Cold Start the 1955 Evinrude Big Twin 25 Horsepower!

Hi! Cold War Motors picked up this 1955 Evinrude 25 a couple of years ago. We just re-commissioned it with a couple of new pickup coils and points, some plugs and a quick clean-up of the carb. We also replaced the water pump impeller thingy. It started right up after sitting for many years! These old motors are very well made, dating from a time when American stuff was the best in the world. Soon, I hope to load up some video of it running around on a lake (if we can find one where 2 stroke motors are still allowed!).

* I grew up on a lake. My dad helped me buy an engine for my 12' aluminum rowboat. It was a 50's twin cylinder 3.5hp Johnson. Always started first pull and ran very smooth. Cheers 🍺🤛😎👍.

We had one of those new when I was a kid. I have many memories of my grandfather cursing and swearing trying to get it started.

Haha! Yeah, they can be temperamental until they are warmed up a bit! This one is actually very well behaved, and it's never been apart.

This to me is what most of the modern "Fast n Furious" 4 bangers with fart-can mufflers sound like. Just sayin' - and I'll take the Evinrude over any of 'em.
