I can see how easy it could be to fall into the trap of always needing to do some big concept for a video, and always having to make each video better than the last one. But honestly those are the types of constraints that we put on ourselves that people rarely actually expect of us. You are the reason people come to this channel, and we will keep coming whether you're wrapping up 5 completely unrelated books that you just felt like reading that month or you're binging a whole series on a trip to a haunted hotel. Give yourself permission to mood read!!!

I totally relate to what you're saying! I do a lot of concept vlogs so I don't always get to just read for the love of reading. It's hard to balance! I try to remember that I genuinely enjoy doing the concepts. But I also should maybe figure out a better way to do both 😂

I think its valid, but also, when you finish One Piece i think it will go much better for the rest of your reading. Gavin, YOU DO YOU, buddy. Being a Book influencer should be work, but it should also be fun, and I am enjoying your One Piece videos (even though I don't read Manga much). Sometimes, you need to take a break from straight book reading and do something for yourself that will make you happy... And won't leave you brain dead. Book fatigue is real. Don't worry about what other people think. If they don't like your manga content, then they can click another one of your videos, or find another Booktuber. You should do what makes you happy. Those that love you and your channel wouldn't have it any other way. ❤

I love and watch all of your videos, Gavin! I am not into manga, but I still put on your One Piece videos. You’re so creative and put so much effort into your content and it’s SO clear! I get why you feel a bit disappointed in your reading year so far, because it does seem like you aren’t reading very many novels that are outside of your giant undertakings of reading an entire series/backlist & you usually aren’t expecting to actually really enjoy those. I do want to say this doesn’t make you a bad booktuber though! Your content is fun, creative, engaging & often makes me laugh out loud. I do hope you are able to read more novels in the way you used to though just for YOUR enjoyments sake!! 💜

If you're worried about reading one piece too much the solution is simple: binge the rest of it and get caught up 👍 BTW I recommend Tad Williams if you like Tolkien's fantasy work. In particular "tailchaser's song" and the "memory sorrow and thorn" trilogy.

Maybe, going forward, the big project videos can be every other month or even quarterly? I can only speak for myself, but I will say that I have not been watching much lately- I would never unsubscribe but I do not read or enjoy manga content, and while I have watched some of the project videos, I don’t have any interest in those big series aimed for kids/teens. But I do try to catch you in any lives you’re in, and I love to play some of your older videos for pure enjoyment. I understand that not everyone has the same tastes, so I do get excited when I see you do more traditional BookTube content. My fave videos of yours are unhaul challenges, your travel videos, and live streams with your friends. Whatever you decide to do, I hope that you can find your way to happy reading again! I enjoyed the day in the life video, it was helpful and inspiring. It's hard to be creative sometimes or have time to film and edit, I have tried, and reading this year has been a shit show for me because I have only read 19 books when by now I should have read 25-30. It's because I have been in a bit of a game mode than reading mode and I have to learn to balance that out better. I jumped on the wagon and bought Fourth Wing, yet haven't read it. By the way that Nun massacre book is kind of loosely part of a series, almost like how Twisted Tales is loosely a series, but there are two more books that look fun and scream 80's slasher vibes which I am here for and that's my era of childhood. You're enjoying manga and your favorite is One Piece, nothing to be ashamed about, mine right now is Spy Family, but I finally got my hands on Blood on the Tracks vol.1 and I already know this is going to be a doozy of a manga although Promised Neverland is up there. You do what's bringing you joy. I am excited to see these future videos of a revisit to Chillingham and your trip to Japan. Keep doing you, you bring joy to your corner of Booktube. 😊💕💕💕

Gavin, YOU DO YOU, buddy. Being a Book influencer should be work, but it should also be fun, and I am enjoying your One Piece videos (even though I don't read Manga much). Sometimes, you need to take a break from straight book reading and do something for yourself that will make you happy... And won't leave you brain dead. Book fatigue is real.
Don't worry about what other people think. If they don't like your manga content, then they can click another one of your videos, or find another Booktuber. You should do what makes you happy. Those that love you and your channel wouldn't have it any other way. ❤

I get why you feel a bit disappointed in your reading year so far, because it does seem like you aren’t reading very many novels that are outside of your giant undertakings of reading an entire series/backlist & you usually aren’t expecting to actually really enjoy those. I do want to say this doesn’t make you a bad booktuber though! Your content is fun, creative, engaging & often makes me laugh out loud. I do hope you are able to read more novels in the way you used to though just for YOUR enjoyments sake!! 💜

If you're worried about reading one piece too much the solution is simple: binge the rest of it and get caught up 👍
BTW I recommend Tad Williams if you like Tolkien's fantasy work. In particular "tailchaser's song" and the "memory sorrow and thorn" trilogy.

Hello Gavin! I’ve been watching your videos since almost the beginning of your channel and I just wanted to say, I ❤you so much. I’m sad that you haven’t been enjoying what you e been reading. Maybe, going forward, the big project videos can be every other month or even quarterly? I can only speak for myself, but I will say that I have not been watching much lately- I would never unsubscribe but I do not read or enjoy manga content, and while I have watched some of the project videos, I don’t have any interest in those big series aimed for kids/teens. But I do try to catch you in any lives you’re in, and I love to play some of your older videos for pure enjoyment. I understand that not everyone has the same tastes, so I do get excited when I see you do more traditional BookTube content. My fave videos of yours are unhaul challenges, your travel videos, and live streams with your friends. Whatever you decide to do, I hope that you can find your way to happy reading again! I enjoyed the day in the life video, it was helpful and inspiring. It's hard to be creative sometimes or have time to film and edit, I have tried, and reading this year has been a shit show for me because I have only read 19 books when by now I should have read 25-30. It's because I have been in a bit of a game mode than reading mode and I have to learn to balance that out better.
I jumped on the wagon and bought Fourth Wing, yet haven't read it. By the way that Nun massacre book is kind of loosely part of a series, almost like how Twisted Tales is loosely a series, but there are two more books that look fun and scream 80's slasher vibes which I am here for and that's my era of childhood.
You're enjoying manga and your favorite is One Piece, nothing to be ashamed about, mine right now is Spy Family, but I finally got my hands on Blood on the Tracks vol.1 and I already know this is going to be a doozy of a manga although Promised Neverland is up there. You do what's bringing you joy.
