So if you can't bp spec you attack the boss on tick with bp then bowfa, pause for 2 ticks then walk to the tile sw? That's the only difference?

Instead of: bp spec --> fbow --> move
you do:
fbow --> wait 2 ticks --> move
That's the only difference yes.

I get hit on the next attack I do after I click the altar, I’ve checked my tile marks 3 times now, and I’ve done 54 kills, yet I still get hit after the altar red x attack.

after reading the description, i found my mistake. i was replacing bp spec hits with bp autos at the start of the kill.
