    This is very good perfromance advice BUT, ONLY if you've practiced the music and you know your shit COLD! If you don't, it's better for you to stay stationary and concentrate on playing your notes! That said, you shouldn't even be up there giging UNTIL you and your bandmates know your shit cold!

    There needs to be more instruction like this. You take these ideas and run with them, make it your own things. I came from the 80's when we all weren't too proud or too scared to actually do things like this. This was half the fun of being in a band. And yes, we could play.

      A little sway and body language can draw people in even if they don't particularly like the song or style of music you're playing.

      His live performances are unique and engaging.

    As a side note, this is a GUIDELINE of how to start thinking differently about your performance as a Guitarist. Most people that I work with can take my advice and run with it to the next level looking WAAAY better than I can. It's ultimately about performing better to give the fans a better experience than just standing there looking like an average joe. I hope this helps everyone take their own skills to the next level while making it your own! Thanks for watching.

      Uh yeah, but you have to recognize how hard it is to stand up and play guitar while singing and doing that for about 2 hours while under some lights that are hotter than hell. You go to a show for the experience of listening to musicians PLAY their music. If youre going for some dumb stage antics then youre there for the wrong reason.

    When you’re playing in arenas and stadiums, you have to be this dramatic if not more. It’s funny how so many people think “this is ridiculous and over the top! No one does this!” Then they sit and wonder why they felt the urge to watch this video in the first place. They wonder why their band is still on small stages. Then they watch national acts do exactly what Kevin is talking about.

    As someone who used to perform just standing still, I can guarantee stuff like this is very important. These moves, as mentioned on the video, are basic, but very impactful. Remember, people do pay more to see their bands perform live than to the music itself because of how much their stage presence is. If you gonna see a band just play staying frozen solid in one spot, not moving much, that is just plain boring and not worth paying for. And stuff like this is not really just for musicians, but to any performer in general. You have to make the audience FEEL what you are performing, and if you are not achieving that, you are doing something very VERY wrong.

    I've been playing on stage for 30 years, and only in the last 5 or so years have been able to figure out to some of the things you suggested. We have a great sound, stage show, but like most small time cover /original bands don't get the stage hours it takes to get your personal "look" down pat. These are awesome suggestions to any musicians that need to "not just stand there". Thanks Kevin,

    • @kvandrew80
      @kvandrew80  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're welcome! Yes, it does take time and sometimes not every band has the ability to dedicate the time for this and make sure everyone is on the same page. Gene Simmons actually fired some people from KISS because they didn't want to invest the time into the visual aspect. These are just suggestions for bands that do have the time and want to get to the next level. Thanks for your comment and have a good day.

    Thanks Kevin. This was very helpful information. You are 100% right, these are very much needed because many times i got negative feedback from audiances that i stand like a puppet and perform playing guitar. Even though i play guitar well, i was criticised by many for not enjoying on stage and sitting and not moving.. Then i started playing guitar by standing . Your lesson was very helpful , will try this on my next stage show.. I am a guitarist by hobby :-) , perform many times in my corporate shows.. :-) .

    Good tips! I'm a bass player and I never know what to do. Since I mostly play in church I won't be rocking as much as you show, but this does help.

    Very cool! Got here Googling ways to improve stage presence, especially if you're a singer/guitarist. This was super helpful and I'll be using these tips to get better. Thank!
