I'm an atheist so I of course have to answer to a higher power, decency and acceptance of others because it's simply the right thing to do, not fear of retribution from above. Wallis makes a point in his book that clearly relates to my past, being raised among immigrants is why I so accept them. However, being raised and educated in the catholic church is clearly why I'm atheist.
