video that shows the details of how you mounted the MK, and what parts are needed, in the silver truck?
Oh, and BTW, I took your advice from the other conversation and now have a set of the Injora internal spring shocks inbound. Looking forward to trying your forced droop setup. After watching the video you sent me the link to, it just made too much sense to ignore!
Awesome! Yeah I always kinda prefer the outrunners to be toward the rear just because I usually cram my battery up front and you have to keep the clearance for those motors. All I did was flip the skid around so I could mount the transmission flipped which put the motor in the rear. Works great!
Hello from southeast alaska sweet looking truck bro
Thanks! How’s it goin?
@@2fmrc good just finished up your video man that motor is sick bro
mip hard to beat
Love your Atlas. I just bought one of those, cant wait to try it. Maybe selling my Komodo for another one of the Mofo pancake. How did you mount the rear of body to chassis?? Thanks love your vids!!!
Hey! Just seen this. The body itself is all on magnets. I made a little bracket basically with some very thin metal and hot glued it to the rear of the cab on the inside. Then it connects to two magnets glued on the bed. The bed is kinda wedged between the rails & bolted on.
Hey Matt! Just wondering what micro receiver you are using? Thanks heaps and keep up the great work! BTW I love all the "Boring" desktop detailed videos! 😄
Awesome! Really appreciate that! Here’s the one I’m running. It comes all soldered up and ready to roll. Auto binds and everything. I love them

Great looking rig. You should make that one your “ultra lite” rig like exo did. Be a good comparison to do one lite and one heavy for your course.
I’d probably make this one my heavy rig. It’s fairly heavy as is. I may work on an ultra lite rig soon tho!
@@2fmrc nice! Do it. 💪🏼
I need to find a set of those charismas
Awesome swap man … does it have any punch or strictly a crawler motor?
How's the throttle curve? Is it smooth as you pull or is the a jump? Thanks!
I sorta thought the same. Why do a big diameter motor when there's the MK and Nano. BUT, it is quite short front to back so looks to take up less room than the Komodo. And if it's smoother, all the better.
Damnit!........ decisions, decisions, decisions......? LOL! Just a bit phobic ordering things like that. If it fails or there's an issue, it's a long and expensive way from Canada to get a replacement. :(
I'm new to RC, but am kitting out my SCX24. If I"m going to use the pancake and the lizard pro, would you recommend the mod 0.5 or mod 0.3 gear setup? I can't find any good info on how much difference there is between the two. I figured if I'm upgrading the slow speed control via the pancake and lizard pro esc, then maybe keeping some speed with the mod 0.5 makes sense, but I can't figure out if that's true, or if there is such a big difference that I wouldn't be able to crawl well with the mod 0.5? Any tips would be awesome! Cheers to a great channel!
The mod is just the gear pitch. Basiclly the distance the teeth are apart etc. You won’t change speed or slow crawl much without changing the pinion size. I’d just stay mod 3 honestly. The pancake comes with a mod 3 on it (they are very very hard to remove) so it works well. I don’t think I have any of my rigs on mod 5 anymore. Maybe still one.
Very cool video brother, I was wondering could you run this motor and plug it into a spectrum firma esc?
Hot dayum these little toy trucks are too cool!!! I'm 41 an my son is 6 and I'm always trying to bug him into playing trucks with me haha LMAO!!
Heck yeah! My son has been running them basically since he started walking. We didn’t get into the smaller scale stuff until a couple yrs ago but he was running 1/10 trucks since he was 2 lol. Now he’s 11 almost 12 and goes everywhere with me to crawl!
Hi Matt do you think this would mount on a furitek stellar transmission?
Is that a stock skid plate? Just got my SMP and trying to install rear facing and finding the rear lower links bind against skid plate when I reverse the skid plate . Going to try trimming
Stock skid but with that chassis I had the rear upper links mounted higher (to the chassis not the skid)
Does anyone know how far up the smp motor sits from the skid?
How do you like the power hobby tires vs slingers
Whats the body you have on this scx24?? That thing rocks
What esc are you running in it?
Great video....is that pit matt you use big enough to work on 1/10th stuff?
It’s just big enough for them. Not a lot of spare room but it still works. I built my gshot completely on it with no issues. Once adding wheels and tires it gets a bit tight but otherwise worked pretty well. It’s 21.5x13.5 I think

@@2fmrc yes sir thanks
Its a quad motor with the shaft flipped. I have about 50 different ones laying around. Wonder how had it is to mod one of my mismatch motors I have laying around.
Yeah that’s basically what the surpass was also. It just already had the shaft the correct direction. I have a couple others I may try to flip and see how well they work since this one is so smooth. Just need a good arbor press and it’s fairly simple to flip them.
Thats a cool idea for the mud pit. What is it filled with?
Thanks! I used two cans of these. It’s a bit deeper than it would’ve needed to be but it’s a lot of fun
amzn.to/3xTbiMt
Matt, I am about to get this motor/esc/servo combo in my highly modified deadbolt. I'm having an issue with my Mofo RC brass front axle. I have mofo brass knuckles, mofo axles, mofo bearings, mofo servo mount, and treal steering links. When I turn to either lock, my axles bind every 180 degrees of turn. I talked to Nick at Mofo, and his response was "I've never heard of that happening before". I've tried stock axles, Mofo stainless axles, mofo spring steel axles - they all do the same thing. Am I doing something wrong? Have you run into this before? I have already twisted the pin out of a stainless mofo axle. I don't want to put that BA servo in there and just break axle after axle.
Sounds like the end points are set too high. So you’re getting binding when turning. What transmitter are you running?
@@2fmrc I using a Spektrum DX4C. My sons' SCX24 will turn further than mine will, and his has stock diff housings, stock axles, and amazon brass knuckles. When I first got my Mofo diff housings, the knuckles that were on my truck would not fit far enough on to the end of the axle tubes to mount them. I purchased Mofo knuckles - they will bolt on, but they don't move smoothly when disconnected from the steering linkage. I installed the Mofo spring steel axles since they have more of a CV joint instead of the ball/pin and cup. I believe the spec is wrong on the bearing bore at the end of the axle tube.
@@2fmrc The only spec that sets the distance of the axle into the knuckle is the bearing bore at the end of the axle tube (unless the keyed axle end is not fitting all the way into the ring gear - but that would be a different problem. Mine is not having this issue). I have swapped stock bearings for Mofo bearings with no change, swapped stock axles with stainless and spring steel mofo axles, and swapped no name brass knuckles for Mofo brass knuckles - with varying degrees of success. None of the listed combinations resulted in a fit as smooth as stock parts. I assume the axle housing is not machined correctly - I was just checking to see if you had run into something similar since you do so much part swapping.
whats the stats? how many amps can it draw, watts?
pancake 1700kv vs komodo 1400kv, faster but not as strong?
does it cog more or less.
i need a strong motor.
i run komodo on a 20t pinion on 2s, perfect speed and light weight 2s batt.
works great but sensitive for drivetrain binds or overturning cvds.
I have very limited time with it and info was limited as well. I think he did post them on the site this evening so not sure if there is more info there or not. All I know is it’s 1700kv and 2-3s rated. It seems just as strong as my Komodo but it’s been awhile since I’ve ran that motor honestly. It definitely cogs less than probably any brushless motor I’ve ran. I’m hoping to get it outdoors and see how it does on the rough stuff. That’ll really help me determine the power. Hopefully I can get it out this wknd.
Watching you run that truck... Looks interesting, maybe you should invite your friend over and show me how to run it. I've got all the time in the world sir
Dude! I’ve got plenty trucks you can run with me! Love to get you hooked on this hobby with me 🤘
micro komodo rips tires off the beads!!! but this thing looks cool
Yeah and strips transmission gears! I’ve done it a few times lol
No way would I use a 3D printed motor plate for a brushless motor. I'll wait til the aluminum comes out. I love the orange, though! I got my modded deadbolt today. It's got the furitek lizard and surpass motor. I am completely unfamiliar with the surpass. Did they use their own mount? It's facing toward the rear of the truck. Would I just be able to use the motor mount in my truck with this motor? My deadbolt is way slower than anything brushless I have seen you run on your channel. Not sure what's up with that.
Could be gearing. You could try changing up the pinion for more speed but it’s got more torque than speed really. I’ve ran 3D printed motor mounts forever. No issues really. Surprised that surpass don’t have one cause that’s the only thing that fit it back when I first started running them. This motor won’t mount straight up to that mount but hopefully he’ll have an aluminum mount for it soon. You could also add overdrive worm gears front and back to increase the speed of the rig overall.
Have you gotten to test the Temps it runs I've got the nanobeast 2.0 and it gets a little warm where my rig is so heavy and got lucky and won a pancake on mofo monday can't wait to try it out
How did the Nano stack up to the pancake? Which pancake did you get?
@nathan3856 I got the orange actually have 2 now it's much better in my opinion it's quieter and doesn't get hot at all goes about the same speed
I think I'll be picking one of those up LOL. I must know, though. Did it work with the same ESC as the Komodo?
Yeah it’ll work with any of their brushless escs just fine.
@@2fmrc Nice, thanks. I bought the Komodo for my Gladiator and it set my center of gravity too far back, and I'm also disappointed with the smoothness.
The mud pit is a REALLY clever idea! What material are those beads/balls?

No. Just remove the stock motor plate and install this one

it is still cheaper than the furitek motor and all the other stuff you need to make it work
Amazing! Curious what the chassis is that’s on thet truck?
It’s called the BOC chassis. It was available from someone on Facebook. Not sure if they still make them or not honestly.
@@2fmrc sweet! As I am looking into getting a LCG chassis, I’m curious what your favourite one is?
@@raleighro so far I really like the Hard Park crawlers xl goblin. I’m working on the Cheat Code from Mazz and really like how it has options for mounting the upper links but I’m having some issues getting screws started in the skid atm. Hopefully I can get it worked out.
@@2fmrc awesome! I’m looking at getting the goblin, although not the XL, as that’s for the gladiator, correct?

Idk I’ll think about it. I’m such a hoarder 😆
dont purchase the plastic mount.. vibrations of a high torque motor and plastic does not offer true performance and you cant use loctite.. wait for the aluminum mount. i learned the hard way.
