- My beloved Marty the water monitor lizard is dead! He escaped from his enclosure and I have no idea what happened to him. But out of the ashes comes growth. I will take this experience and learn from it and also take the existing cage and habitat that Pinky is living in and expand and upgrade it completely!

I am so sorry to see Marty gone!!! I would be so sad if one of my monitor lizards died from something like this. We do our best to educate and show people how to take care of these guys...and sometimes stuff happens. every guy with pets now wants to make a living on youtube under the disguise of education. Someone should make a channel where they only keep native animals, I live in central Florida and exotics are everywhere, some are ok like the parrots and Mediterranean geckos but the brown anoles and Cuban tree frogs are devastating the green anole and native frogs. South Florida is even worse and its because people watch your channels and go out and buy these animals so stop acting like it's for education and not Adsense money and the pet trade

I like kenan because he does educate and isnt all about breeding but these big pet channels cause a lot of animals to be bought by kids who either dont take care of them or let them go.
PaleRanger2.0 you should open a reptile sanctuary for all the idiot parents who bought their kid an exotic that they then got bored of. What’s sad is it’s the same all over the country with ppl releasing captive animals into the wild when they no longer want them, its just in Florida they don’t die immediately because of the tropical type surrounding and weather and they often breed.
honestly, you filming pinky in silence is so peaceful and natural. It feels so relaxing. Especially with the sound of the wind in the trees and the birds.
So sorry for your loss man. I know this exact feeling. I lost my beautiful Asian water monitor when I came home from high school about 10 years ago. I woke up checked on her and she was totally fine. Come home all excited to start feeding my lizards and snakes and she was in her water bowl head hanging out lifeless. I was absolutely devastated and heart broken.

Years ago, when I owned a condo in Florida, I found that 2 anoles were living in my kitchen under the refrigerator. These were original Carolinas, not the Cuban invaders. I first saw them when, as I was coming back inside with my second load of groceries, they were running back under the frig from investigating my bags. When I came in with my 3rd load, they were again running back under the frig after checking out my second load. I never realized that the little guys were that curious; I suspect they approach some of the larger lizards in intelligence. Ever since then, I've always been careful to not do anything that might harm them.
We have lots around our house do they make good pets? We have caught them before but have never kept them for more than a week. We do that if we see them injured or super skinny
@@matthewrand5563 I recommend looking into the laws (where you live - they vary) for rehabbing native wildlife and capturing and keeping native wildlife.
With that said, personally I would not keep wild caught anoles. It is my understanding that they are easily stressed and are difficult to keep in captivity when wild caught.
If you want a pet lizard, its typically cheaper to buy a well cared for captive bred lizard. The initial vet visit alone will probably be many times more expensive than a Captive bred animal.
You dont *have* to take it to the vet but if you don't, there will be consequences that dont present themselves for a period of time long enough that you won't believe it's been a problem the whole time!
Animals that live in the wild carry a parasite load that is fine in the wild because they poop and then move on, not having to come into contact with that infested poop again. But in captivity, the animal has no choice but to be locked in a box with its own excrement, each time picking up more and more parasites, increasing the load until the animal ends up very ill seemingly overnight. They will hide that they are not feeling well until it's oftentimes too late.

Pets die. I am always reminded of that when I see fish in bags going home from pet stores, most destined to a quick demise. What is refreshing is experiencing a honest response to the loss of a pet. This empathy is what makes your site a go too time and time again. "Marty" has passed but the memories of your interactions with him live on. This episode will remind many pets are not expendable. The Chinese have a saying that "all things have a beginning and a end", something to keep in mind during times like these. Peace.

@@channelfour6098 how is it a weird explanation? The monitor wouldn't hesitate to eat a cane toad, which would almost certainly kill him, and cane toads aren't that uncommon where he's at. It's unfortunate that it happened but the explanation makes perfect sense.

I'm sorry for ur loss bro. My Bearded Dragon named Komoda died in her sleep back in mid March and I was so devastated I could not stop Crying or anything. My Bearded Dragon was My Best Friend. And Waking up and found her dead next to me in her tank early In the morning. I was completely heart broken. So I hope u feel better soon. I'm trying to do the same here too dude. Me and my bearded dragon was really really close with each other and would hang out a lot and we were the perfect best friends. I'm just sad that She's gone.

Aww I’m so sorry hun. Bearded dragons are awsome each one has a different personality. My sons bearded dragon was a cuddler which was a surprise to me I had no idea lizards would do that his quirk was he had a bad habit of cuddling then suddenly having an energy spirt and just jump off my lap it would make me scared cuz he was terrible at landing it got to the point I decided if he wanted to cuddle with me I would just sit on the floor so when he decided to be a flying squirrel he wouldn’t get hurt. Did your bearded dragon have a quirk or a behavior you were surprised by?

Hi Kenan Sorry for your loss. I was on vacation and the animal hospital called, and one of my cats that was boarding died of a stroke. That news changed my vacation. So I understand your loss. Pinky loves her new enclosure. 🦎🐍🐢❤️Cindy

My theory is that he got onto the roof or a tree and took a tumble or jumped for a bird or insect or something too high up to live. I think he probably hit the ground hard enough to send his organs into failure or even had a heart attack from bursting. Or perhaps many broken ribs punctured his lungs. His chest looked a little strange to me, but I've only seen live water dragons, never any dead ones, so IDK.

At 7:12 you can see a couple of anoles come in and use the slate to bask, check you out for a min then bolt. One was red on the right the other was gree on the left. Good luck finding them

I feel sorry for your loss. I had a pet dog that was so very loyal to me. Sometimes she even protected me. But one day, she escaped. About a month later I found out that she was hit by a car. 😢 Don’t worry man I’ve been there too.

My Timor Monitor died from egg laying a couple months ago. The egg tube herniated out the vent and didn't go back in. Then the lizard wouldn't eat and slowly started wasting away. I put it down after it was super clear that it wasn't going to get better. The lizard never did breed either. I know because I raised it since it was a juvenile and never had another one.

Little tip to cover the foam between the limestone. You could take some limestone beforehand and crush it with a hammer so you have small pebbles and stone flour and then sprinkle them on the foam while it’s still wet. That will cover the foam and look natural since it’s the same material.

My heart breaks for poor little Marty but great job on Pinky's house. She looks so happy exploring. I'm wondering where you found Marty...how far from his house was he? I ask bc maybe he mortally wounded himself squeezing out of that pipe depending in how far he got.
I would guess internal injury or drowning, very sad but sometimes animals do crazy things.
Water monitors can swim though so don't see how he would drown?
I can understand him maybe causing a serious internal injury squeezing through the pipe as you have said and then by the time he got out and moved around a bit, he succumbed to the injury.
Or, indeed he ate something he shouldn't have.
There's no venomous snakes in Florida is there, so can't be a snake bite i dont think x
@@vlogplannet12 we have coral snakes, 3 different kinds of rattle snakes, water moccasins, copper heads, and a couple other venomous snakes that I cant remember.

@@vlogplannet12you dont have to apologize for anything. It is possible but its probably from him struggling out of the 1.5 inch pipe. Probably was to confined and couldnt breath. I had a water turtle that did something similar and that's how the vet said he died.

Whenever I have a turtle die I bury it for a couple of months and then reconstruct the shells although i think it will be harder to reconstruct the skeleton of a lizard. This really sucks he was favorite one of your monitors.

Snakes love living in tight spaces and if they are in big spaces for a long time they can get stressed and when they do they won't eat

Sorry for your lose, always sad when a animal passes. More so when it is unexpected. I had a bearded dragon I rescued for 11 years. When he passed, I saw it coming about three months out. His favorite was strawberries and baths. So he got those things everyday those last few months. Best of a sucky situation. Best wishes.
